"All Too Well" in particular was a bit laughable at the end when it had a huge lead and she kept releasing gimmicks and new versions. Would have done wonders if they held to some of those for weeks 2 and 3. Thankfully it's holding on well without the gimmicks. I'd say it's easily her biggest single since YNTCD at least? I honestly wonder if her team didn't know whether ATW5+10min would be combined and did all that to ensure the #1 even if they didn't combine? The longevity on Spotify now that we're beginning its 4 week rivals pretty much anything she's put out since her return to Spotify.

The 10M version on it's own is impressively holding on, but add the other versions and it's really doing her most impressive streaming run so far I'd say (Spotify era, I know she streamed extremely well on Youtube back in the day).

Yeah, I'd say so and I didn't get why she did that as well. Like 3 days into the tracking week, it was pretty clear it was going to debut at #1 just based on it's streaming performance alone, so seeing all the cheesy versions of the song being needlessly released that same week just seemed like doing too much. I also find it interesting that ATW (TV) [so far] is serving more stability than willow and cardigan did at the same point following their release. I guess that's what happens when you build up anticipation around a song for almost 10 years and it lives up to the hype when it finally gets released. Interestingly, I don't really see anything wrong with a song that's been stable on the charts using a remix/remixes to get a boost to a higher position because it's stability would have already proved that it was actually being steadily consumed but there's just something especially tacky about using those gimmicks just to secure the #1 debut, especially because probably more than ever before, a #1/top 10 debut doesn't necessarily equate to a song being a hit. There are many songs that never reached the top 10 that are way bigger/more recognizable hits than songs that did so really it all just boils down to whether or not you're concerned enough about the novelty of being able to say your song reached #1/the top 10 or not. The top 10 of the Hot 100 has become like the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. Labels and artists will bend their backs to have albums debut at #1 just to be able to say it did but there are several massive albums on the Billboard 200 which never peaked at #1 but have outperformed albums that did. I've only been a chart watcher for a couple of years but I'm already desensitized to song/album positions on charts. I totally get why artists and labels care about them but they truly don't matter in the bigger picture. Planet Her has already outperformed Call Me If You Get Lost by a wide margin and it never got to peak at #1. Same with how Levitating managed to be the biggest song of the year without ever peaking at #1. Stability/longevity on the charts is really all that matters and I feel like that's what artists should strive for, especially newer acts who might not be able to reach #1 peaks easily at the current stage of their careers.

I don't like the gymnastics you try to do to make Taylor seem "bigger". She's already a big deal without that. "Willow" was a sales/fan-fueled #1 peak just like "Permission To Dance" or "Franchise". That doesn't take away from evermore selling well or Taylor Swift being a huge star. She also did that to herself though by choosing to release it in peak Christmas. It would have been a relatively easy #1 if she'd waited a few weeks. Actually nvm forgot DL dropped when it did. She was lucky with her timing in the end! I'm still glad she released the dancing witch remix of willow though 'cuz that version is it.

Lmao at you consistently saying "#1 Spotify" to misleadingly hide the fact it was #4 on Overall Streaming (while the "runner up" song was #1 on Streaming). And yeah, reaching #1 on sales with 5 different versions released that week and discounted to 39 cents is kind of expected. π

amazon music is relevant for like a month each year, ok. The irony of you discrediting a song for having huge numbers βon a service that is relevant for like a month each yearβ when you of all people are the first to brag about pure sales achievements, a dying metric that is irrelevant 90% of the time in 2021 is absolutely hilarious.

He needed all 8 of his discounted versions of IB to beat out My Universe for the sales #1 and Stay for the Hot 100 #1. If LNX only had 5 versions, he would have likely fallen short on both charts. BTS might be going to a whole new level this week with the Holiday Remix of Butter, which has all of its versions discounted at the website store. If it re-enters at #1 (and subsequently falls off the chart again), it would be an even bigger fluke than its 10th week at #1 and ATW's week at #1.
