Song: "Irreplaceable" Artist: Beyonce Album: B-Day Grade: B+ Review: I must admit...this song is pretty catchy. Beyonce's voice annoys the hell out of me, yet, it is still good. She oversings too much...but doesn't on this song...well, she does a little bit, but still. The chorus is catchy as hell, as is the "To the left, to the left..." part...the instrumentation of it is also pretty good. It is nothing extremely spectacular, but nothing Beyonce has put out has really stood out to me. Still, it's worth the listen, and not a bad song at all. If she would make more songs like these, she would be OK in my book.
Song: "Say It Right" Artist: Nelly Furtado Album: Loose Grade: C- Review: I don't hate Nelly. I have tried to like the singles she has put out from Loose, but I can't no matter how hard I try. This song is not only poorly produced, but Nelly's vocals on this are obnoxious, and the lyrics are so cheesy. It sounds like it should have been released in the 80's or something. This song is even worse than "Promiscuous"....and that's really, really bad. I just don't see the point to the song. It could have been good with better production and better lyrics, but it falls short of being anything I would like.
Song: "Fergalicious" (ft. will.i.am) Artist: Fergie Album: The Dutchess Grade: A- Review: I'll admit; "London Bridge" was a big guilty pleasure. This song is also one...but it is so fun! When you add pure, fun music with Fergie's above-average voice and a hot beat, you get a song like this. The reason it isn't graded higher is partially because of will.i.am. The parts where he spells "tastey" (incorrectly) are annoying. However, I'm glad this is a big hit because this is the reason hip-hop music should be...fun and hot. Kudos to Fergie for making this song good!
Song: "How To Touch A Girl" Artist: Jojo Album: The High Road Grade: A Review: I knew this wouldn't be big on pop radio, but it really is a great song. The instruments are sultry and soulful, as is Jojo's voice in this song. The lyrics also deliver a great message of real love and having a good, real relationship with someone. Some parts of the song are a bit boring, but all in all, this song lives up to what it attempts to be: a great soulful ballad.
Song: "Keep Holding On" Artist: Avril Lavigne Album: The Best Damn Thing (or) Eragon: The Soundtrack Grade: A- Review: I was so excited when I first heard this song...then after hearing it, I was slightly disappointed. But it has since then grown on me and I now realize what a great, empowering pop ballad this is. Avril's voice sounds better than it ever has and the lyrics are great, too....she really has come a long way as a singer/songwriter since her 2003 debut, Let Go. This track, produced by the amazing Dr. Luke, is definitely worth checking out!

Song: "Promise" Artist: Ciara Album: Ciara: The Evolution Grade: B Review: To my surprise, Ciara's voice actually sounds pretty damn good in this song. It's a neat ballad, but grows a little boring and nothing really stands out in the song. Maybe I'm just being stupid, but it does seem to grow a little lengthy when the instruments and beats are a bit all-over-the-place, but who knows. It's still really relaxing and isn't a bad song!
Song: "Starlight" Artist: Muse Album: Black Holes and Revelations Grade: B Review: This track isn't my usual cup of tea, but it is listenable. I've never liked Muse's music, but this one did surprise me a little bit. The music sounds kind outer-spacey (well? it does!) and the lead singer's voice isn't half bad either. Again, nothing really stands out to me on this track, but it is still solid.
Song: "Love Like Winter" Artist: AFI Album: Decemberunderground Grade: C Review: After hearing "Miss Murder", let's just say, I wasn't impressed. After hearing this track, I wasn't impressed either. The lead singer's voice sounds like he's stuffed up and the song purely lacks structure and anything really cool or great about it. I would take "Miss Murder" over this any day.
Song: "Lost Without U" Artist: Robin Thicke Album: The Evolution Of Robin Thicke Grade: C+ Review: Never listened to this guy until now...wasn't anything I would normally like, but I won't say it's bad...just not my style. The guy has a pretty good voice, but when male singers constantly sing in a voice, that makes them lose points for me. I could see this track being played on an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" or something...if hasn't already. Blech.

Song: "You" (ft. Lil Wayne) Artist: Lloyd Album: Street Love Grade: B Review: Got to admit, I thought it would be a stupid rap song at first, but it is actually a smooth and chill R&B/hip-hop ballad. I was pleasantly surprised, though, with this song. It's fairly dreamy in the music, but doesn't get boring. The only reason why it is only a B is because of the poor rapping...it takes a lot to be a talented rapper, and this dude doesn't cut it. The beats are also lacking a bit. But oh well...still, not that bad of a song.
Song: "Hurt" Artist: Christina Aguilera Album: Back to Basics Grade: C Review: To put it simply, this ballad is boring. When I listen to ballads like this, I generally feel what the song is trying to say. With this song, I don't. I hear a lady desperately trying to accomplish what she just can't: making decent music. It gets a few points because she didn't majorly oversing it like she usually does in her songs, but still...not a good song.
Song: "Make it Rain" (ft. Lil Wayne) Artist: Fat Joe Album: Me, Myself, & I Grade: D- Review: Typical hip-hop trash. Absolutely no clever lyrics or talent involved. There is something called a talented rapper, but you will not hear one in this song. The chorus is repetitive, being Lil Wayne rapping some stupid sh*t before saying "I make it rain, I make it rain.." There's no point to the song...it just about makes me sick.
Song: "Welcome To The Black Parade" Artist: My Chemical Romance Album: The Black Parade Grade: B- Review: I don't know why I expected to enjoy this, because I didn't. It is bland. That's just about it...bland. I really don't know what else to say about it. =/

Song: "Set Fire To The Third Bar" Artist: Snow Patrol & Martha Wainwright Album: Eyes Open Grade: B+ Review: The music is off in some places, but the lead singer's voice sounds good here, as does Martha's. The thing that throws me off is that it sounds like they are singing in places where they aren't...like they forgot where to stop and start singing. THat's just how it sounds to me.
Song: "Passenger 24" Artist: Melissa McClelland Album: Thumbelina's One Night Stand Grade: B- Review: As I have said with another track I reviewed, I won't call this song bad, but I don't like this kind of stuff. It sounds dated and to me, the lyrics are unimaginative and really, kinda pointless. The funkiness of it all also reeks of oddness, and not in a charming way.
Song: "The Long Way Around" Artist: Dixie Chicks Album: Taking The Long Way Grade: B Review: I'm not into country music, but this isn't awful by any means. I could see Diana DeGarmo singing this song. I love Diana. Teehee. Anyway, it is really common and nothing unique. It could be good if they beefed it up a bit.
Song: "Boston" Artist: Augustana Album: All The Stars And Boulevards Grade: A- Review: This song really is gorgeous. I love the lead singer's voice and the lyrics are well written. I must say, though, that it is fairly typical. Still a good song and it deserved the success it received.

Song: "Trilogy" Artist: Kelis Album: Kelis Was Here Grade: B+ Review: This track kinda reminds me of something Jojo would make. It's pretty damn hot! Kelis's voice is something I am usually on the fence about...sometimes it is just weird and other times it sounds pretty good. On this track, it manages to do both. However, she sounds pretty good on this track.
Song: "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" Artist: Jennifer Hudson Album: Dreamgirls (Music From The Motion Picture) Grade: B Review: The third season of "American Idol" is the only season I watched all of, and Jennifer Hudson was never my favorite. But in this song, her voice shines as she hits all the notes. She does, yes, oversing it a bit, but still, her voice is really good in this one. The track is also a bit boring, but very nicely done.
Song: "Nothing Left To Lose" Artist: Mat Kearney Album: Nothing Left To Lose Grade: B Review: I can see why this is doing well at Hot AC. It is perfect for that genre. Not a bad song, but it could use a bit in many areas. Mat does have a good voice and the guitar is quite good, but for some reason, I don't quite click with the thing as a whole.
Song: "Cupid's Chokehold" (ft. Patrick Stump) Artist: Gym Class Heroes Album: As Cruel As School Children Grade: C Review: This song just comes off as lame to me. The stupid rapping and bad singing is really not appealing, and it just seems really silly to me. I will give it something for being a little fun and quirky, but really...it takes it a little to the edge with how ridiculous it sounds.

;)
I think the reason why it sounds dated is the way it was recorded. Sounds very tavern-ish, which I'm sure is the feeling meant to be gotten with the recording. As for being unimaginative, I'm not sure how you mean. Maybe your imagination can't grab hold of what's going on in the song so maybe it's you that's unimaginative. lol ;) Good on you for admitting that you don't like this kinda stuff though. I don't see how it's pointless though. The song is telling a story in a non-repetative way. It's not typical of a pop song, which may often take on various pointless techniques in structure, lyrics and music. I'm not sure how pointless and a song like this can even be associated.
Thanks for reviewing these! Looking forward to more. :)

Everyone has different opinions on songs, so it's all cool =) And you're welcome, iMax! =)
Pulse, it sounds kind of like her song "City Lights". It only slightly sounds like a Jojo song. And funny you asked me to review "Over It" because that is what I am listening to now. I'll review those in a little bit, and if not in a little bit, then tomorrow.

*I couldn't find anywhere to listen to "Bring The Boys Home". Give me a link and I will review it later.
Song: "Be With You" Artist: Elisabeth Withers Album: It Can Happen to Anyone Grade: B+ Review: I was surprised by this one! It's a great, sexy R&B track and Elisabeth's voice is nice! Some of the lyrics are a bit ridiculous (From my skin-tight cheeks to my lingerie), but nonetheless, this is a pretty good track. Some parts of the song are a bit ''randomly thrown-in'' sounding to me, like the part where she sings something about being everyone in your fantasy or whatever.
Song: "Over It" Artist: Katherine McPhee Album: Katherine McPhee Grade: A Review: I didn't watch the 5th season of "American Idol", but seriously, this is a KILLER track. I mean, just amazing. The only reason it isn't an A+ is because the bridge isn't all that. The chorus is amazing though and Kat's voice is amazing. I might look into buying this album if I like any of the other tracks!
Song: "Hip Hop Is Dead" Artist: Nas Album: Hip Hop Is Dead Grade: B Review: This isn't typical hip-hop, that's for sure. It is unique, but fails to impress. Still, for a rap song to be unique is rare these days. And not because it's rap music...because most hip-hop artists are afraid to step outside the box. This one manages to step outside of the box a little bit, but could've been better.
((I'm glad you are requesting so many songs to be reviewed, you guys. Keep 'em coming!))
