I can't wait to hear this! The title sounds very 80's for some reason. I wonder what style it will be - ballad, upbeat, rock, pop??? This is the most anticipated single of the year. Delta Goodrem Single Goes To Radio Friday By Paul Cashmere 15 September 2004 Delta Goodrem's new single 'Out of the Blue' from her forthcoming album 'Mistaken Identity' will premiere on Australian radio this Friday at 7.45am. The song was written with Robbie Williams ex-songwriting partner Guy Chambers and recorded in London earlier this year. The single will be available for sale on October 11. The album 'Mistaken Identity' will be released on November 15. Here's what she looks like these days - short hair and brown! I like her old look better, but I guess she didn't have much choice with having short hair due to the chemotherapy she underwent. I hope she grows it out.

I think she is pretty even with the short brown hair. Hope the song is good.

That could be the best picture I've seen of her.
Her title reminds me of Debbie Gibson. Wasn't her first album called "Out Of The Blue"?

This is alright. If all of her others hits were huge in Australia, there's no reason why this shouldn't be. It sounds like all her other songs. This might even be the strongest I've heard from her, or atleast up there with "Born To Try".

Overall, I love the song... I'd give it an 8/10 but that will probably go higher. I heard it a few times on the radio this morning and I even taped it so I could hear it a few extra times (first time I've taped something off the radio for over 5 years!).
I can totally pick the song apart though. The first thing I didn't like was the vocals - especially the 2nd half where she sings in her higher register... I don't think this is her strength and it sounds weak like in "Born To Try" when she sings the high notes. Lyrically, it's nothing that great either, very cliched. It's overproduced as well. But overall it's a good song and I really like it, and the more I hear it the more I like it. It's nice to hear Delta singing a happy love song instead of one about heartbreak though!
Also, I was perhaps expecting more of a change in sound.... maybe the rest of the album will reflect this? Maybe she didn't want to come out with something totally different to begin with. This could've been a song from her first album. I've had the line *out of the blue* stuck in my head all morning.... so that's a good sign.

This is some info about her album, but it hasn't been confirmed, and some of them are B sides. It's from her forum. I like the song titles, hopefully they're true.

Wow this is pretty generic. I was expecting a little more originality from her. The vocals are pretty weak.
Its an ok song-easy listening. I would put several of her last album songs above this one. Maybe it will grow on me. It just sounds a tad boring and generic right now.

WOW….what an incredible voice. This is the best studio performance I have heard from Delta. The song is just OK though…the chorus drags and the hook really isn’t that catchy. The song itself looks to be a grower for me!
I hope the rumors are true that she was writing with Cathy Dennis :)

Upon first listen, I think if this were on "Innocent Eyes" it wouldn't even have been considered for a single. There is no Oomph to it. Let's hope there is another Innocent Eyes (song) on the new album

I'm disappointed that she hasn't worked with Matthew Gerard on the new album.

Malibu moment when Delta knew she had made it back By Christine Sams September 26, 2004 The Sun-Herald She's gone from Melbourne to Malibu. Delta Goodrem's new video for her single Out Of The Blue was filmed on the coast of California. Dramatically draped across a piano, the singer shows off the sultry new look fashioned for the launch of her as yet untitled second album. Her new release is one of the most anticipated albums in the Australian music industry, mainly because of the phenomenal sales of Goodrem's debut CD Innocent Eyes, which made her the biggest selling female artist of all time in Australia. Not only is Goodrem gearing up to launch her new album, she has announced she will perform at the ARIA Awards on October 17. Last year she dominated the annual music awards, winning trophies across all the major categories, but she was unable to perform because of her battle with cancer. "I'm so thrilled that I am finally able to confirm my attendance and, even more exciting, my performance," said Goodrem, who released a statement from Los Angeles, where is she putting the final touches to her second album. ARIAs event producer Mark Pope said securing Goodrem's performance was a major coup for the awards ceremony. "After last year's unfinished business, we are delighted she has accepted our invitation to perform," he said. Goodrem has been based in the US and Britain for the past few months, not only for the sake of her music career, but to be closer to her boyfriend, tennis star Mark Philippoussis. Her single Out Of The Blue was written about her relationship with the tennis star and includes the lyrics: "I wasn't one for butterflies/but you gave me love that I can't disguise." Goodrem co-wrote the song with Guy Chambers, who has previously worked closely with British superstar Robbie Williams. The full music video clip for Out Of The Blue will be seen for the first time this Saturday. The Goodrem marketing juggernaut is expected to continue in the lead-up to her album launch in November, with the singer already starring in a new Pepsi commercial. It's a far cry from the release of her debut album, back when Goodrem was starring as Nina Tucker on Neighbours. Not only is she now a multimillionaire, she has recovered from the devastating Hodgkin's disease that prevented her from touring late last year. She will also be one of the biggest stars on the artist roster for the newly merged company Sony BMG. Sony Australia chairman Denis Handlin has been announced as the new CEO for the merged company in Australia and New Zealand - making him the head of the most powerful record company in Australia. During her illness, Goodrem has described Handlin as "like a second dad", so the singer is likely to continue her closely held relationship with the company. While Sony's key artists, including Goodrem, were celebrating the news of Handlin's appointment last week, there was disappointment elsewhere. Ed St John, the current head of BMG Australia which had phenomenal success with the stars of Australian Idol, will not continue with the merged company.

'Out of the Blue' is growing on me and I really like her voice in it.
I won't buy the single *as I've always thought singles were a waste of money* but I'll be getting the album.
BTW, Has anyone heard when this new album will be released in America and what the American agenda for Delta is?
Thanks.

Plans were definitely scrapped if she's releasing a new album in Australia now. There's no way she can promote it in the U.S. if she's busy Down Under. She'd have to give up all her international promo in order to release the album here, unless Sony wants it to flop worse than Ms. Dynamite's album.

My guess is they wanted to get the 2nd album out for Aus and Europe rather than waiting forever.
I'm sure they still have plans to take her to the US... but more likely next year. I know they want to give it 100% when they do so watch this space. That will bring up the dilemma of what songs to release and how the album is gonna be - all new songs or a mix of her debut and the new album??

I think that America should just get Delta's new album as their first Delta album as the songs from her debut will be too old by mid 2005 *or whenever she gets released there*.

Very nice, simple video. Fits the song. I like it. And yes, she still plays the piano in some scenes. :) www.sonymusic.com.au/

This song has really grown on me... although I still don't think it's as good as any of the singles from her debut album, and I don't think the lyrics are that good either.
I got the single yesterday... the 2 B sides are FANTASTIC, they're called "Visualise" and "Beautiful Madness". Visualise" is Natalie Imbruglia-ish.
I'm sure it will debut at #1 next week. The B Sides have got me more excited for her album as they leave a better impression than the single itself. The video is OK... something about it annoys me though, it's too Celine Dion-ish and I don't like her short hair and how she looks like she is really performing for the camera (because she never did that in the past).

I saw an Australia commercial on CNN today, and Delta was in it! :o I was shocked. I thought I might have been seeing/hearing things, since I had just woken up from my nap when I saw it. She sang in it! I only saw her face for a split second at the beginning of the commercial. I hope to see it again! Go Delta! I just found an article about it, so I guess it'll go in Music News now.

It's another #1 debut for sure!
Yep that's right, Delta Goodrem has debuted at #1.... this is her 6th #1 hit.
This is only her 2nd #1 debut though (along with "Lost Without You").
