Rich Flex doesn't even have a music video though, so that's unlikely to be in VOTY. I do think I saw somewhere that all of the nominations leaked a couple weeks back.

Dying to know the list of performers. I hope the Kylie rumor is true, haven't heard anything from a concrete source.

I’d love for Taylor to open the show with a “Vigilante Shit”/“Cruel Summer” mashup. I think the tour performance would look great on the VMA stage.

Hope Miley gets the Vanguard Award, I think with Flowers success this year it's her best chance. It's also great timing with the 10 year anniversary of Bangerz and her infamous VMA performance.

The irony of Beyonce being nominated for artist of the year at the VMAs despite releasing zero music videos over the past year for Renaissance.

It's a shame that "In your love" by Tyler Childers didn't get nominated. In my opinion, it is the best video that came out this year.

A lot of these artists are also members of SAG. Does this mean they will not be able to attend/perform at the show?

A lot of these artists are also members of SAG. Does this mean they will not be able to attend/perform at the show? No. The only part of SAG that is striking relates to TV/Film. If they are a member of SAG and are performing a soundtrack song, then that most likely would be a problem as it would be seen as promoting struck work. I think the only person this would really apply to would be Dua Lipa for her Barbie track that is nominated in Best Pop. Though, I doubt she would even attend regardless as she's only up for that one award.

This is kind of C-list but Stray Kids will surely bring some social media action so at least there's that

This is kind of C-list but Stray Kids will surely bring some social media action so at least there's that Fifty Fifty is probably out of the question because of their issues right now, and NewJeans got zero nominations and seem pretty busy so I guess they won't be performing either. So basically the two biggest K-Pop groups of the year here in the west won't be performing LOL.

I respectfully disagree, selling out concerts doesn't mean anything in terms of popularity with the GP. None of those groups you listed have gotten the airplay that Cupid has gotten and none have the streaming power of NewJeans in the west right now. NewJeans has been tearing up the streaming charts all year, and the fact that it's completely organic compared to groups like BTS and Blackpink who get huge commercial pushes whenever they release a single. Stray Kids, Seventeen, etc. might get there eventually and I'm not denying that they are talented, but the numbers don't lie and Fifty Fifty and New Jeans are the biggest K-Pop groups in the US right now. The VMA's used to celebrate the biggest acts of their respective years, so having those groups left off the performance/nomination list is disappointing.

The VMA's used to celebrate the biggest acts of their respective years, so having those groups left off the performance/nomination list is disappointing. 동의해 / 동의 안해 (agree to disagree) KPop wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now due to steaming platforms and TikTok (and I have been a K-pop fan for many years before even BTS got airplay). I stand by the groups I listed still being generally more well known and popular. The groups you listed are in their infancy making massive waves, yes, but popularity wise the groups making a name for themselves are still groups like SKZ. They’re hitting these markers earlier because of the groups that have paved the way, hence why Stray Kids is performing. They have longevity in the industry and the fan base backing them who have been with them for YEARS. To perform on the VMA’s is a huge accomplishment for a Korean act. Stray kids will be the 1st 4th generation K-pop group to do so and only the 3rd in K-pop history. One can’t downplay that because they prefer young girl groups who have a very large teenage base who are far more active on platforms.

I really think MTV should have had a female K-pop group on the show since the girls are the ones dominating the South Korea Circle music chart. NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, Aespa, Fifty Fifty and of course Blackpink. (Pink Venom was leading by a large amount in the K-pop music video nomination on polls i've seen on Twitter). One of them should be at the Awards show. The Girl groups have tour & promote in the US more than the guy groups have done so far.
