Excellent work all!Β Even #21 was finally guessed correct.Β Goodbye To You is one of those songs that brings me back to a turning point in my life.Β I still get just a bit emotional when I hear that song.
Alright you all.Β Let's work our way up to the top 10 for 2002!
15) This artist became notorious in 2001/2002 for releasing songs with multiple versions that all got counted in one big song total.Β This was one of those songs, a song that went to #1 on pop in the spring.Β I charted the original version. Jennifer Lopez - Ain't It Funny
14) Leaping tall buildings through the city you would probably hear this song. Chad Kroeger f/ Josey Scott - Hero
13) This song originally hit #1 on rock radio in the summer 0f 2001, but took until the very last weeks of 2001 to make it to the top of the pop chart. Nickelback - How You Remind Me
12) If this was 2000, this song would have gone top 10 for sure.Β It was a comeback single for this UK band that struck it big with their debut single in 2000. BBMak - Out Of My Heart (Into Your Head)
11) The second hit for this singer/songwriter on the chart.Β The video for this song has still frames where the singer is talking to "frozen" people. Michelle Branch - All You Wanted

All the guesses were right except for #14. Superman (It's Not Easy) peaked on my chart at #25 in 2001, so it would not be this high in 2002.
Perhaps I should have said "swinging" rather than "leaping"...

Let's get into the top 10!!!
10) This singer was off the train (CHR/POP chart) for a long while, but she returned with this dance smash that went to #1 on my chart. Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head
9) I actually charted this song starting in late 2001, but the song hit #1 on pop radio in the spring of 2002.Β It was a song that went to #1, yet many stations had not even added the song. Linkin Park - In The End
8) What's this song got to do, got to do, with an 80s hit?Β Well, it samples it! :) Fat Joe f/ Ashanti & Ja Rule - What's Luv?
7) This song presented a slight issue on the chart - its run at #1 was interrupted by one week by a UK band, but then returned. Nelly f/ Kelly Rowland - Dilemma
6) There was nothing unclear about this song's rise to the top of the chart.Β It was the first hit by this alternative band to hit the pop chart and also hit my chart. Puddle Of Mudd - Blurry

Those two guesses are absolutely correct. I'll wait a little longer for people to guess the other ones.

Great work on those two songs! :) Now there is one more left.
In the clue I was trying to use sort of a hint to the title of the song, but I guess I created an even bigger problem.

Was it on your personal chart that the run at #1 was interrupted? Because I don't remember any such song on the R&R chart.

Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland - DilemmaΒ Correcto! And now, the top 5!Β I'll do the clues one at a time now... 5) This solo male artist rose above all the lies surrounding him as a AAA only artist - he scored a top 10 with this song on pop radio. John Mayer - No Such Thing

Nice work! :)

4) A Thousand Miles/Vanessa Carlton Yep yep! 3) This song was actually a top 10 hit on Hot AC before it even made the top 30 on pop radio.Β The song scored #1 on both charts. Avril Lavigne - Complicated

"Complicated" by Avril Lavigne. Yes yes yes!!! 2) The runner up for 2002 is a song that only spent 1 week @ #1 on my chart, but over 33 weeks in the top 30.Β It was by a new band at the time with a lead singer that later went on to sing lead on a top 10 hit in 2003. The Calling - Wherever You Will Go

"Wherever You Will Go" by The Calling? Absolutely correct! And now, the moment of truth - the #1 song for 2002!But before we get to that, let's recap the previous #1s from years past. 2001: In 2001, the number one song went to a band who had two previous pop hits in 1999-2000, including a top 10. This first single from their new album had some great references to "fried chicken" and "mocha lattes". It is of course Train - Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)2000: In 2000, there was one song that by the summer of 2000 was WAY ahead of any other song that it had a lock at #1. It was a song by a now AC-only artist from her greatest hits CD. The song did manage to make it to the top 3 on pop in the spring of 2000. Of course, I am talking about Celine Dion - That's The Way It Is/ 1999: My chart began in July 1999, so this #1 was just for those 5 months. The song at #1 was by an artist whose debut single spent 20 weeks in the top 10 on the CHR/POP chart, including 5 weeks @ #1. If I had a chart in the beginning of 1999, this song certainly would have been #1 for many weeks and possibly the #1 song of 1999. But never fear - this artist was able to score a #1 hit for 3 weeks in July 1999 (the first three weeks of my chart) and the song never left the top 10 until late November 1999. The song was Britney Spears - Sometimes. Now we are up to 2002's #1 song. And since ulij20 claims to know what it is already, I'll just let him (or anyone else) guess without even a clue! ;)

1) A New Day Has Come/Celine Dion
All of the songs in the upper quadrant of the R&R CHR/Pop Top 100 of 2002 were already accounted for, so, since Celine's other hit "I'm Alive" was ranked so high on the chart, I figured that "A New Day Has Come" would be #1, since it hadn't materialized earlier. But then again, I could be wrong.Β If so, how about the clue?
BTW, no I did NOT peek at chebingeo's Top 150 of 2002 before posting the above guess.Β

That is absolutely correct! Thanks to all who participated and in about two months, look for my Top 100 of 2004. It will be tougher for some of you since it will include a lot of Christian rock songs, but it will be fun!
