That's one of the worst single day losses I've ever seen. And for what? Did Adele kill multiple PD's dogs? 😭

Everyone is being so dramatic as usual. This got a top 5 peak on the Hot 100 and was a hit around the world.

This not even making top 10 on CHR is still so perplexing to me. I thought it was a total bop and it hitting a brickwall and then dropping so hard, especially with "Easy on Me" on the way out, just seems so odd.

Even with no promo I kind of expected it to at least reach #10 and go down quietly. Not a LWYMMD level of radio hate and spin decreases.

This already have the largest negative bullet in the chart. Might be out of the top 20 by Wednesday if it continue to fall as hard as it currently did. Who the hell did she piss off that this get dropped as hard as it does?

Kinda shocking tbh I thought we all wanted something uptempo and fresh, and she delivered with this IMO. And we’ve seen worse callouts for songs that peaked higher. By the way, I finally watched the video a couple days ago and found it delightful. I liked it more than EOM. I believe it would’ve been much better in color, but it was quite artistic and she looked gorgeous. I wonder if the Vegas cancellation has anything to do with this. It felt like we were entering Adele cancellation season last month…

She's more of an albums artist. She sold millions of albums already and the lead single was #1 for 10 weeks. She probably won't get another big hit off this album. She doesn't need another big hit as long as the album continues to sell good. The album is nearly out of the top 10 in the U.S. so it's not even continuing to sell well. Everyone is being so dramatic as usual. This got a top 5 peak on the Hot 100 and was a hit around the world. The top 5 peak is obviously misleading; that was based off people checking out the album the first week. In terms of the actual popularity of the song when it had to stand on its own, it ultimately pretty much flopped.

Olivia Rodrigo's Sour. I think the point you're trying to make is pure sales, in which case it's Reputation (I think)

I didn't say it's total isn't good, I said "it's not even continuing to sell well." That was a specific response because leonawagon wrote "...as long as the album continues to sell good."

That was a specific response because leonawagon wrote "...as long as the album continues to sell good." I didn’t ask for a bitchy response. I literally asked what was the last album that sold more than 2 million units. But I was rightfully corrected when I should have mentioned pure sales. Also even if 30 falls out of the top 10 doesn't mean it's no longer selling well either.

Then why did you ask that question in a reply to what I wrote, as opposed to its own question? It means exactly that, actually, at least IMO. It has already fallen behind albums that have been out longer, and falling out of the top 10 would likely mean falling behind even more of them. The album hasn't even been out for 4 months yet. I doubt anyone expect it to be out of the top 10 that quickly.

But it should be added that when it comes to how much the album is selling week to week in pure sales, it’s still outselling others outside of debut weeks. Roughly 10k a week after already selling 1.5 which albums never sell anymore

Well it's hard to say it but this officially flopped. It’s so weird that who is arguably the biggest artist in the world continuously flops with single #2. This isn’t the first time this has happened. It’s like Michael Jackson or Madonna from the 80’s flopping on single #2. It just doesn’t seem possible. Alanis Morissette flopped hard on "Unsent" her second single from "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie".

Not every song from an A list artist will be a big hit. All artists have some subpar chart performances. Adele will be just fine. Her album is still selling well and when her Los Vegas residency tour resumes, she will sell out every show.

With the Grammys coming up, I hope they move onto single #3 soon and she performs it there.
I don't think Adele was even here for "Oh My God" as a single given she didn't perform it at either of her specials or promote it on the BRITS saying she didn't think people wanted that from her.
I'm assuming "I Drink Wine" will be pushed as the 3rd single.
On the plus side it looks like it'll have decent longevity in streaming thanks to its global success. I do find the lack of playlisting support for the song strange on spotify though. I would've thought her second single would get a top 5/10 placing on Today's Top Hits on spotify, instead of hovering the 15-20 mark for weeks on end. Although it's most probably suffering a bit from the strong support it got when the album was released and "Easy On Me" still being so big.

I personally don't see I Drink Wine doing any better than this tbh. Cry Your Heart Out is the hit. And it probably won't be a single. Meanwhile I never understood while many, including Adele herself, doesn't believe people don't want this sound from her when Rumour Has It, Send My Love, and Rolling in the Deep aren't really all that different from this.

I think it'll do better just based on the fact that Adele seems to adore the song so she'll likely try to get it pushed/promote it more. That and if the video is as camp/over the top as she says it is, it might have the possibility of going viral. Heck, maybe she'll even release the 15 minute version of "I Drink Wine".

I would love Love Is a Game and Cry Your Heart Out to be singles after I Drink Wine, but ... we all want things.
And then I wouldn't mind (Cum and) Get It being the final single if there's still momentum.
(And yes, I suppose OMG's "misleading top 5 peak" served Ready for It as well)

Yeah, I Drink Wine should be next, then can we start pushing for Can I Get It? As much as I love OMG, I think CIGI would suit an Adele single better. I just feel like she would be more comfortable performing it live than OMG (maybe an acoustic version with just a guitar, that sort of thing).

Is there gonna be a radio edit of “I Drink Wine” because I really don’t see radio giving a ton of spins to a 6 minute song? Plus, the song length could hinder the number of streams it gets too. I love the song but I don’t see it going far as a single.
The only viable single options left on the album after “Oh My God” are “Can I Get It” and “Cry Your Heart Out”. Everything else either wouldn’t work on radio or would need a radio edit due to song length.

I don’t get why Adele said that people don’t wanna hear her do an uptempo. Who told her that? Hasn’t she seen how people react to RITD? That’s your signature song gurl and it’s almost the only uptempo song you give to people! We know she likes to (pole) dance and even in the OMG video she had a few subtle moves. That’s all we need. We don’t want you to do a forced choreo. We’ve learned from Mariah Whatever happens, let’s just do some well aligned promo! Don’t put Wine as single and perform EOM at the Grammys. Enough of the nonsense

We're getting "Easy on Me" or, even worse, a random non single we've heard already live like "Hold On" at the Grammys, prepare for it.

I’m so peeved at the way her label is handling this era so far. This could have been avoided if they weren’t trying to appeal to Tik Tok. They should have never picked OMG as the follow up to EOM based on initial reactions. I’m sure Adele would have gone with something else but the label is clearly trying to appeal to the streaming crowd with generic uptempos. 30 doesn’t need any bumps in the road with the way things are going. It literally 25 all over again, only difference is they launched WWWY too early and that became a fan favorite only because it was a popular album cut. They should have halted the follow up of any single until the 2nd or 3rd week of March. Maybe OMG would have done better in the spring. It obviously isn’t a bad song, but I always campaigned against it being a single because it isn’t very Adele. If I were a fan of Adele’s, why would I want to buy 30 based off of OMG? It’s head scratching.
