Right.
I'll extend non-lyrical clues for #49 and #43:
49. Featured two guest members, which is also the amount of people in the band. These two both are ex-members of bands. 43. They have 3 letters in their name. 41. Two members of this band are married to each other.
Clues for #'s 40-31:
40. "trying to strangle us all down here" 39. "there is no one on earth I'm afraid of" 38. "funny how I blind myself" 37. "and dreaming I'm alive" 36. "tryin' to stretch out the coca" 35. "classics rerunning that you know all right" 34. "let's see your seatbelt fastened"
33. "I'll try to kiss you if you let me" 32. "I think I'm drowning" 31. "the thing I'm made of"

49. The Crystal Method f/ John Garcia & Wes Borland "Born Too Slow" 43. Lit "Looks Like They Were Right" (peaked at #32. I had no idea they were dropped, but it's not surprising.) 41. Sonic Youth "Unmade Bed" (if that's the wrong song, I have another guess all lined up and ready to go.)
I don't recognize any of those new lyrics yet.

All of Nicholas2.0's guesses were correct. As were crash46's and Mega248's.

Extended clues, although I don't see how all of these are still not guessed (almost): 40. The song was released in 2003. It's the final track the band released. The lead singer's new band has two Top 5 hits on my personal chart. 38. The first verse says "find" instead of the rhyming word. New wave cover hit that's true to the original. 37. Band was correctly guessed in the same set of questions. 36. Previously guessed incorrectly. If you remove two words on that clue and replace it with one, you'll get a line from this song. 35. First single from the band in about five years. 34. Has a correctly guessed song far below. 31. See above.

Yes.
34 & 31 not only aren't guessed, neither of these are remotely rock songs.
For the newer clues:
30. "you get away from me" 29. "don't want to meet your daddy" 28. "like opening the wound" 27. "dirty now where come the paranoia"
26. "I'm just a cross hair" 25. "we named him Baby" 24. "I'm feeling lonely, I can't breathe" 23. "but now it's disappeared" 22. "recall the moments that once have" 21. "I'd hold open your eyes"
EDIT: None of these are VAST songs, either.

That one is too.
None of the remaining songs were actually even obscure. Except for maybe #27, although that didn't become a single for a long time. Artist has been represented 3 times previously, and with one other ready to be later (note that this charted for several weeks as an album cut).
I'll extend the clues whenever I feel like it.

Extended lyrical clues:
31. You people still don't know this one? Artist was guessed correctly much earlier, not remotely rock, and with that lyrical clue. May I add that it's a Neptunes track? 28. "like opening the wound, I'm picking me apart again" 27. You may not have heard this song, but you've definitely heard the artist 24. Singer's other band was just mentioned earlier. 23. "love was once a part, but now it's disappeared" 21. "I'd hold open your eyes, so you would see"
With that extended clue, I hope #23 seems even more familiar.

All of those are right.
Only #27 is left from those.
I added another one to this, kind of like the others, as I actually did bump a few songs up for the purpose of this "guessing game":
20. "where do we go from here" 19 ½. "pack up, I'm straight" 19. "don't blink you might miss"[/s] 18. "it may seem like a stretch" 17. "it has enough light"
16. "but I have to doubt it" 15. "my touch does not affect you"
14. "another lie you made to make us hate" 13. "ignore the smoke" 12. "I'm not with you" 11. "you sound so angry"

It seems like I should know a handful of these but the only one that's coming to me right away is 13 which is "Blue" by A Perfect Circle.

Those four are all correct. I was wondering when someone would get "Megalomaniac".
Two of the remaining tracks were #1's from me. Three songs did not make the top 10. Two of those are from the same artist.

14. Lostprophets "Make a Move"
Steve snatched "Last Train Home" from me before I recognized it, so I guess we're even now.
