geez. some people here are simply inside the box. christina aguilera is actually a singer/songwriter. grab her album for confirmation, if u like.
avril is rock and u're stupid if u don't know that.
and i didn't knew we were gonna start comparing kelly with dylan and the such.

I think Avril has a couple songs that qualify as rock and not pop/rock or rock/pop. Maybe "Losing Grip". If anybody who writes songs for a album is a singer/songwriter then Jessica Simpson will be in that League too since she has written some songs.

Actually, pretty much everyone everywhere is a singer songwriter as pretty much every single artist or entertainer I can think of has at least cowritten one song at one time. Britney Spears would have been a songwriter in the Oops era for her input in Dear Diary

Ugh! There is no way ANYWHERE ANYTIME I'm calling Celine Dion a singer/songwriter just because she had a writing hand in a couple of her songs. NEVER! Sorry.

she obviously came from american idol. which is even more surprising that she is getting play on alternative stations. why does american idol have to produce pop stars? aren't there enough of those already?

I think the song does sounds a little bit like The Killers musically, but otherwise why it would be on an alternative station who knows? haha

i think its a great sounding song. she's no avril lavigne. but hey, if shania can move towards pop, why cant kelly move towards alternative. the song has a great beat, its very uptempo, and i don't know anyone that doesn't like it.
but yeah, as for being played on an alternative station, it is kinda weird.

I can see this getting played, because i see this more rock than BREATHE (BY Mellisa Etheridge) which was played. Breathe sounded more light than Sinse You've Been Gone, so yeah... Actually, the only place i cannot see this being played on is COUNTRY. CHR, HAC+AC (because of previous hit) and even here.. i think this song could have the potential to explode

"Breathe" didn't even approach the Alternative chart. It might have grazed the top 100 or something.

Would Madonna be considered a singer-songwriter?
