Is Taylor Swift in the same position in her career that Beyoncé was after the release of her self-titled album? It feels like after Midnights she has moved from from being a pop superstar and is now a living legend.

I feel like she was already an industry titan and icon before Midnights and the tour, but they certainly elevated her to royalty/legendary status in the music industry. Like she's pulling similar levels of popularity/hysteria/mania Michael Jackson and The Beatles did in their heyday IMO.

In 2014 Taylor was going through a bigger peak than anything Beyonce has experienced in her career
Self-titled was just a successful era

The Beyonce album was probably one of the impactful in terms of changing or adjusting the landscape of how music is released. I’ve always seen that as a bit of a reset in some ways. Regardless of how “good” one might think the album is, it elevated Beyonce to new untouchable heights. Beyond that, I always saw Beyonce’s celebrity as being far beyond just her music. The entity of Beyonce is more than Beyonce the singer. Somehow, she’s become so much more than that.
In comparison, Taylor the artist is who she is. Taylor the celebrity doesn’t really exist without Taylor the artist/musician/songwriter/singer. So you could say Taylor is experience a bigger musical era than Beyonce ever has - I don’t think that’s untrue, but I think as far as popular public figures, Taylor very well could be in that unattainable space that Beyonce has been for much of the last decade. Untouchable, cultural royalty. (Also add Rihanna to that too)
(I also understand if none of that made sense to anyone. It barely does to me. I might need to rearriculate it better somehow)
