Ladies and Gentlemen that's the king of RNB right there 👑✨👑 I'm grading on a curve btw cause he could've easily lipped the whole thing and put on a bigger show but that man sang LIVE for majority if not all stamina! I like talent.

My personal predictions for the setlist: You Make Me Wanna Caught Up There Goes My Baby (Interlude) My Boo (with Alicia Keys) Confessions Part II U Remind Me / U Don’t Have To Call Love In This Club OMG / DJ Got Us Fallin In Love Yeah! (with Lil Jon & Ludacris) Possible: Standing Next To You (Dance Break) U Got It Bad / Burn (mashup) Somebody To Love (if Justin Bieber shows up?) Not Likely: Scream Without You What I Got Right: Caught Up ✅ My Boo (with Alicia Keys) ✅ Confessions Part II ✅ U Don’t Have To Call ✅ Love In This Club ✅ OMG ✅ Yeah! (With Lil Jon and Ludacris) ✅

Definitely way more lively than some of the snoozy performers we've gotten in the past several years. He sounded great as well. The way Alicia came in sounding like death though, haha. Gurl. The setlist was super choppy and didn't flow, but that's literally every Halftime show IMO.
In terms of the Superbowl, I get that these artists have a lot of hits and feel the need to cover all the ground, but I wish they'd pick 5-6 hits and just sing those rather than trying to cram a million moments into 12 minutes.

This man has hittts. I wish I liked this more, but still a great performance, can't wait to re-watch when it comes out on YT. I know he probably hates his EDM era, but there's no reason to ignore DJ Got Us Falling In Love, that song was made for the halftime show. Also, Yeah! part needed to be much stronger IMO.
It'll be sooooo hard to top Shakira/JLo's halftime, that performance was just on another level.

They only memorable parts were the skates and "Yeah". I needed more visuals.

I agree dj got us falling in love was a huge omission. He already sang omg at the superbowl before we really didn’t need it again. Overall I thought this was strong.

So none of the songs from his new album, not even just one or two, even though he just put it out literally on Friday and it would've been great promotion!! This happens again and again with halftime performers neglecting their most recent releases (Timberlake, Gaga, e.g.). A stipulation probably exists that the NFL requires them to perform mostly or almost exclusively their most well-known hits.

Usher's performance was absolute FIRE! But the setlist was a partial miss for me.

Madonna also launched Gimme All Your Lovin on the show. And Beyoncé did Formation when she was a guest on Coldplay's show. Timberlake also did Filthy no?

Gaga made her current single Million Reasons the centerpiece of her halftime show which literally turned it from a flop into a top 5 moderate hit…

This happens again and again with halftime performers neglecting their most recent releases (Timberlake, Gaga, e.g.). It has to be a stipulation that the NFL requires them to perform mostly or almost exclusively their most well-known hits. I'll repeat my bolded points above: neglecting their most recent releases and performing mostly or almost exclusively their most well-known hits does not mean completely neglecting their most recent releases or exclusively performing only their most well-known hits. I do remember Million Reasons, Filthy, Give Me All Your Lovin, etc., and how they were heavily featured. But those were all just one current song out of a setlist of maybe a dozen. I would have expected maybe at least 2 or 3 current songs, but maybe my expectations are a bit too high, so I'll backtrack on that a bit. It just seemed to me, especially at the time of viewing those performances before I really knew the system, that they would skew more towards promoting their current release, since many of them all had new albums released literally within days of performing. Also, my point of how Usher performed zero songs from his new album still stands. He could have performed at least Good Good.

The norm is usually one song, but if it’s zero songs and you can back that up, then why not. I don’t think I’ve seen a headliner perform more than 1 new song. Maybe I’m wrong I just don’t remember it. Plus he’s been out of the scene which seems like more than a decade. If you have to sacrifice a slot for a new song TO REMIND everyone of an old song, maybe the trade off was worth it.

Well yeah, we don't know it as fact and it's never been directly reported that the NFL does that, so it was just a logical conclusion I made after viewing many halftime shows over the years that a stipulation probably exists (changed the wording a bit to my op) that they require artists to perform mostly their well-known hits. No need to get salty.

I watched with a huge smile on my face, loved his energy and devotion. Great outfits as well.
Yeah the first part was a bit slow and thankfully it picked up halfway. It was a great show for R&B. Loved the skates part!

And the “truth tea” (- Lady Gaga) is that even these people out there who supposedly want to see the new songs won’t remember they were performed 😂

Yeah in general I do agree cramming in a ton of songs is generally tough to pull off. The transitions need to be seamless to help keep the flow going (like that transition from "Turn Down for What" into "Yeah"), but sometimes the transitions are abrupt and also it's hard to truly get into any one song when it's over in like 1 minute. I'm sure it's partly about showing off the catalog of hits, but sadly it also probably fits the attention-deficit culture we've been developing for awhile now.
