Why would "Anti-Hero" be excluded? Because her choices of leads have been infamously poor in the past besides it

fwiw i think this'll end up having a solid run (one pretty similar to vampire honestly -- that's a rly good comparison on multiple levels) but i do get the reactions because this absolutely sounds like the sort of underwhelming lead that would underperform (and it likely would if it wasn't from the biggest artist in the world rn)
this is coming from someone who has grown to enjoy this btw

The charts are super strong right now.
But also Taylor's single choices have been fine. Tim McGraw, Love story, Mine, We can never, Shake it off, cardigan, willow , anti hero were all the correct choices.
I think Look was fine. Broken Heart has a bigger potential to smash than fortnight but it would not have the serve the album well to make it the lead single (sound is to way out of whack compared to the rest of the album).
Me! was the only horrible choice.

I kinda want to say this was because of typical top 10 slowdown/the need to wait for stations to catch up and convert to power (only from inside the top 10 'cause at the time it got in there, it was a low bar for entry) but IDK about these last few updates... is it top 10 slowdown compounded by multiple heavily-impacting songs at once?

Thankfully nothing close behind this is rising very fast. Should have no issues going Top 5 at least.

ariana, sza, hozier, and sabrina all had big increases still hmm.
though one could point to the other post Malone collab doing huge numbers in its first week. we'll see if Fortnight stabilizes afterwards I suppose.

Get it together pop! When I first heard this my initial reaction was that we’d be lucky if it hit top 10. But now I’m obsessed with it and need a multi-week #1!

I'd guess a lot of the 2019-2022 singles probably would have. Didn't "Lover" go top 10 on Hot AC? I think either "Cardigan" and/or "Willow" might have almost reached the top there too.

Me! HAC: 5 AC: 6 Pop: 7
You Need to Calm Down HAC: 3 AC: 11 Pop: 9
Lover HAC: 6 AC: 10 Pop: 16
The Man HAC: 9 AC: 21 Pop: 20
cardigan HAC: 8 AC: 12 Pop: 17
willow HAC: 1 AC: 6 Pop: 17
Message in a Bottle HAC: 10 AC: 11 Pop: 17
Lavender Haze HAC: 4 AC: 18 Pop: 5
Fascinating... I had no idea she had so many. Seems like an interesting indicator of whether or not one of her songs is deemed a "hit". Songs people may consider her flops followed this pattern, which suggests that HAC will pretty much play anything she names a single and immediately send to top 10.
Side note: What an interesting string of songs getting stuck at #17 on Pop.

Has she ever had a song peak higher on HAC than Pop? It would be easier to count the number of songs she had that did better on pop than HAC: - Our Song (#18 on CHR, N/A on HAC)
- Love Story (#1 on CHR for 1 week, #3 on HAC)
- Two Is Better Than One (#7 on CHR, #14 on HAC)
- Fifteen (#10 on CHR, #16 on HAC)
- Today Was a Fairytale (#20 on CHR, #21 on HAC)
- The Story of Us (#21 on CHR, #31 on HAC)
- Both of Us (#24 on CHR, N/A on HAC)
- We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (#2 on CHR, #7 on HAC)
- I Knew You Were Trouble (#1 for 7 weeks on CHR, #1 for 1 week on HAC)
- Bad Blood (#1 for 5 weeks on CHR, #1 for 3 weeks on HAC)
- Look What You Made Me Do (#1 on CHR, #7 on HAC)
- End Game (#10 on CHR, #13 on HAC)
In total, out of the 44 songs Taylor Swift singles that have been made available for both pop and HAC radio in the US, only 12 have done better on the former compared to the latter. Most of these occurred in the early years of her career, and after the Reputation era, no Taylor Swift song has outright done better on pop than on HAC (the closest would be Lavender Haze which peaked at number on 5 on CHR and number 4 on HAC but had more longevity on the former).

Does anyone remember how callouts were for cardigan and willow? Sorry for the double post, but Cardigan had pretty bad callouts consistently and thus stalled out quickly. Willow started out quite bad but improved considerably over the weeks, although that still wasn't enough to get it to a good peak or even recurrent status (I think it fell out of the top 40 after 19 weeks?).

This is a very good song, decent album (for her, better than most), but I’ll say it again, this whole rollout was way too soon. I think casual fans are getting “Taylored-out”. It won’t surprise me if all the songs on this album are borderline dead by end of summer. It’s just too much.
As far as Post Malone…he’s also involved with too much this month, however, outside of is charts-dorks, don’t think most realize he is working with both TS and MW on big singles, however, he sounds so different on the songs don’t think it’s a reason why Fortnight’s run could end much sooner than people thought, it’s just not as radio friendly as her past debut singles.
