What songs would you like to see remade?? Well, some remakes are not that good and you feel pretty bad for the original artist, but exclude all that and choose songs and the artist who you think should remake it. I want to see someone remake John Waite's "Missing You" it's such a classic song, so there aren't a lot of artists out there who could remake it. I'd say John Rzeznik or Rob Thomas would be 2 worthy candidates for remaking the song. Of course no one can make a better remake than the original artist!

I disagree, I think people can make a song better than the original artist. People tend to like the first rendition the best because it is the original and any other one is the same tune, melody, lyrics and everything, but it's not the orginal artist. If the person who remade the song had the orginal, people would like that one best.

Very generally speaking, I'd want some of my favorite album tracks to be remade. Songs that really should have been released by the original arist but never were... a remake would allow them to be hits afterall, without ruining the original song due to overexposure too, since it would sound kinda different.

Brooks & Dunn remade "Missing You", back in 1999, and it was the first single from their Tight Rope CD, peaking at #15 on the country chart.

i'd rather see no remakes... it just gives the impression the artists cannot come up with anything original... look at QED or Mad'House... both covered songs, but i dount i'll hear from either of them ever again.

Wasn't 'Missing You' a Tina Turner hit? I'm sure there are more covers of it.
As for remakes, they are fun! For the purposes of tribute albums and familiarity in concerts and soundtracks and such, I don't think they should be done for the purpose of adding a track to one's album unless it's a cover album. Mariah and Celine both have at least one remake per album.

I would Really like it if Christina and Britney remade "Like A Virgin" together, if what happened at the VMA's is any sign, it will be a huge hit.

I joked yesterday on my college radio show, after playing The Ataris' "Boys Of Summer", that I'd like to hear somebody like System Of A Down cover "Desperado"... ... I'm also waiting for somebody like Good Charlotte to cover "Cats In The Cradle"...Hehe...

if memory serves, the song was an original by John Waite... i don't think it's the same as the Brooks and Dunn version though

I like SOAD but I don't want "Desperado" to be touched. Ugly Kid Joe remade it back in '92 or '93. I think I would like the UKJ version than Good Charlotte.

I'd rather hear no remakes. Very rarely do you get a worthwhile remake, especially nowadays. Back in the '60's, there were some good remakes, either because of the advancement of production, sound, instrumentation, or because the song was done in a totally different way. Examples of the former include Jay & the Americans' cover of the Drifter's "This Magic Moment" and Andy Kim's remake of the Ronnettes' "Baby I Love You". Examples of the latter include Vanilla Fudge's remake of the Supreme's "You Keep Me Hanging On", Smith's remake of the Shirelles "Baby, It's You", the various versions of "I Heard It through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight & the Pips, & Creedence Clearwater Revival, who by the way greatly improved "Suzie Q"), Diana Ross's remake of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell, Isaac Hayes' cover of Dionne Warwick's "Walk on By", and the immensely improved version of Otis Redding's "Respect" by Aretha Franklin.
I didn't care much for John Waite's "Missing You", but that was partly due to his voice, which irritated me, so probably a cover could improve on it. I hated Ugly Kid Joe's version of Harry Chapin's classic "Cats in the Cradle", and I can't imagine Good Charlotte being any better. Another great song totally ruined by the remaker imo was Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love" by UB 40, which spoiled a lot of songs with their covers. Did they ever do anything original?

I personally want to remake Aqua's "Barbie Girl" and Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus," and I know there were a few others, but I can't remember them right now.

It would be best if the originals remain as it is and I agree. However if the song is remade in the same style and the same key in spite of the ever-changingness of today's sound, it would be almost authentic. To ruin an original, it would sound out of place. As far as the song Missing You it was in a soundtrack of "What's Love Got To Do With It" in which Tina herself performed it in the movie or was played as an album cut at some selected stations. Personally, I would love to hear Toni Braxton or Monica do some covers of Anita Baker, like Monica would do Sweet Love or Toni would do Giving You The Best That I Got. I know that it's wishful thinking. In due time they may consider it.

I wish a girl group would remake "Do Me Baby" by Prince. Meli'sa Morgan's cover was great.

Punk Rock Band MXPX covered Aqua's "Barbie Girl" don't know how long ago it was.
Personally,I don't mind seeing songs being remade it gives new life to the song.

Yikes! I like SOAD but I don't want "Desperado" to be touched I wouldn't recommend System of A Down to remake that classic. It would be tragic. Another artist who was saturated with remakes and barely couldn't make one original since You're No Good was Linda Ronstadt. She did the cover of the Eagles classic around late 70s or early 80s and tragically ruined it. >:( Another artist come to mind, the late Paul Young who himself coldn't sing anything original but coversa lot of tunes, but did an awsome job covering the Chi-Lites' Oh Girl.
