Do people watch the VMAs for the wins though? You know damn well if Lady Gaga was nominated you would be rooting for her to win. People who's favorites are nominated watch the show hoping that their favorite wins. While people who's favorite isn't nominated just watch the show for entertainment.

The draw of the VMAs has been the culture, controversies, big moments, off-the-wall performances, etc. The Grammys are where the wins are a bigger deal. Obviously I'll root for my favourites. It's stupid to suggest otherwise, but the VMAs as an 'award' don't have the pull or respectability as a Grammy in the music world. It's like watching the Kid's Choice Awards to see who wins. Who cares? You watch it for the entertainment.

Anyway I wonder if winning a grammy is a big deal anymore, considering what happened at the last Grammy awards where Beyonce got robbed from winning the album of the year award from Harry Styles even though most music critics said that Beyonce had the best album of the year.
