Only 2 days 'til the cd is going to be released here in Italy...so I'm staying strong and I'm trying not to listen to the album in streaming!

This album reminds me a lot of Nikka Costa's "Can'tneverdidnothin." I must say I prefer Nikka's voice, but Joss definitely holds her own and I think I might like the majority of her songs better. I will definitely be buying this.
And I'm just thrilled that any artist (let alone a pretty major, mainstream one like Joss) is singing this type of music.

I listened to the full album. Although I’ve tried, I just can’t get used to the sound of Joss’ voice. The songs I liked and could tolerate her voice are Music, Put Your Hands on Me and Tell Me What We Gonna Do Now. But I do wish Joss the best with her new album.

London She may be lamenting her single status, but that didn't keep Brit singer Joss Stone from getting her flirt on with some London paparazzi on March 7.

Before listening to this cd, I liked her personality more than her voice. After listening to this CD, I like her personality more than her voice. It's a nice try, but for me there's just a measure of pain missing that renders most of it nice, but uninspiring. I think she's cool though, and her personality makes her pretty :)
The funny thing is that I hadn't heard the track with lauryn hill, and I didn't know which one it was. But as soon as I heard Joss singing her butt off, I was like oh, this must be the lauryn hill track, because a great performer will do that to you - make you raise your game. You may front on your solo tracks, but get somebody like lauryn on there, and you best step ya game up, or you end up blazed on your own joint like eminem did hov on Renegade.
She's a step or two behind Leela James. I think as she gets older and gets more experience, her voice will be more reflective of that. Right now she's got the lyrics and the music, but she's not there yet. I've seen her a bunch of times and I still feel the same as when i first saw her on Oprah doing "I'm spoiled" and throwing her hand around, lol. But she's getting there.

Joss Stone = The Next Queen of Soul!
I might even go to the store and pay for this one!
Must download tracks are "Girl They Won't Believe It", "Put Your Hands On Me", "Bad Habit", and "What Were We Thinking".
There wasn't a single misstep on the entire album, the closet thing is "Music", and that's because Lauryn Hill is an utter disaster on the track, but it's not even a must skip. From start to finish, this disc shines. Joss finally gives a believable delivery to match her rich and soulful voice. The urgency and passion in her voice is so stunning, the songs are incredibly crafted, the music is well-produced. This is the first Grammy contender of 2007.

The urgency and passion in her voice is so stunning, the songs are incredibly crafted, the music is well-produced. This is the first Grammy contender of 2007. So three of your favourite four tracks + the first single "Tell me bout it" were written and produced by Rapahel Saadiq and these 4 were the only ones Saadiq wrote on the album, so it's really about Tony Toni Tone vibe, but Saadiq hasn't been able to create the same musical magic with his own last album, but anyway "Girl They Won't Believe" is nr one soulsong of the year for me right now - what a great song and for me it's all about Rapahel Saadiq's genius, but good to know that Joss Stone was up there to have chemistry with my man Saadiq.

What a shame they had to put Warren's song on the album - "Bruised But Not Broken" - are we still in the 90ies, that the soulpop album has to have the song from the woman who has made the biggist amount of money out of one idea or repeating herself over and over again.

I love "Bruised But Not Broken." Diane certainly has more then one idea in the 1000's of songs she has written. She is the greatest songwriter ever

I'm in the middle of my 2nd listen to the album, and I'm really enjoying it. It's a well-integrated marriage of artistic maturation on Stone's part, organic feel-good vibes and commercial considerations. It does feel a little safe, but there's nothing wrong with comfort food as good as this. I do agree with Damage about Stone not quite being there (certainly not at the Leela James level) as an interpretive singer yet, but the album is several steps forward for Stone. My early favorites: "Girl They Won't Believe It" (though I'm not enamored of the lyrics), "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now," "Put Your Hands on Me," "Arms of My Baby," "Baby Baby Baby," "What Were We Thinking" I also LOVE the end of "Bad Habit." "Tell Me 'Bout It" sounds better in the context of the record than it does as a stand-alone song. But I think "Bruised but not Broken" sticks out like a sore thumb on the record. Here's an early States-side review of Introducing Joss Stone alongside Amy Winehouse's Back to Black from Sarah Rodman of The Boston Globe. She seems to be in agreement with Damage:The whole review is worth a read.

lmao If she had Amy Winehouse featured on a song, it would not be on the Diane Warren ballad. Trust me.

PopJustice said "Looking at this week's album chart midweeks, Joss, you can probably rule out the 'thousands of years' option."
It's not doing well?! Wasn't it released like yesterday?

This is an amazing album. I already knew Tell Me Bout Itt, Put Your Hands on Me and Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now, but the other tracks are equally impressive. I only have until Baby Baby Baby and I gotta say this is the best album of the year, so far, for me.
Music is almost transcedental. Lauryn Hill adds so much and the chorus is perfection. Best song of the album. I also love Bruised But Not Broken. I don't understand other people disliking it, as Joss kills with her vocals and it's such a beautiful ballad. I like all songs so far. Really. 9/10
