yeah, the album debuted at #3, but the single is up a spot to #2 this week
and Thalia is the first Mexican female artist to debut inside the Top 100 on the Billboard 200 with a Spanish album :)
i'm not sure how much it sold, i heard somewhere around 15,000 but i don't know if it's true or not.. there's been a lot of made up numbers by fans and antifans

She debuts at #63 on the Billboard 200 and at #3 on the Latin Chart with 14700 units in its first week.

Two Latin artists also made waves this week. Ardientes' Beto Y Sus Canario sold 21,000 copies at 62, while Thalia's El Sexto Sentido sold nearly 15,000 discs at 63.

By a lot. Both Thalia and Paulina didn't make the Top 100 when they released against each other. I think Pau was around #130 and Thalia was around #160. allmusic.com probably has the exact debut/peak. (I don't think either album rose after they debuted.)

Oops, I must have been thinking Jennifer Pena when I said #160. Both albums debuted around 30 places higher. #105 Pau-Latina #128 Greatest Hits

I can't believe the album is not taking off in the US!?!?!
The album fell from #3 to #6 on Billboard and the single took a huge fall from #2 to #8!!!!!
Poor Thali!!
Does anyone know how the album is doing internationally, (Mexico, Europe)?

Maybe her fans are being cheap like me. I still haven't gotten it, despite having all her others. It's just too expensive for the DVD one...$16 for an album?! No thanks. I would've gotten it if it were $10.99 or something, FA SHO.

Thalia has good music (I especially loved her English debut) but her recent efforts haven't caught my attention. "Amar sin ser amada" is good, but not that good...ah.

well the album is great, maybe she just needs another single out now.. the next is supposedly gonna be "Un Alma Sentenciada" (my favorite, so i hope so), but some people say "Seducción" too, it still hasn't been confirmed
i don't see any reason why the album shouldn't be doing, or do, great

I just saw Thalia on Otro Rollo. As with all of the performers on that show, she was lip-syncing but she looked great. Does anyone know how she's doing in Mexico and other Latin America countries? And does she have any other appearances on Mexican TV coming up - La Parodia, etc. that can be seen in America?

the album was #1 in Mexico and Argentina, and it did pretty well in other countries also.. it's doing well in Japan, they love her there
the next single has been confirmed now to be "Un Alma Sentenciada" (yaaay!), and i think she may have shot the video already in NYC, not sure when it will be coming out.. the song is starting to get airplay in Mexico
there are a few more tv appearances coming up.. she did both La Parodia and No Manches, although neither have aired yet even in Mexico for some reason, so the US has a ways to go before they come here.. No Manches is about 2 months behind in the US, and La Parodia i have no idea.. Juanes is gonna be on it this Sunday in the US, and i believe it aired in Mexico in September 2004, so.. lol
but one appearance that IS coming up is Asi Es...Gilberto Gless, she'll be on it in the US this Friday at 10:00pm on Univision

Thanks for the info. I just set my Tivo recorder now. Also, it's nice to see that Thalia is having success with her album outside the U.S. , since it disappeared from the Billboard Top 200 so quickly in the U.S.

I hope she's able to have a great second single and save the album. I haven't heard the whole album, but just pieces. I thought it was just ok on a first listen. I think her fans are missing a great merengue or salsa number like the ones she used to do, something really fun and powerful. Even something like Arrasando would be great. We need something SABROSO from her. At least I miss that. Her standard pop hasn't been that that great. Next to Shakira and Paulina, Thalia's voice sounds many times too sweet/girly in many of her pop songs, instead of cool like Shakira or Paulina. Let's see what happens... Being the wife of Motolla, you would think by now she would've already conquered the US pop English radio... :( Regardless, I still enjoy her greatest hits CDs and many many of her songs since the early 90s.

Thalia isn't on Tommy's label, and if you look at Tommy's top artists at Casablanca-- Tarralyn Ramsey, Lindsay Lohan, Brie Larson, etc. he's kind of lost his touch.

the video for "Un Alma Sentenciada" premiered today.. it's great! you can watch it on the Univision website, not sure if you need to be registered with the site or not, but it's free: www.univision.com/content/content.jhtml?chid=10383&schid=10562&secid=1303&cid=163711#xit's not a very busy video, but i think it's beautiful (as is Thalia in the video, wow) and has a lot of meaning, very spiritual and inspirational.. soo much better than Amar Sin Ser Amada, i'm glad this song got a deservingly good video :)

Plus, Thalia always brags in interviews how Tommy is a genius and how he "wrote the book on the music business" blah blah blah. Sweetie, if that were the case ur album would not have flopped so hard!

but what does Tommy have to do with Thalia's career? he doesn't work for her, she doesn't work for him, he has no direct connection with the decisions made in her career.. of course he may give her advice and things, but he doesn't actually do anything

That's like saying Tommy didn't manage Mariah's career. He just gave her advice. He didn't work for her. She had a management team, and Tommy wasn't on the payroll. He was an executive at a record label. It was Tommy who put up almost half a million dollars of his own money to pay for advertisment in Thalia's magazine (which folded after only two issues and really poor sales). Tommy co-owns her K-Mart clothing line. He helped broker the Hershey deal. He has his finger in everything Thalia does. And guess who is Thalia's management team. Randy Hoffman! Mariah's old team under Tommy.

but Tommy was the head of Mariah's label, not just any label.. and those things you mentioned, magazine, K-Mart, Hershey's deal, those aren't part of her music career
and she had plenty of musical success before Tommy even came along, so whether he's as great as she says as a music industry man or not is pretty irrelevant.. because we know she's able to be successful without him
i just think it's like i said a few posts back.. i think people are just seeing her as old news, as happens with many older already established artists, it's just the idea people have of what she is or used to be.. i don't think it's that she's gone way downhill as far as her actual music and work is concerned
but i think Un Alma Sentenciada, if given a chance, has the potential to bring the album back up.. excellent song, great video, it deserves to do well

Randy Hoffman, Tommy's best friend, runs Thalia's management. I think it's probably safe to say she has new Tommy approved attorney's, too. How is that not a direct connection? And that's just her music career. I've already showed how he has his fingers in every other business decision.
