idk about y’all but this seemed like the perfect choice, great stage presence, tons of hits, just an overall legend + he’s releasing new music which he can promote there too so this definitely is a good choice

I like his music a lot, but cannot help thinking that he should've done it in 2010.

Great performer with multiple hits but I’m just generally not interested in male headliners lol. It’ll be a cool halftime show that goes smoothly. Can’t wait to see who the guests are!

One of the strongest male choices left in my opinion. He infamously is meh on his edm / simple pop hits. He has 4. Normally the superbowl wants that worldwide appeal I’m curious how many he does from:
Dj falling in love Scream Omg Without you
I’m positive yeah, caught up and love in this club are shoe ins. Yeah we ll probably have Luda and lil Jon

Great choice! I love Usher as a performer and an artist. And he's the sole performer (obviously he'll have a guests, I guess). Impressed.

I like his music a lot, but cannot help thinking that he should've done it in 2010. When he appeared as the guest for BEP, I thought it was a mistake because he already had a catalog by then to do one on his own. And if his height wasn't during the boobgate backlash and subsequent veteran parade, I'm very sure he would have been asked in the late 00s. He's still a solid choice, could have definitely done far worse.

I agree, would have been better in the mid 10s or so but not a bad choice.
Let's not forget he has 15 CHR Top 10 hits though. He def. has the catalogue for it.
also, he has to have one of the longest/most #2 on CHR in history I'd say? He had 5 #2 in a row and 6 total on CHR. Poor guy lol missed out on a lot of #1s

Totally unexpected, but I'm happy with it!
Usher has done such a sloppy job upholding his legacy and his career over the last decade. I hope this is a reminder to people of just how great he is and the hits/moments he served at his peak.

Honestly a really great choice. Really good catalogue of songs to choose from and should hopefully help his next album/project. Plus he's a great performer. Hopefully everything goes well.

Usher was always my top choice for the Super Bowl Halftime show, so I'm really excited this is true. This is very long overdue. He's an amazing performer and will deliver a fantastic show!

Would've been relevant a generation ago ... it'll be a good show, but most of the setlist 20-25 years old. Isn't this the case for....most performers? I'm so tired of seeing this comment lol. Like were Prince, Madonna, Shakira/J. Lo, Eminem/Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg, etc in their commercial primes when they performed? Even someone like Rihanna technically did an entire performance of old hits from years ago. If anything it makes a bit more sense for artists past their primes, when the average person watching the SuperBowl is a middle-aged 40 year old. Past his prime or not, to most viewers he's gonna be a much more familiar face, familiar music, and get more excitement than someone contemporary like Doja Cat or Harry Styles.

Would've been relevant a generation ago ... it'll be a good show, but most of the setlist 20-25 years old. Huh? "Yeah!" is obviously iconic and will be exactly 20 years old at the time of the show, but hit songs like "Without You" (13 years old by next year), "OMG" (14 years old by next year), "Scream" (12 years old by next year), etc are much more recent that range. We of course don't know the setlist yet, but he has plenty of bangers that are newer than 20-25 years old. I have honestly been shocked at the disrespect being put on Usher's name since this announcement (I'm including things I've seen on other social media). He was relevant in the TRL age, relevant in the mid-2000s dominance of R&B, and then transitioned to have hits in the EDM era of the early 10s. Usher crosses generations and audiences and is an overall entertainer who currently has a successful Vegas residency. He is perfect for this!

It is not just teenagers watching the Super Bowl. Putting older artists on stage makes sense
