Doja has like 6 songs getting traction right now, of course she's outstreaming LNX.
I find it kinda funny that some BB person said LNX got blocked because Drake was gonna be #1 for a while and now he's been out of the top spot twice in a row. Impressive numbers overall for him but Adele should clear the highest selling album of tbe year easily I think.

What are we going to do when Adele clears 1m for her album first week but her album bomb doesn’t occupy the top ten?

What are we going to do when Adele clears 1m for her album first week but her album bomb doesn’t occupy the top ten? Do you really want to do this again? Why aren't multiple Taylor Swift songs going to gain exponentially on the Hot 100 following a massive 140-150k+ sales boost for Fearless (Taylor's Version) this week? If Adele wants a CLB-esque album bomb, her album simply needs to be dominant on streaming upon release (a similar result can also be achieved if her fans buy multiple tracks in bulk off her album on iTunes/Amazon Music upon release). 40-50k+ digital sales + 25-30M streams for each track upon the album's release should do the trick.

I mean, take away YoungBoy releasing 2 extra songs/an instrumental version of his album mid-week and CLB would have easily remained #1 for a fourth consecutive week. Even with that, it was a 2k difference between his album/CLB this week. Take away Taylor's vinyl/CD boost and it'd be #1 for a fifth consecutive week so that person wasn't exactly inaccurate. CLB might even return to #1 next week if there isn't some major album release on Friday. That's how stable it's been since it dropped.

dremolus - solarpunk they can speak for themselves? And I don't get where you got that they're joking. They're bringing up something we've all already had a debate about now because they will bring it up again when Adele's album drops and start up another pointless debate that goes nowhere. I simply suggested a solution to the question they're posing now and I know they'll be posing weeks from now when Adele's album drops. That's all.

Nobody cares about album bombs when she can sell at least 1m copies of her album at her debut week and become the best selling album of 2021 in a few weeks.

We all had an entire conversation for hours about this topic weeks ago and now you're bringing it up because you're bored and you just wanna start sh*t up again when the album in question doesn't even drop for another 6 weeks. You’re clearly upset. I wasn’t bored. But while we all speculate about the album doing massive numbers in today’s climate (which is also not relevant for another 6 weeks), it was a legit thought I had that yes, does connect back to the discussion we already had the other week and I think now that Adele’s album is confirmed, it adds a new layer of discussion to that topic. To you, you seem threatened by the discussion or annoyed that I dared bring it up again. To me it’s an interesting discussion that, I admit, maybe should have its own thread, given that people were engaged in it and offering their input until you simply shut it down because you yourself were done with it while others may not have been. We can agree to disagree. I’m actually okay with that. I know where you stand because you explained it and that’s fine. I’m not sure why you’re so adamant to ensure the discussion never happens again - whether now or in six weeks. I promise it’s not personal even if I get the impression you think it is - and are trying to make it so by saying I’m bored and am stirring up shit. Honestly, that shit is annoying and insulting.

Devil Marlena NylundPlease, stop. I'm not upset and I'd appreciate it if you stopped suggesting that I was. On my part, I apologize for saying you were bored when you made that post. Other people brought up similar points/made similar arguments to the one I made the last time we had a discussion about the topic so don't make it out like I'm the only one who said what I said. No, the release of Adele's album doesn't add any layer to the discussion because there's really nothing to discuss when we know what the facts are. I have no reason to feel threatened or bothered by that discussion because I know what the facts are and I know that any more discussions anyone has outside that are hypothetical situations that'll never be made manifest and are therefore unnecessary (sure, you can have them and for suggesting that you or anyone else shouldn't, I apologize because I shouldn't have said that and people are free to discuss whatever they want to for as long as they want to). I also know that the only reason why you/other people keep bringing that particular subject up is because you still don't like that one artist who dominates the most in the streaming era is as dominant as they are (which are perfectly valid feelings to have). I feel the same way with the mass-buying topic as it concerns BTS and that's why I don't engage in it anymore. Most of us don't like it and we've expressed that multiple times. We all know what needs to be done to change that. Most importantly, we know it can be done but until Billboard decides to act on that change, (to me) it's silly at this point to keep complaining when a new BTS single drops and their fans mass-buy it to a high position on the charts. It simply is what it is at this point. My responses when we had the discussion regarding that topic were based on facts and what we know is possible. You are smart enough to understand that but you still want to have a pointless debate when you clearly know that the only way pure sales will ever count towards the Hot 100 is when digital singles for individual songs are purchased. You know that there's no way Billboard will ever count album sales for their singles chart and you also know that we're currently in the SPS (sales PLUS streaming) era. If the pure sales for every album in history has never counted towards the Hot 100, why do you now think Billboard will/should come up with some bogus formula to account for album sales on their singles chart (which won't be based on an accurate account of consumption for each song off any given album seeing as there's simply no way to know how many times the songs off an album get played after an album is purchased) simply because there are artists now able to debut multiple songs in the top 10 following the release of their albums via the streaming activity of each song that Billboard can now accurately account for? I even pointed out that Taylor Swift had mini-album bombs with albums she released before Billboard ever accounted for streaming because her fans purchased enough digital copies of individual songs off those albums for them to chart on the Hot 100. That's still a thing that's possible today. It's not something Billboard has secretly discontinued. You just don't see it happening anymore because of how pure sales have weakened over the years. My response to you wasn't me being upset. It was factual and based on what I know Billboard allows in regards to songs charting on the Hot 100 based on sales/streaming activity and how I figured Adele would be able to score a CLB-esque top 10 dominance with the songs off her album (which I would very much love to see btw). About me saying what you really have an issue with is one artist being as dominant as they are on streaming, I don't even mean you hate them as an artist (as far as I know, at most, you don't care for their music and I can never be upset at someone about something like that, seeing as there are popular/successful musicians I don't care for myself). What I think is ridiculous is how when acts like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo or Lil Nas X chart multiple songs in the top 10 simultaneously (thanks largely to the streaming era you tend to be so critical of when it's convenient for you), you have no issues with that and even praise them for being able to pull that off. If Taylor Swift (or any other artist you liked/enjoyed) scored 9 top 10 debuts with their next album, I can bet you'd have nothing but praise and positive remarks for them but the moment the artist you don't care for pulls it off, it's another tired debate aimed at trying to make achievements in the streaming era seem illegitimate or trying to act like streams aren't an accurate representation of music consumption activity in the world today. That's what I'm tired of. That's why I think further discussion/debate about album sales counting towards the Hot 100 are redundant. That never happened throughout the peak of the physical sales/digital sales era and it sure as hell won't happen now that pure sales are in the gutter and weaker than ever before but if you and other people want to engage in further discussions about it, that's okay. Like I said earlier, I shouldn't have suggested that no one have further discussions about the topic and again, for that, I apologize. Sorry for the long post but that's all I have to say on the matter.

So, despite you being done with the discussion because you believe all that needed to be discussed has been (and you’ve ever right to believe that), am I allowed to bring up the discussion again when the time arrives because I believe there might be additional layers and talking points?

I also know that the only reason why you/other people keep bringing that particular subject up is because you still don't like that one artist who dominates the most in the streaming era is as dominant as they are (which are perfectly valid feelings to have). Okay but it really isn’t about him lol. And I know you think it is and I believe that’s why you’ve decided to jump on this particularly discussion point despite these threads being constantly filled with hypothetical situations and scenarios. We know Billboard won’t change anything because we’re discussing it. Does that mean we shouldn’t talk about it? As frustrating as your attempt at shutting down topics is, so too is your attempt at assuming everyone is out to bring Drake down. I promise that’s not my intention. I’ve been a chart watcher for over 25 years (😭), I’ve done statistics and value information and spreadsheets and accuracy. When I talk about charts, and chart rules, and everything that has to do with them, I value how they’re interpreted, which often includes providing context - and I realize that’s where it gets stick because context comes from interpretation and that’s where things can get cloudy because interpretation can involve opinions and people’s feelings. I do genuinely try to not let those cloud my perspectives and how I read the information, but I know I’m not always going to be successful. And that’s where the value of having the discussions comes in, even if they’ll only ever be hypothetical. When it comes to past situations, we can’t change the past. But when it involves ones in the future, it’s still interesting (to me) to have discussions of “what if” and “why or why not” around certain methods and chart rules and tabulations. About me saying what you really have an issue with is one artist being as dominant as they are on streaming, I don't even mean you hate them as an artist (as far as I know, at most, you don't care for their music and I can never be upset at someone about something like that, seeing as there are popular/successful musicians I don't care for myself). Idk, the fact LNX was able to score somewhat of an album bomb off of 130k? seemed a bit odd to me, I won’t lie. And ftr, I have been critical of Taylor’s chart showings in the past. But it is odd to me that you don’t question an album with 600-700k album units being able to occupy nine of the top ten of the Hot 100 while many many other albums with higher numbers have never come close to that level of domination. Am I the one with clouded judgment based on my favs, or is it you? I’m not looking for an answer btw, but the way you come for anyone who questions anything about this achievement is what makes me and others question your judgment in these discussions. Quite frankly, I think anyone who dismisses his achievements are trolls but anyone who refuses to allow any context in discussion is wearing rose-coloured glasses while sticking their fingers in their ears.

What are we going to do when Adele clears 1m for her album first week but her album bomb doesn’t occupy the top ten? also like it’s not impossible for Adele to do this and have a crazy album bomb lol, there’s just no precedent for an Adele release in the age of streaming so we have no way to know if it’s going to flop on streaming (comparatively) or every soccer mom asks their teen for the login to the Spotify family plan and the bottom album tracks get 50m+ US lol

Do whatever you want. Like you suggested, a thread might be better so the discussion is more focused but I've said all I have to say on the subject.

Devil Marlena Nylund interesting that the only parts of my post you responded to are the parts that referred to Drake and not the remaining bulk of my points which have absolutely nothing to do with him. Can't say I'm surprised as you've always found a way to reduce everything I say to paint me as some blind stan who is mindlessly defensive of him and can't say anything outside of that context. Whatever, man. Good luck.

That’s because the rest was mainly about your feelings on the topic itself which you’ve made clear you didn’t want to talk about and I already acknowledged that you’re perfectly fine to feel that way and to not want to talk further about it. Beyond that, I was simply responding to clarify the parts you said about me. I’m not sure why that’s a problem. It seems we feel the same way about each other and we both claim the other is wrong about that. I’m not trying to make an enemy out of you and I’m not trying to cause a stir. I’d rather us resolve this or just agree to disagree and move on because I do consider you one of the greater posters in the Hot 100 threads.

Adele, much like Taylor is gonna do much better on album sales than streams, so neither act is gonna have a huge album bomb a la Drake.
Taylor in particular is an album full of old material. The #1 on BB200 is the win for her.

Lil Baby’s album still being a staple in the top 20 after like 20 months is insane. It never had a real mainstream crossover hit.

We'll see if The Highlights actually ends up above After Hours in the Billboard 200 as it did week.

Love for Sale did even better than projected, amazing!!!! Before I was a little dismissive and said I wasn't interested in this at all, but I actually forced myself to give a few of the songs a listen, and I'm glad I did because it wasn't actually that bad and a lot of the talent still shines through Tony's voice. It's especially touching since he has Alzheimer's, which is really a tragedy to go through and quite an ordeal for friends and family members if anyone has experience with that, but the fact that he is still able to express himself in this way, and even recently performed a couple concerts at Radio City Music Hall just shows how much a true singer's talent can stay with them until they die and it's great that he has this one little joy left in his life.

You put it perfectly into words!!
The segment on 60 Minutes is one of the most touching things I've ever seen, and it's not even because Gaga is involved. It's because Tony comes into life when he enters the stage and is somehow able to create the magic even though he probably don't remember where he lives.
