I’m thinking this goes top 5 maybe even #1. It’s not very old in terms of how long it’s taking most songs to climb. It still sounds fresh and new. They should release a video for this soon. I think their strategy with this one was to push it on Spotify to help influence radio to take it top 30, where it could receive positive callouts carrying it further, before any real active promotion (video, award show performances). We'll see. For what it's worth, I didn't love it initially. But it grew on me quickly, I've played it a ton, and it hasn't burned on me at all. Regardless of Carrie's complete lack of radio momentum at the moment, I can see it reaching the top 5 easily, even making it to the top if timing is right.

I can only hope her team is this innovative, because they've been in hibernation the entirety of the D&R era. Would love a video, even if it's just so it can get a CMT nomination, to warrant an award show performance of it, because as of now she hasn't released anything to garner a nomination for one.

They certainly need to do something. Carrie has essentially vanished from everyone’s radar. After HMH flopped and the D&R tour ended, it seems like they just gave up on the era. OOTT should have a proper video. This would be the first Carrie single to not have a music video.

This one's still hanging in there despite literally no buzz or promo.

This one's still hanging in there despite literally no buzz or promo. No buzz? This is streaming very well. It's her #2 song on Spotify currently, even with it being removed from the Hot Country playlist recently. It even already has more total streams than "Ghost Story" and that song had a full calendar year advantage and was a top 10 airplay hit while this one has merely grazed top 30 so far. "Truck" is probably her most buzz-worthy solo single since "Church Bells," even if it limping up the airplay chart would suggest otherwise.

I would argue "Dirty Laundry" was more buzzed than this song. But that's pretty much splitting hairs and I overall agree with indulge that this is one of her most buzzed about solo singles in a while. I do wish radio would take to this more and it was testing a little better so they would.
But this should definitely keep at a solid pace and hopefully make the Top 15/10 on both charts at least.

I don't get the argument that this isn't connecting. I agree that it's settled a lot, and they really did it a disservice wasting the first 3 months it was released (when it was most buzzed about) pushing HMH, before making it a single. I just don't think some of the older acts have fanbases that will hype a song up for a 10 month chart run like some of the newer female acts do (Heart Like a Truck, What He Didn't Do.) Because when they were at peak, we were getting new singles every 3-4 months.
It was in the HCS playlist for 8 months. That seems pretty standard for a song given the duration of chart runs these days. And already nearly 40 million Spotify streams is pretty impressive given it's chart position on radio, and that CU debuted long ahead of the streaming era.

As this is ranked #39 on MMI, which while not bad is pretty mediocre at best, which probably explains why this song is doing pretty middle of the road since the new year.

Any updates on how this is doing? Dropping without bullet. It will go recurrent next week unless it gains.

Ugh, it is so frustrating to see this potentially falling off the chart when the song has come so far and we’ve seen plenty of songs make top 10 after 50+ weeks on the chart. Radio, please play this!

I do think there's a bit of an overreaction here. Yes this did lose its bullet on Billboard but if the losses are minimal it will stay on the chart next week, and given the fact this is still being promoted doesn't indicate this song is getting sent recurrent as soon as next week. I will say this song has been more inconsistent than outright bad during its chart run since the new year, the last couple of weeks haven't been ideal but it can easily bounce back from this imo.

Hasn't it just had a few pretty strong weeks as well? I assume its recent losses can be chalked up to chart politics and borrowing spins, but we shall see.

It had a relatively good few weeks after the holiday shutdown (most songs did due to the regaining of spins), but if I remember correctly OOTT gained better than most of the songs around it.
If she can hold off the songs behind her, she'll be top 20 on Sunday, but Ashley and Sam are coming pretty quick behind her, and she hasn't been gaining much the past week or so.
It's frustrating to see how her/her label handled this song. Outside of the playlisting in Spotify, both her and the label have done very little promo wise for this. She's either too busy posting her garden or baking.

So, if this song is done, why doesn’t Capitol try to push it to get it top 20? Its had a negative update for 5+ days now. With its age, it’s going to go recurrent when this could at least make top 15. Carrie needs to get out of the garden and get back out there!

But this song isn't done, it's gained over 50 spins the past two days on Mediabase, and gained its bullet back on Billboard. It's not moving the world, and is getting kind of lost in the 20s on country radio, but the song is still being promoted and isn't in that much danger of going recurrent on either chart soon unless the bottom gives out, which I don't think it will yet.

If it does go recurrent, how does it work for reentering the charts? Is it completely ineligible?
I can't believe we're talking about a Carrie Underwood single. I knew this day would come, but ugh. We never would've had this conversation 10 years ago. Worrying about if a Carrie Underwood single would go recurrent before hitting the top 20.

Nice to know I’m not the only one feel like this.LOL If 10 years ago this one would have easily peaked at no.1 or at least no.2 a few months ago. Deep in my heart always know that Carrie cannot keep her streaks forever and I just hope she would keep it longer. I still hold the belief that if she stayed at Sony it would hold a little longer.

Yeah how her career has been handled at UMG, is seriously miss after miss. From the promo to the single choices (minus this one.)

But for me, the hardest part is not about accepting this. Is not about the label not doing any decent promo either. For me, it's watching this day arrive mainly due to Carrie herself who seemed to have stopped caring. I lost the passion in following her career because of that tbh. I get that she wants to focus on touring and Vegas. But for an international fan, that doesn't excite me as she would never tour outside of US anymore. And if this pattern continues, like all legacy acts, they kinda just do the same past hit songs every tour.

Honestly how they handled this song wasn't great either as they waited a bit too long after the initial hype as they kept with "Hate My Heart", said promo for this song has been pretty mediocre at best, also I am shocked they didn't do a music video for this song as it would lend itself well for one, and would've helped generate more buzz and interest. Not that music videos are as popular as they once were, but I still feel like that would've helped this song. The biggest problem I am honestly having with Carrie Underwood is that it feels like at times she and her team just don't care beyond embracing the legacy act mantra. This album era feels like something that is going to be forgotten of in record time and everything is on autopilot. This song is still being promoted obviously and I do think it will hang around until the end of March if I had to guess. But this whole era just feels mismanaged from radio, promo, and it's hard to care when at times it feels like Carrie Underwood doesn't care herself.

Sure the last few singles have been awful choices for Carrie but I also think her time is just coming to an end much like others in her era. Blake, Miranda, Luke, Keith have all released good / radio friendly songs in the past couple years but they just didn't catch on. Carrie is like Shania she has a huge catalog of songs and will always be able to draw a large crowd at shows. I think Carrie is ok with this.

Yeah I really feel like they just didn’t capitalize on this when they needed to. If this made it to 38 on HCS 4 months after release. I bet it would’ve made a pretty big splash if it was pushed as soon as it was dropped. In all honesty. She probably should’ve just scrapped the D&R era after HMH. And made this a lead with an hourly debut to help give it a little kick start to its chart run. I too have started to feel like she doesn’t care anymore about her career, which is sad, for me because I fully believe that there was/is success for her to be had in her 40s-50s. Will it be like that of her peak? No, but it definitely wouldn’t be the nosedive we have seen this era. (Well, actually starting last era, if we’re talking radio success.)
