I'm hoping Immi does a hott performance, her one-woman set-up is freaking unbelieveable how she does everything at one time.
I can't see it happening. I think a lot of the people that watch the Grammys would think it too "out there" and "weird" to watch.
ummm...i like imogen heap ....compared to the fray?! i don't think so! the fray may have been faceless...but imogen and corrine were even MORE faceless then the fray..... like yea people know "Put your records on" but it sounds like everyother artist! imogen heap has had forgetable songs goodnight and go, and hide and seek HOW TO SAVE A LIFE IS A BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED PIECE OF MUSIC... the lyrics are beautiful and the singing is equally up to par...the fray should have DEFINAITLY grabbed a nom.
Maybe they should have but at the expense of Imogen, I don't think so. The Fray's music, while good, is really nothing original or special. And I wouldn't call Imogen faceless. She's just not as known but people that know her music, know who she is. And if know her songs, they DO stand out. 'Hide And Seek' is probably one of the most original and fascinating pieces of music of the 2000s so far. Corrine I will agree that the one song I've heard from her was nothing special. But seriously, I think Imogen is really deserving of her nomination, even moreso than KT would have been and I LOVE KT. I'm afraid no one can argue Imogen's position in that category. Sorry...
..i would bet that the academy was turned off by nelly's cross-over..... i mean i like it...and it needed to be done...but its again, everyother pop song!
LOL. I don't mean to attack you or anything but I like how you say Imogen makes forgettable music and then you call Nelly's songs just another pop song, but then you pretty much praise The Fray as if they're the most original sought-after band of the decade. Don't get me wrong, I DO like them and I think they should have been in the list but really, how are they different from Lifehouse or Vertical Horizon in most aspects?

I had no idea there were so many Imogen supporters here... I really wish more people knew about her. With this nomination people may at least get to know her name better.

I just watched a butt load of Emogean Heeps vids on UTube... she sucks.. the acadamy totally lost cred with her. Oh she's floating with a piano and singing out of tune, big deal. The acadamy needs to wake up- and stop nominating talentless nobody's like Eamogean Heeaps.
So what is "talent" to you? Imogen pretty much does 100% of her own work when it comes to writing, instrumentation and production work. Her live shows are far from conventional in the idea that she brings two imacs and a keyboard with her to do her performing. I don't think she's one to passoff as talentless in just one observation. I really think in order to appreciate her, you have to understand and be able to think outside the box and appreciate music. She's different, has her own style and she's proud of it. You don't have to like her but I do believe that she does deserve some recognition for her talents.

Maybe sounding like a robot and looking like a tranny is something you need to get use to. It's just not my cup of tea.... IMO there were atleast 2 more deserving artist out there, that have the respect of the industry and the respect of the public, but yeah, electronic pop, great, a girl with a name no one can pronounce and no one has heard of, yeah, sure, BNA, yeah great. It just doesn't add up.

I know I'm really late but...yay! Grammy nominations, lol!
I'm surprised KT Tunstall or The Fray didn't get in Best New Artist. Also, Corrine Bailey Rae's only nominations were in general categories? That's pretty funny to me, I thought she would've gotten around the same number but in different categories.
I hope Dixie Chicks win every award they're up for! Except ROTy, I want James Blunt or Mary J. Blige to win that one. :) I hope Carrie Underwood wins at leasst one, I hope James Blunt wins something, I'd actually like to see Natasha Bedingfield or KT Tunstall get Female Pop Vocal. Mary J. & U2's "The One" should win Pop Collaboration...even though I love "Promiscuous". :)

I had no clue who Imogen Heap was prior to her nomination so I went and looked her up and I have to say very impressive. I like her sound even if she's not the most dynamic vocalist I've ever heard, she's def unique and that counts for a lot IMO. She seems like she might be a lock for BNA and here I was thinking Chris Brown or Corraine had it in the bag. I guess people shouldn't put their favorites in their avi cuz it seems whenever someone wants to negate the opinion of another poster they pull the "well your favorite sucks more" card out. It's really very lame.

yep! at least as far as i know there's no artist made up of Christmas lights so nobody can diss them...
as for the actual nominations, most of them suck. KT Tunstall was screwed, and how in the hell did will.i.am get nominated for producer of the year instead of Timbaland?!

I dont understand how come "Promiscuous" was nominated for the pop collaboration category instead of the rap/sung category. But "My love" was nominated in the rap/sung category. i dont understand the difference for these 2 songs?

It's a fine line.^
And largely subjective.
Maybe because My Love features (arguably) more rapping?

I think Timbaland does more on Promiscuous than TI does on My Love, but for a lot of it he doesn't really rap. he even sings the chorus.
it's basically where the label wants to submit and where they think they have a better chance at a win.

It was just confusing because Nelly and Timbaland are both rapping and singing so its definately a rap/sung collaboration.
Inoticed with the pop collaboration nominees everyone gets equal credit and on the ra/sung nominees there is a "featured" artist.

I love B2B. i think it should have gotten more recognition. but i don't think it's exactly a pattern of Christina getting screwed. she's been nominated almost every year and won 3 since her debut. there were just a lot of things out and it fell thru the cracks.

I'm geeked at Kelis' nomination, Corinne's nominations and Nelly's nomination (although I think she deserved a lot more than what she got). Must say I'm extremely disappointed that Timbaland was snubbed for Producer of the Year!!

The Dixie Chicks are in an excellent position to take home both the Record of the Year AND the Song of the Year. Had K.T Tunstall gotten more nominations across these categories, or Bob Dylan sneaking a nomination for his critically-acclaimed "Modern Times", I'd say the Dixie Chicks would actually have a big fight for those Grammys. But the competition here for them, to me at least, just looks pretty weak. John Mayer is probably their closest rival for Album of the Year with "Continuum", but I think the Dixie Chicks speak louder as a story of this year overall, and where Mayer previously triumphed with "Daughters", I think he'll be overshadowed this time around. It's also true Gnarls Barkley are capable of pulling it off given that they too are a critically-acclaimed, commerically-successful duo, but ever since "Crazy" topped the charts, they haven't had much else following them up and it can be argued if they have any bit of the fanbase intensity the Dixie Chicks have, or if they appeal to the baby-boomer influences that make up much of the Grammy panel. The final two I see not matching their intensity at all. "Stadium Arcadium" is a good album, but many fans also admit it's not among their best, and "By The Way" was a superior album. And "FutureSex/LoveSounds", though receiving good reviews, may struggle to win over the panelists since the biggest thing going for Timberlake so far this era is the one-liner "Bringing sexy back!". Now, when we come to Song of the Year, this category will be a lot more interesting to see how it turns out, because Corinne Bailey Rae is there, as well as this year's nominations gorilla, Mary J. Blige. My prediction is that Mary J. Blige will actually be largely shut out despite her nominations and acclaim, and thus I think this one will be a heavy match-up between "Not Ready To Make Nice" and "Put Your Records On". Finally, there's Record of the Year, and I think this is actually the one category of the Big Three where the Dixie Chicks are behind in my mind, and "Crazy" is the force to reckon with right now. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

so mariah got 2 more nominations this year. making the total for TEOM 10 grammy nominations. that's a pretty nominated album!
i find it funny that mariah and christina received the same # of nominations. and mariah's on her second round.
