Hello all!
Well, after lots of catching up and point tallying over my Christmas break, I am ready to reveal to you my top 100 songs of 2005! The year 2005 was, for me, one with lots of changes and accomplishments. And, to a degree, this is reflected in my personal chart. My interests in Christian music did begin to dwindle in the second half of the year since Atlanta does not have a local Christian CHR or Christian Rock station, but I hope to redeem some of that loss in 2006 with more internet streaming of those radio stations.
Before we get into the top 100, let's reveal the "close calls":
105. U2 - Vertigo 104. Hoobastank - Disappear 103. Bethany Dillon - All That I Can Do 102. Eminem - Just Lose It 101. LeAnn Rimes - Probably Wouldn't Be This Way
Since some of the songs on the countdown are Christian radio exclusives, I will place CS in front of the clue to help you. But, be cautious! If the song at the least went for adds on mainstream radio, then there won't be a CS in the first clue. Each right answer is 1 point for the first person to post it. Best of luck!
100. Kicking off the countdown for the top 100 of 2005 is an artist with a song that was a sleeper hit on pop radio this year with a followup that actually went for adds nearly 2 years ago. Howie Day - Collide (sbp17)
99. A club-type track for this familiar hip hop star that couldn't muster even a top 20 showing on pop radio, a rarity for him. 50 Cent f/ Mobb Deep - Outta Control (remix) (Krypton46)
98. These two young RHY stars decided to play a kiddie song game in the bridge of their hit. Bow Wow f/ Omarion - Let Me Hold You (Krytpton46)
97. Arguably the modern "King of Crunk", this artist along with another way overplayed artist from 2004 had this slow jam from early 2005. Lil' Jon & The Eastside Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris - Lovers & Friends (Mega248)
96. First of two hits on the countdown from this new pop group. It's a song that is a contender for the #1 spot on one of the mainstream charts. Pussycat Dolls - Stickwitu (Mega248)
95. When this single was announced as going for adds on pop radio over another one, many people on this board were disgusted and correctly predicted its demise. Ryan Cabrera - 40 Kinds of Sadness (Matt4319)
94. This artist will probably never survive pop radio's current anti-HAC regime, but this song is a big HAC hit. Alanis Morissette - Crazy (Mega248)
93. CS: For the second single from this band's sophomore album, the record label did a double release: one to Rock, and one to CHR. This was that band's Rock single. The title is something that Michael Jackson would claim you're not. Sanctus Real - Alone (Matt4319)
92. Think about Everclear and you'll get this urban hit. Ja Rule f/ R. Kelly & Ashanti - Wonderful (Mega248)
91. After a more upbeat debut single, this popstar decided to release this much slower jam, and although it was still a big pop and AC hit, it barely cracked the top 20 on my chart. Ryan Cabrera - True (Krypton46)
Good luck! :)

All of those are right except for #100. That song will be on the countdown later. For #100, the song in general went for adds a couple of times, once in 2004 and once in 2005.

100. Howie Day - Collide? That's the correct answer! :) Here are some more clues to help with the remaining songs. 98) The name of where I currently live appears in the bridge of the song as well. 95) Here's a math clue to help you! Number of members in BSB*Number of weeks "Toxic" spent @ #1 on the R&R pop chart + the record amount of weeks for a song @ #1 on the R&R charts - how many wishes Aladdin gets from the genie 93) The Michael Jackson reference was to his last top 10 hit on the pop chart.

90) A minor HAC hit for this 80s/early 90s duo band. The title of the song sounds like a James Bond movie title. Duran Duran - What Happens Tomorrow (Slinky)
89) CS: This song was an album track from an artist whose last name is the same as a unit of energy. The point of the song is that being a king of material things here on Earth cannot compare to having the divine love of God. Adam Watts - Meaningless Things (Krypton46)
88) The latest song for this artist who was trying to make a comeback after a disasterous 3rd single. This is the lead single off the new album. Ryan Cabrera - Shine On (Matt4319)
87) A leftover from 2004 by a trio who recently decided to become independent women. Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath (Krypton46)
86) Yet another album track, but this time from a so-called loser who is actually bigger than the "winner." The title of the track is the same as a song found on the soundtrack to the movie Legally Blonde. Clay Aiken - Perfect Day (Matt4319 & Mega247)
85) First of two hits by this "punk" band. In the song, the band asks a common question that one would ask when one reaches a point of no return and looks back on their life. Simple Plan - Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?) (Krypton46)
84) CS: In this song, the artist uses a reference to the famous David and Goliath battle as a metaphor that one should always listen to God for guidance, not to others' negative influences. Casting Crowns - Voice of Truth (Clem)
83) Think about two European capitals and you'll get this lonely hit from this artist. Michael Buble - Home (sbp17)
82) In the video for this song, the artist is alone on a snow covered cliff and appears to commit suicide over a love for a girl. James Blunt - You're Beautiful (Matt4319)
81) CS: If this song was played in France, it may have been called Pour Le Premier Fois. Mark Harris - For The First Time (Matt4319)

Crap, "Cater 2 U" was from 2005. (I'm not editing my post since I think I'll get credit for "Perfect Day".)

Somehow I didn't see that matt had already gotten #81.
We both posted #86 at the same minute though, so we should both get credit.

Let's see if we can get the other remaining songs with additional clues.
90) This was the second single from this band's latest album to hit the HAC chart.
89) The last name is the same as the units used for your light bulbs. The song is track 3 off of the album.
84) Admst all the influences in the world, I will always choose to listen to the ________ __ _____.

The last three posts got the right answers! Nice work folks! Let's move on up as we get closer and closer to the #1 song of 2005.
80) CS: Another song that was on the 2004 countdown as well as this year's. The song is by a new band that didn't want to fade away into Christian-only radio, so they released a single to mainstream Active Rock as well. This was their debut hit. Day Of Fire - Cornerstone (Matt4319)
79) This collaboration would not happen today as these two artists are now apparent violent rivals. This was the first of two big hits this year. The Game f/ 50 Cent - How We Do (Krypton46)
78) This duet recounts the two singers/lovers' experiences together and how they long for it to happen again. Usher f/ Alicia Keys - My Boo (Krypton46)
77) This title may make you think you are sitting in homeroom of your high school again. Killers - Mr. Brightside (Clem)
76) As the title suggests, this song was practically all you heard on pop radio in November and December 2004, but faded quickly into "Those big hits that aren't strong recurrents" land once it fell off the pop chart. Nelly f/ Tim McGraw - Over & Over (Mega248)
75) Pages upon pages of a thread on this board are dedicated to arguments as to whether this song really was a promotional single for the artist's new album or for the movie it is from. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway (Krypton48)
74) CS: First of three hits for this Christian CHR/Rock superstar. The artist claims that the song was inspired after he watched The Passion of the Christ. Tobymac - The Slam (Clem)
73) CS: Although this song was supposed to be the band's second single off of their then recent album to Christian Rock, it never caught on. It's by a band that Christian radio has been so good to by allowing them to come on back after a minor hiatus between albums. Third Day - 'Til The Day I Die (Matt4319)
72) CS: This Christian band favorite released this song, the first single off of their brand new album which is inspired totally by old English hymns. Think of the recent devestation in California and you'll get an idea for a former big hit from this band. Jars of Clay - God Will Lift Up Your Head (Clem)
71) Many are convinced that had this artist not been a collaborator on a previous huge pop hit, then this song never would have made the top 40 on pop radio. However, you can't make that argument for its huge success on AC radio. Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying (Mega248)
Best of luck!!!

80. The Afters - "Beautiful Love" (although I feel like you're hinting at Day of Fire's "Fade Aaway...) 74. Jeremy Camp - "This Man" (?) 73. Stryper - "Make You Mine" (?) 72. Jars of Clay - "God Will Lift Up Your Head"

I don't want to steal Krypton's thunder, but I'll guess "Fade Away" by Day of Fire for #80 (if you can't guess more than one song at a time ;)).
73. Pillar - Hypnotized (?)
