This song is now #17 on the CHR/Pop chart. How far do you think it will go? Will it go further than Canadian Idol #1 Ryan Malcolm's "Star of All The Planets" do?
I find "Single" to be a mess of a song. For some reason, it reminds me of J.C. Chasez's music.

It's be ok if the intro wasn't the chorus itself.

I hate this song. As mentioned, it's a complete mess. The video is a great concept, but the fact that it doesn't fit the song and he looks unecessarily creepy for a 12 year old boi.
But success for any Idol song is good for the whole franchise.

But success for any Idol song is good for the whole franchise. No it's not. Looking at the bigger picture, if these "artists" can have success then they'll continue making more of them and ignore actual writers and artists even moreso.

I didn't say it was good for the industry, I said it was good for the Idol franchise. Which, regardless of if you LIKE the show or not, it IS. uhDUH.

I figured you were talking about the industry since that only has about 3/4 the common sense as what you did mean.

This song has a hook but it takes a long time to warm up to it.

Well it's doing better than Ryan Malcolm. I'm surprised that MuchMusic latched onto it though. It hasn't grown on me though

It's at number 17 on the MM chart as of today.
Does anyone know if CanCon applies to music video stations as well?

I think it applies to all Canadian media. Maybe Billcs can correct me but Canadian magazines, newspapers, books, movies? Television stations too?

I really only know radio and video - yes there are Cancon regulations. I believe there are different regs set out for TV. I don't know if there are any for movies, newspapers, etc.
