Ghostwriting

I work with someone who is friends with a ghostwriter (refuses to give me their name - rightfully so), and they have shared the ghostwriter's spotify playlist with me (sadly, I don't use spotify, but I went through the playlist to see what all they had worked on - since that is what the playlist consists of.) I was beyond surprised by some of the songs/artists that were there - some major artists, some indie artists that I recognized, but also a ton of songs/artists I have never heard of.
My co-worker does not know the specifics of finances, other than their friends' post-secondary education has been and continues to be paid for thanks to their work - which I find super cool and interesting. My thoughts however always go to: "I wonder how much this person gets paid?" (as I said earlier, some are major artists and others not so much, so imo there must be some sort of tier system depending on who is requesting their songs), "Does this person care that their music has won awards and they get no credit whatsoever for it?", "Will they continue to ghostwrite after their university days are over?"
Also adding to the above - and not to discredit all of the artists/songs, as my co-worker said it varies how much of the songs are being contributed by their friend. Some artists will give them an idea, or a type of sound they're looking for, and it'll go from there. Some songs are solely written by the friend, and released how it was originally sent off just obviously a new recording of it.
I mainly look for the major artists, and will confirm that the first artist I looked for was Taylor Swift, as I had heard rumblings over the years that she uses one. However, she was not on the playlist - so, if she has a ghostwriter, it's not this person (tbh, I'm really not sure she does and if she does, I would lean towards thinking it's not a practice she uses often.)
Anyway, I just wanted to share as I found it super cool. What are your thoughts on ghostwriters? On artists who use them (rappers have been doing this for ages, and it's been publicly known)? Does it make you question their capabilities, their stories/experiences/creative process that may actually not be true at all?
