Shakira's new single La Tortura was sent out to radio stations worldwide today. MTVla has streams of the single and the remix for listening at: www.mtvla.com/news/articles/1499896/20050411/shakira.jhtml?headlines=trueThe actual single will be available for sale on May 17th. Not sure when it will be available for download. I am absolutely loving the original version. It's got a hot and original beat!

Interesting song. I like it a lot even though I am not a big fan Shakira fan in general. The original is my favorite too. I think this should do well in the latin market.

i'm loving it i downloaded the remix a few days ago, not so good quality, and i love it more now that i have a clear version.. although it seemed most of the fans reactions wasn't very good, so maybe that'll change now that the original version is out :)

Shakira is back! Love the song. The original version isn't the reggaeton one? ??? I'm kinda' lost. The Reggaeton remix leaked a few days ago thats why there has been confusion. Today was when radio's got the official one. I like it but it's not her best by far. I think maybe it has a very wide appeal - maybe that's why they released it first rather than going for Shakira's usual tactics of shocking everyone with something like Ciega Sordomuda or Suerte. I think it's playing it safe because the comeback could be risky seen as she has taken ages with this new album. I hope so anyway because the quality of this track concerns me a bit. I think it's because I am a fan, maybe I was expecting too much. Shakira is an artist and has to sell records, not just please fans.

I think it's because I am a fan, maybe I was expecting too much. Shakira is an artist and has to sell records, not just please fans. I don't think this is a play it safe type of song at all. First, it's a duet, which she's never done before. And having a duet be the first single, after an absence from the charts is risky. Second, it doesn't sound like anything she's done before (closest being Un Poco de Amor). I think the problem was that the reggation remix leaked first and a lot of people got upset that Shakira may have been "selling out" by making a reggation song because that music is hot right now. Also, a lot of people, including myself, were prepared to hate this song just based upon the fact that it was going to have reggation influences. However, the original version isn't reggation at all. It's a completely unique sounding song, just like Ciega, Soromuda, Ojos Asi, Suerte and Objection were. I think this is a great first single, IMO. She needed a big splash after being gone from the music scene for so long and I think this song accomplishes it perfectly.

Nah... Alejandro is huge in latin america, I think more big than her actually (I'm not really sure, but both are huge) reggaeton is hot, and I think it's a very smart move by releasing the reggaeton song to PuertoRico because they looove her there and pop songs or rock songs are doing badly.... But I'm sure this song will be a smash! and the album is going to be a smash as well

You can now buy the song on iTunes Great! I just downloaded both versions. The single version is up to #51 and the remix is at #92 on the latin chart. Not bad for only half a day on iTunes.

I've been listening to this song over and over and I'm not really feelin' it. Why did she chose a duet as a first single?

LoL you don't "feel" anything good... this song is a smash! my big brother (who hates shakira) told me that the song is awsome! and that he hear this song all the time in most of the radio stations in P.R.

That's great that it's getting all that airplay. It definitely isn't getting played here in Minnesota. Are they playing the remix version in Puerto Rico or the original version?

lol 1 spin SMASH! This song is a JAM. My mom thought it sounded too Latin for the Anglo market. I reassured her that Shakira was releasing an English album too.
