Anyone a fan of her's? I just downloaded her second album, Screaming For My Supper, and I really like it. The only song I'd heard prior to downloading it was "L.A. Song," which most of you probably have heard... Man I gotta get out of this town Man I gotta get out of this place Man I gotta get out of this town Out of this town and Back to L.A. She has such a great voice. Anyway, I just found out she has a new album out called Leave The Light On. If you go to www.bethhart.com you can listen to some of the songs. The song Leave The Light On is AMAZING. You all must listen to it if you like LA Song or anything else you may have heard.

No worries! Me and RobM88 already started talking about this song over in Hot AC/Triple A! I plan on getting her new CD soon but I think HMV has it over $20 so I might wait a bit. I LOVE this song and I'm already placing it on the list of possibilities for the top song of 2004! It IS AMAZING!!! I would say it's the best song I've heard in years!

I should have known you'd like it, Mike! You are amongst the few people on this board who share my taste in music :)
But yay! Glad to see I'm not the only one who is absolutely in LOVE with this song.

I like "Leave The Light On". The first several times I heard it, I LOVED it and I thought it would be a Top 10 hit on my personal chart. It peaked at #17 last week. Decent enough.

I think I started a topic about this song ("LA Song") on the old boards, but it is a great song!

I loved "L.A. Song" as well but it is the only Beth Hart song that I am familiar with

I heard "Leave The Light On". It doesn't excite me like "The L.A. Song" did.

L.A. Song never excited me. I don't know why. It peaked at #96 or something on my chart but I never really heard it back when it was a current. I listened to it a few times since 'Leave The Light On' came out and now I regret missing it! I might go buy her CD library!

Good ol' Beth! Is she still on Atlantic? I remember her awful song on an Atlantic Records sampler, "Change The Subject." But now that I think about it, it wasn't a bad song at all. I liked her Six Flags commercial as well, but whenever I saw/heard it, it upset me, since Angela Via's ad could have been played instead of her's.

For some reason she reminds me of Liz Phair, does anyone else make that connection?

For some reason she reminds me of Liz Phair, does anyone else make that connection? Kinda because both are kinda unknown female artists but still have a buzz or whatever.
I plan on getting this CD as soon as I see it in a store (I went to a few today and it wasn't there) however her old CD with 'LA Song' was in a few used CD stores for $10 so that's in my plan books as well.

Hmmm...Liz Phair? No, I don't see that. Liz Phair doesn't really have a good voice. She can't sing as much as she can kind of talk. Her latest album shows that she can sing good enough to carry a song, but she still doesn't have the range.
Beth, however, has an amazing voice that can REALLY carry her far. I'd say she's a cross between Sophie B Hawkins and Macy Gray. But her voice really is totally unique and her style is her's and her's only. There's no one else like her.

And I believe both of them uses a surprising amount of cuss words.

OK, scartch the Macy reference...
Beth is like a modern Janis Joplin!! The voice and even the looks are dead on.
