for example:
marshmello has two top 5s on the alt charts including a #1 mitski's current single is higher on the pop charts then the alternative (or hac) charts billie eilish has four #1s on the alt charts -- despite this, happier then ever (a straight up rock song that peaked at #13 on pop) couldn't even crack the top 40 over three quarters of the current hot 100 top 40 is at least ten years old the black eyed peas were at #1 for *half* of 2009
what else ?

Elvis Presley was the first artist to have 10 songs in the Billboard top 100 at once. (1956 pre-Hot 100).

Elton John and Kate Bush had top 10 hits in 2022. Linkin Park had a top 40 Hot 100 hit in 2023. MC Hammer had four songs peak higher than U Can’t Touch This. Rick Astley had more than one #1 hit. Elton John scored the biggest hit of his career in 1997. The biggest hit of 2001 was not Britney, J. Lo, Destiny’s Child, Shaggy, but a random minivan rock song.

Jennifer Warnes has had two #1 on the Billboard Hot 100... that's two more than James Brown, Shania Twain, Bruce Springsteen and the Backstreet Boys.

Glenn Medeiros hit #1 on the Hot 100 in the 90s. Despite only 5 #1 hits, Boyz II Men have spent 50 weeks at #1.

To add to the above, I didn’t realize LeAnn Rimes was only 14 or 15 for “How Do I Live?” She is usually left out of discussions about teenage stars of the late 90s because most people just mention Britney, Christina, Mandy Moore, N’Sync, and Hanson. Also amazing that Monica was a teen for all of her big hits too. She is often not mentioned either. But her and LeAnn both have an impressive record as teens and both great voices.

Definitely all of the mid-90s alt songs that spent months at #1 on radio charts but didnt chart on the Hot 100 because they weren't released as commercial singles. Don't Speak was the #1 all genre radio song for 1996, never charted on the Hot 100. One Headlight by the Wallflowers was #5 on the year end all genre Billboard Airplay chart for 1997 but never charted on the Hot 100. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.

Rod Stewart was once considered "too hard" for AC radio and didn't score his first top 10 on the format until 1986.

According to Billboard rules, Blink-182 is considered a one-hit wonder. Does the second hit have to make Top 40?

gangnam style was blocked from #1 by maroon 5 still bothers me that this fact is true one I can give is that the most successful K-Pop song that came from a female girl group didn't exist till late 2022

It’s more impressive that he was only 17 for “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You.” More incredible that wasn’t his #1 hit but rather a forgettable duet with Bobby Brown.

Glenn hit #1 in the UK, France, the Netherlands, etc. with “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” so to me, it doesn't seem that surprising that he has a #1 hit in the U.S. The late Tommy Page (R.I.P.) also hit #1 and he seems less memorable, I think.

Someone should make Year-End lists for the 90s that factor in all the radio hits that were never released as physical singles, if it hasn't been done already. Even without sales the two songs you mentioned plus others like Iris and Where Is The Love Torn would rank quite highly for their respective years (though Iris did squeak onto the 1999 Year-End after Billboard changed the rules).

The boyband with the most top 40 hits in the 21st century (Hot 100) is The Jonas Brothers.

Madonna's "This Used To Be My Playground" jumped from 10-1 on Chr/Top 40, and remains the biggest jump to #1.

MJ hit songs that never reached #1 on Hot 100:
“Thriller” (peaked at #4) “Smooth Criminal” (peaked at #7) “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” (peaked at #5) “Human Nature” (peaked at #7)
Also, one of the most well known songs of the 80s “Purple Rain” never reached #1, it peaked at #2.

Michael Jacksons biggest hit is considered Say Say Say with Paul McCartney according to Billboard. Add to that, according to Billboard, "My Heart Will Go On" is not even in Celine Dion's top 5 biggest hits. Her biggest hit according to Billboard is Because You Loved Me.

The White Stripes only ever had one top 40 hit on the Hot 100. And it wasn’t Seven Nation Army.
In The End by Linkin Park only peaked at #2 on the Hot 100. Numb missed the top 10 entirely, and Crawling didn’t even go top 40.
Mr. Brightside by the Killers only peaked at #10 on the Hot 100.
