Something happened to that other thread, so thought it might be wise to make a new one.

When is the last time a song has had a bullet near 1200 at this point, this song seems to have flown up the chart? Thankfully for her, the holidays should help it from losing its bullet as well.

Also, I wonder if Impossible would have done this well, this early?

"Impossible" is a great track but doubt it would've caught on as fast. Plus Alicia is coming out with her own material so it wouldn't of been a good idea to release it.

She can be as high as #34 tomorrow! TVW is not only doing good for a 5th single, it's doing good as a single in general!

I would not be surprised at all to see this go top 10. I would not have guessed that before it exploded onto radio, but now that it has, it looks like this may be treated as fairly as any single. I hope it isn't payola causing this to catch fire, but who is ever gonna know for sure anyway?

If this does do well, I wonder if they'll A) decide to release a 6th single or B) let this album go out on a high note and refrain from any further singles. I can't even remember the last time an album had 6 Pop singles.

Janet has released seven singles. When was the last album she did that? Did Michael Jackson have six singles from an album make the CHR-Pop chart? Enough Toni Braxton singles were listed that I think she may have released six from an album, but I don't know how many of her singles made the CHR-Pop chart.
As I said in another topic, if Big Boi and Andre 3000 release three singles each, Outkast could have six songs make some charts.
Counting "Wanksta" which BlahBlahBlah said was put on "Get Rich Or Die Tryin," 50 Cent had six singles make the CHR-Rhythmic chart and the Billboard Hot 100.

I think only the last 5 were promoted as singles from the album, though -- the first two were originally from soundtracks.

So I guess you could say that means Angel did extremely well for a 5th single. #1 and all.

In the late 80's and early 90's, five singles was quite a regular occurance. Michael and Janet did it both more than once. (I believe Bad had eight singles). Bon Jovi did it with New Jersey. Springsteen with Born in the USA. Def Leppard did it twice with Hysteria and Adrenalize. Bryan Adams did it twice with Reckless and Waking Up the Neighbours. As did Paula Abdul, and even Milli Vanilli.

Songs just stay on the radio for forever and a day now, so its very difficult to do so. Even those albums that could warrant five singles (Justified, Misundastood) have labels that don't release hits anymore. Its just a different era now.

Exactly, if an album back in the 80's released a 5 singles i don't even think that would equal 4 singles in today's terms if you add up the total weeks they spent on the chart.

All the albums you guys are counting for 6 singles, except for Janet, really isn't the same thing. You can't count albums that had a bunch of flops, came up with a surprise hit, and then spawned follow-ups. Record labels were much more willing to keep sending singles after flops back in the day, and now there's the "2 flops you're out" Rule, especially for new artists. I'm talking about actual singles that were ALL big and recorgnized. And not one that was on a soundtrack 2 years earlier and then appears as the last track of an album. The Outkast example is different also, because even though there would be 6 singles, in a way it's more like 3 double-sided singles.

Also, a lot has changed in a few short years. It used to be very common to have many singles from one album. Shania, Sarah McLachlan, etc. would keep on releasing single after single in the late 90's. Janet was notorious for having many singles from an album, and yet her last album only had 3. To me that's the biggest sign that times have changed. So even though I don't really like Christina, I think it's amazing how many singles deep she's going into this album

Which brings me back to this original question... if "TVW" hits the Top 5, should she plan on a 6th single or go out on a high note with 5?

If 'TVW' does really well i think they should release a 6th single around awards time, nexy year. As for what the 6th single should be their is many options.

I agree, "Wanksta" and everything else mentioned should not count. The last time a 5th single was released off an album was with BSB's first album, and that wasn't even really 5 singles since the US album was really 2 albums put into one.

If TVW goes top five, I also think Aguilera has a shot at taking home the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal at the 2005 Grammys...especially if she wins in a few months for Beautiful...the TVW may not be as big, but her vocal performance is more impressive than Beautiful.

I think if Stripped blows up during/after the holidays, then RCA may be obligated to release a 6th (at least overseas) unless Christina wants to start working on her new material. The one song I see doing well in any market, whether in the US or overseas, is "Get Mine, Get Yours," - thats a hit single.

I for one am not shocked by the performance of TVW. I mean, let's face it - Christina is one of the most popular pop (yes, I realize that is redundant) artists in the business today. Even when she first came out, people compared her to Mariah and they were right - she has amazing vocal talents and can produce fast-paced and slow-paced songs with equally good quality. That is NOT saying all of her songs share the same quality (cases in point, CHUD and Dirrty).

When she won the Best Artist award at the 2000 Grammys, I was not shocked and I believed that the well-advertised New Artist Curse would NOT affect her one bit. She has the talent and the looks to make it far in this business.

Back to the topic at hand - TVW has grown on me a little. I think I need to take out the album and straight out listen to it a few times. I will definitely say it is bounds and leaps above CHUD.

I am glad you said that and not me, because i would've been banned if i said anything that comes close to that.

Anyway, i don't know why, but Christina is never effected By recurrentities. Come On Over Baby had no problem peaking at #4 even though it was a 4th single off of an album that already had 3 top ten hits. And then you have CHUD which was a 4th single and didn't get effected at all by Dirrty's ressurection, and Beautiful and Fighter's recurrent spins. It's as if The Voice Within is the first single.

I think if they release a 6th single (which i would be thrilled about), it should and probally be "Get Mine, Get Yours" i think it's the most radio-friendly of all thats left

I doubt there will be a 6th single, even if TVW does well. RCA and Christina will really be pushing it. But if there is one it will most likely be "Impossible" since that's the only one that was considered as a single and still hasn't become a single.

I didn't think a 6th single would be possible, but if TVW can keep this up, you never know. I think it would be great if there was another one, even if it didn't do so well, just the fact that a 6th single was able to be released would be cool.

"Cruz" should definitely be it if there was another single, but if they didn't want to go with two ballads in a row (even though "Cruz" isn't a traditional ballad), then I think it might be interesting if they just experimented and threw something like "Make Over" out there. Just not "Infatuation" or "Get Mine, Get Yours."

"Infatuation" is good, but it doesn't show as much artistic/musical growth as the rest of the songs on the album. "Get Mine, Get Yours" is probably the most radio friendly, and it would have been a great earlier single, but I don't think the theme would go over well, and I wouldn't like the album to end on that note.

A 6th single could happen. The Voice Within is doing great on the charts right now. RCA might want to go with another one if the album keeps churning out hits which is great.

Actually now, I think "Get Mine, Get Yours" would flop. It sounds too dated.

I think that GMGY would be a pretty big hit if it were released earlier. If they released it as a last single I doubt it would do well.

I dont get the title of the song, at all. 'Cruz' in Spanish mean 'a cross'. The title "Cruzar" would have made more sense because that means 'to cross' and it talks about leaving and moving on and stuff...hmm
