I’ve seen rumblings that there are more songs to come. I’d suspect it was one person saying that and others jumped on the rumour mill and that helped spread it as an actual rumour. If it were true? Somehow I feel like it would be too much as the hate has been piling on since the release. Well it's coming from multiple sources. A "prediction" account that predicted quite a few other things from this era after the 2nd edition was released said there was still further TPD music to come. Lots and lots of fans have collected several (and too many to be coincidental) clues that *something* is coming May 3rd and that it's something significant. Some people theorize another album, some a book, some a second music video, some a Long Pond session or something like it, and some a surprise performance with Post (which honestly doesn't seem like big enough of an event to have hidden all these strategic clues). The analytical part of me says another release would be a terrible idea right now, but the fan in me feels nothing but pure excitement at the thought of more great material! As far as the hate Taylor is getting, I'm not convinced it isn't just people who already disliked/hated Taylor just being more vocal, but she is highly, highly exposed ATM so who knows. IDC honestly either way. I'm content with the album we have for sure, but I certainly wouldn't complain about more material (especially if it's a deviation from what we have already stylistically, say an album of uptempos). While I am going to give very little thought to this idea, how f***** wild would it be if she dropped another album on Friday. Like, hypothetically, if there WAS another set of music to come out, it would need to be more upbeat. If its more slower songs... IDK. Bad move. With that said, the album is set to move another 450-500k copies this week, pushing past the 3m YTD mark.

Oh yeah, the only way I could see it going well IF it were a another albim would be if it were either full of uptempos OR a more radio-viable album like Midnights/Lover with different production. I think the album is the most far-fetched idea, but is still possible. I'm leaning more toward it being like a new music video or something similar.

This isn't directed at you (I promise I'm not trying to be shady), but y'all gotta stop using Media Traffic (United World Chart) as a source. They've been incredibly inaccurate for years because they include basically no Asian/Latin American sales (coincidentally the fastest growing music markets in the world). Taking just the sales from like 12 countries that have confirmed numbers equals 3,280,000...and that's not even including countries like Canada, Mexico, Philippines, and China (all countries where she is massive and broke records in). Republic has already confirmed TTPD opened to 4 million+ worldwide during it's opening week. everything's fine I check them once in a while, since they have a lot of chart stats from the past, and I know they're inaccurate, but didn't know they were THAT inaccurate, -800k is huge.

But agreed, if there WAS another album, I feel like it would have to be a pop one to appease those who didn’t get into this one - and I could see that being somrthing team TS would have foreseen before.

I've added "The Prophecy," "The Albatross," "The Bolter," and "Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus" to Rose's Version of the album, bringing it now to 21 tracks.
The lyrics crumbling me now are:
If you wanna break my cold, cold heart Just say, "I loved you the way that you were" If you wanna tear my world apart Just say you've always wondered
The bridge to "Peter" is upper tier of her bridges. We love to hear it!
As of now, the two songs I've concluded that I don't like are "I Hate It Here" and "I Look In People's Windows". "I Hate It Here" to me strikes me as a string of thoughts that should have stayed in the journal. It doesn't have a purpose to me. "Windows" just doesn't add anything to me.

It took me as long to finally be able to write a review and then trim it down to something digestible but here it is: http://instagram.com/p/C6aRNSfsCbe when you said "I’ve never been invested in Taylor’s personal life and the who’s who behind her songs. I generally don’t care for celebrity gossip. Despite it being a foundation of her music, what I’ve enjoyed from her has been despite that". I felt that. Nice work. I feel like everyone writes about their personal lives, but Taylor has an obnoxiously spotlight on every move she makes, and every lyric she writes, and it's all about WHO IS THIS ABOUT? while other artists are doing the same without the speculation. I respect her for continuing to do what she does - she's a human being and the rest is... what it is. None of my business, but a great source for some SONGS and LYRICS. And she does so much with it all, regardless of who its about.

And for me - ‘Windows’ is a big Anthology fave for me. It’s folklore meets ‘Safe & Sound’ and it’s everything!

But then she’d be raked over the coals for “bragging” about it if she weren’t humble in her reaction. She’s back at the point where she really is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.

I think yes for Lover - given her reaction to reputation not being nominated for more Grammys. Sales and awards are clearly front of mind and a goal. Her social 'reaction' to her first week numbers/stats is making my eyes roll. As if she didn't know it would be absolutely massive. Girl, just OWN IT. But then she’d be raked over the coals for “bragging” about it if she weren’t humble in her reaction. She’s back at the point where she really is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. Oh I didn’t mean bragging necessarily (it doesn’t have to be one or the other!), I think it’s a tone thing that bothers me and always has to be honest. A great achievement, she just sometimes gives underdog vibes like WOW ME?? REALLY?! and that these things are a complete surprise and it’s all unbelievable when… it isn’t. Yes Taylor, you, consistent commercial powerhouse.

I think it's a true testament to her character as a person that some of the biggest criticism she faces is her being humble about her success.

No idea what she’s like as a person. Don’t know her. Can only comment based on what she chooses to put out into the world, same goes for everyone here. I appreciate the ego boost of being a figurehead of some of her biggest criticism though!

‘The Prophecy’ has me in a chokehold today. The quality of her musical output this go around so far into her career is incomprehensible. "The Prophecy" was in my top five from the jump and still is. I maintain if she had whittled this down to a 12-14 track album it would have been a magnum opus. The material does not justify 30 tracks outside of her fanbase--but her fanbase is strong and big enough for that to not actually be a drag on her career, so if the 30 tracks is her doing art for art's sake, why not I suppose.

I think The Tortured Poets Department was for herself, personally, and if for anyone else, her fanbase second. She knows how to trim an album and certainly knows how to appeal to broader audiences if she wanted to (I think that's more of where she was with Midnights). Given how much she needed to write this album, I think she just wanted to get everything off her chest she's struggled with the last two years and put it behind her. This was such an intimate/personal album, that's why from jump I never took issue with the length of it: it wasn't about being critically praised, gaining new fans, or dominating charts more than it was about her own healing (I'm not saying she didn't care about either, just they weren't the primary focus of the project from jump). I personally only feel there are maybe a select few misses out of the entire 31 song tracklist anyway, so I'm glad she didn't condense it (though thematically she very well could have trimmed a few songs on the second half whose topics were covered on the first).
Eta: I COMPLETELY agree with "The Prophecy" love! It's one of her best songs in my opinion. It and "How Does It End" are so, so, so touching and flawless.
