On AT40 this week, we took a look at the 40 biggest hits of 2023!
This year, with the pandemic well behind us, music is back to normal, especially in terms of concerts by artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Post Malone, Jelly Roll and etc. Also we saw old tunes are getting reused in a way in hit tunes like "Blue Da Be Dee" by Eiffel 65 (used in "I'm Good (Blue)"), "What is Love" by Haddaway (used in "Baby Don't Hurt Me"), "Walk On By" by Dionne Warwick (used in "Paint The Town Red"), "The Best Of My Love" by The Emotions (used in "Lil Boo Thang") and of course "Barbie Girl" by Aqua (used in "Barbie World").
"Calm Down" by REMA featuring Selena Gomez will be only the 2nd song ever on AT40 countdown to appear in 3 different calendar years (22-24), joining "Levitating" by Dua Lipa (former featuring Da Baby) (20-22) on that exclusive club ... It was also the slowest song to reach the top as it took 24 weeks .. While "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus took only 5 weeks to become this year's fastest to hit #1
The highest debut of the year going to "Dance The Night" by Dua LIpa and "Better Place" by *NSYNC, both debuted at #15 .. the latter is also the biggest drop-off at #19
The largest riser of 2023 belongs to "Kill Bill" by SZA as she moves up 19. . While "Single Soon" by Selena Gomez was 2023's greatest fall as she drop 19
The artist that had the most hits this year was Taylor Swift as she put 7 tunes on AT40: "Anti-Hero", "Lavender Haze", "All Of The Girls You Loved Before", "Karma", "Cruel Summer", "Slut!", and "Is It Over Now?'
