Rob Thomas - Lonely No More? Good guess, but that's not the right. 4b) This artist also has something in common with Relient K, Switchfoot, and P.O.D.

4. Lifehouse - "You And Me" Nice work Clem!!!! :) :) I thought you would get that one after guessing it earlier. Time for the top 3!!! It's getting neck and neck, so let's see who's going to take the game! 3a) Remember on the old R&R boards we played games with the Babelfish translator? Well, here's how a few lines of the song looks after being put through that thing a few times. "with my heart on it maintained to repair always open for me, how you make your small friends"

3) Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone ? No sorry that's not the right answer. 3b) When you listen to the chorus of the song, you may say to yourself "Well, if you decide to sing a solo hit, then that's how you will feel!"

3) Gwen Stefani - 'What You Waiting For?' No. That song didn't make the top 100 of the year. 3c) In the video for the song, the walls and floors are flipping all over the place.

OK folks we're up to the top 2 of the year!!! Has anyone figured out which songs I have left? Before we reveal this year's runner-up, let's look back at previous years' runner-ups: 2000: Britney Spears - Oops! I Did It Again! 2001: Lifehouse - Hanging By A Moment 2002: The Calling - Wherever You Will Go 2003: 50 Cent - In Da Club 2004: Maroon 5 - This Love OK, so let's see who gets the runner-up spot this year. 2a) This song, which was a big hit on more than one R&R format and went to #1 on my chart, was even seen to be played on some rock stations when it was first released.

2. Kelly Clarkson- "Since U Been Gone" Correcto! :) So, we're up to it now... the creme de la creme, the top of the top, the best of the best... yes, that's right! My #1 song of 2005!!! Here's the first clue: 1a) Guess this song.

Sorry about the delay. Yes yes, Mega is right! Gavin DeGraw not only claimed the #1 song for 2005 on my chart but also set some other records this year: (1) Most weeks at #1 - 11 weeks for Gavin DeGraw (spanned between 2004 and 2005). The old record was a tie between Britney Spears' "Toxic" and Celine Dion's "That's The Way It Is", both of which spent 10 weeks @ #1. If we want to be technical though, one of the weeks for Gavin came during my annual "frozen" chart week after Christmas, so one could argue that he only spent 10 weeks @ #1 for "active" chart weeks, but I don't make thaat distinction, and what I say matters! ;) (2) Most weeks on the chart: I Don't Want To Be spent a whopping 56 weeks on the chart, beating the old record set just last year by Switchfoot's Dare You To Move which spent 50 weeks on the chart. In third place is Santana f/ Rob Thomas - Smooth with 38 weeks on the chart, but that was when the chart was only 20 positions! When I first heard I Don't Want To Be, I honestly didn't think it was going to be the smash it turned out to be. I started charting it a little after it hit the HAC chart, and it only rose to the low 20s on the chart at the end of the summer of 2004 and then was beginning to fall. However, then I heard the new radio edit/remix of the song and I was blown away, especially by the bridge. So, then the song just shot up my chart and prematurely cut off Breakaway's reign at the top of the chart (Kelly was looking to have a stronghold on #1 for a long time) and stayed there for a long time, holding back Lose My Breath and Broken from the top spot. Then, when the song finally fell out of #1 in late January 2005, it remained in the top 5 of my chart until 4/29/05, when it fell out and from there dropped down the chart fairly qucikly before getting hung up at the bottom of the chart for a few weeks. At one time, Gavin had two songs in the top 5 of my chart (IDWTB and Chariot). I wonder if 2006 will have a song like this, or if my chart will be more progressive. Right now, the latter is favored, as I am having a major turnover in songs right now on my chart. But we'll see if that lasts. Thanks to all that played my guessing game! I'll have updated scores later! :)
