Back when we were originally making the decision concerning where songs not set for release should be posted, I, as well as a few others, said that topics about non-US releases should not be shut out of the main forums. However, that was before we decided that song topics should be directed to a format. We were posting those topics in Music News. Now that we changed the rule, song topics for songs that will not be sent to US radio should not be posted in forums meant to discuss US radio.
The radio format topics, excluding Dance, are for discussion of the US radio formats. If a song is not set for release in the US, the topic is to be started in the Global Music Forum. If it's a dance song, since dance is not a radio format, but really more of a club genre, feel free to post it in the Dance forum.
So if it's Atomic Kitten or Sugababes for instance, it can be posted in the Global Music Forum. If it's Sophie Ellis Bextor, since we consider her to be dance for the most part, it can go in the Dance forum. In a case like the one concerning Madonna where "Love Profusion" seems to be a European release, but not a US release, that topic would go the Global Music Forum. If at a later time a song does get sent to US radio, you may start a topic in the appropriate radio format's forum.
Thanks! :)

I'm glad you guys are organizing this but can I ask why? Why don't you want US released to me mixed with non-US releases? What if a song is rumoured for release or there's a chance it could be released and the topic is made? I agree that topics about album tracks probably shouldn't be put into format forums but why isn't it alright for me to start a topic on the new Chantal single in Canada 'what if it all means something'? This isn't the R&R boards so I don't think it should be restricted to R&R discussion anymore.

Baisically because now that we don't have song topics in the Music News Forum, we're trying to keep the radio format forums as organized as possible. Since the basis of these formats are specific charts, it makes the most sense to discuss songs that are released to these formats, or at least songs charting there.
About your Chantal example, yeah I can see how that would be a thin line... since Chantal is trying to break American HAC radio, I think that specific artist is ok there. This is mainly meant to avoid having a topic about, say, Sugababes in the Pop forum since there are no plans for them to release a song to CHR/Pop.

The very fact that you have to tell people which forums to post what kinds of topics in betrays the fact that the organization of the forums here leaves much to be desired and much more notably, the issue of the relevance of the Global Music Forum.
LOL!

LOL! What's not organized about having songs sent to Pop radio in the Pop forum, Alternative radio in the Alternative forum, etc. ? I fail to understand what you're getting at.

Yeah, delete Global Music, which is the forum that this thread is primarily talking about, right? (See title "Non-US Releases To Be Posted In Global Music Forum"). I wasn't referring to any other forum.

I wasn't referring to any other forum. How do you suppose that would make our boards more organized? Remember, just because you personally aren't interested in a specific forum doesn't mean there's no interest for it.

I I got to choose I would allow international songs to be in a chart forum only if they are being discussed on a chart for that format in another country (not including all-genre sales charts). I might also consider how many people have heard the song.

If a song is not being released in the US, there's no reason to discuss it in forums for US charts. Period. If that seriously bothers you, you have a little more to be worrying about then where we tell you to post. You are always free to leave. No one is asking you to stay.
