Hot Latin Tracks #2 Latin Pop Airplay #1 Latin Tropical/Salsa Airplay #4
I believe this was Shakira's first hit. I LOVE IT! My station played it a few weeks ago and it just sounded okay. Now I can't stop listening to it! Both her album and unplugged versions rock.
She looks so young in the video. It will probably be my avatar one of these days.

Shouldn't this be in the Nostalgia forum, since it's an old song. Anywho, I'm glad you made a topic about this, cause I was about to start one myself. I recently bought Shakira's Greatest Hits (spanish) and I just can't get enough of this song. It's truly awesome. It's good quality pop music with catchy hooks and lyrics (something you don't see that often in today's pop music) Even though it's in Spanish, the greatness of this song breaks language barriers. Shakira truly established herself as the first sucessful Spanish female solo pop/rock artist to explode on airwaves with this song. Wish her music in English could be as good as her music in Spanish.

I think so. I don't know. I just decided to make this Latin forum cover more Latin media topics (music news, nostalgia, predictions, TV specials), since some people from the other boards aren't very open to these artists.
"Estoy Aqui" was played on VIVA 105.7 FM today! JAM!

I haven't been moving topics in here to Nostalgia because most of the songs in this forum are old songs.

It's a great song. So catchy!
Everyone should buy all of Shakira's albums because they are all great. She is so consistent. None of her tracks could be considered fillers because they each have a life of their own.
The Unplugged version is great as well. How long does she hold that note at the end??? It's amazing. When I heard it I was in shock and when I saw it I was blown away.
Which video version do you have? The Eurpoean version is better than the original I think.

This is a classic. So much nostalgia attached to this song.

Shakira's international breakthrough single that started it all from her 3rd album (1st outside of Colombia) Pies Descalzos. It was co-written and co-produced by Shakira and Luis Fernando Ochoa. Sony Music released it in August 1995. It's fascinating how much her and Alanis Morissette's careers paralleled each other in the 90s, but then they diverged in the 00s. #2 Billboard Latin Songs #1 Billboard Latin Pop Airplay Gold in Spain & Brazil Did you know it was recorded in three languages?
