I heard Clay is working on a new CD. Has anyone heard anything more about it? Here's what Clay has said so far: 1. It will be all new songs. 2. He wants it to be a single producer for the entire album, and selected a male, Grammy-winning producer from England, but he hasn't told us the name yet. 3. The label has already approved two of the songs for the CD. 4. The goal is for the CD to be out by "early 2008." 5. A handful of fans in a M&G were allowed to hear the demo for one of the songs on Clay's iPhone, but he couldn't get the volume on the iPhone high enough so they couldn't hear well enough to get us a good description or anything about the lyrics, other than it was "uptempo." I think that's all we know for now. I'm crossing my fingers that they can meet the "early 2008" goal.

what do you all think about this upcoming tour Kimberly Locke is talking about with Clay and Ruben called Reunited? Some fans are upset that Kim is still trying to ride Clay's coattails. Me, I just rolled my eyes at Kim. It's pretty obvious that she just mentioned the possibility so that her press release would be picked up by the media and she would get some free publicity. If you read her news release it says that she is "in talks" to "hopefully" do a tour, which translated means that Kim probably mentioned her wish to tour together to Clay and Ruben and they haven't gotten back to her. The silence from Clay's and Ruben's camp says it all. If it were true they would no reason not to confirm it, but they can't rush out to deny it without making Kim look bad.

Heh, just I thought, the "Reunion Tour" was just a PR stunt on Kim's part. Clay just blogged about it, and he said in no uncertain terms that there were NO plans for such a tour. He added that Kim had floated the idea a few months ago but that neither he nor any of his people ever committed to such a tour, and that he thought it "unfortunate" that such a story made its way to the press. Oh, he also blogged about seeing Fantasia on Broadway at The Color Purple. He said he had watched the show twice before with two different actresses playing Celie, but that Fantasia was by far the best, that she brought a fresh new take to the role that was more believable than anyone he had seen in any show. He even said that she elevated the acting of the others in the play as well. In short, he praised Fantasia to the skies and urged everyone to see the play before her run ends in January.

Kind of very sweet of her PR team to use an unsubstantiated rumor to get news out there about her new CD Gee, why not use Clay Aiken's name. I wonder if the entertainment shows were asking for him to comment. Nice friend, Huh?

Is it really that big of an insult to want to tour with the guy? I don't get it. ??? Does anyone really believe that Kim will sell or would've sold more CDs touring with Clay? I certainly don't...and having experienced first hand his fans with a dual tour, Kim AND Ruben are better off without Clay on board. It seems like Clay's fans made a bigger deal out of it than necessary.... besides that fact Clay's coattails are pretty short these days...heck he can't even ride them himself at this point it seems.

I certainly don't...and having experienced first hand his fans with a dual tour, Kim AND Ruben are better off without Clay on board. It seems like Clay's fans made a bigger deal out of it than necessary.... Kim's concert prices are what, $10 to $20? I don't know for all her concerts, but the last friend who went to one of her shows paid $10 for her ticket and at those prices the place was half-empty. Clay's concert prices are from $45 to $125 and his venues are decidedly bigger. For Kim to pretend to co-headline with Clay, share the stage equally and split the profits equally was extremely presumptuous. Open for him, perhaps. Co-headline? No. It would be like Justin Guarini trying to co-headline with Kelly. Besides, announcing a joint tour with Clay in Billboard and in a press release without ever consulting Clay was extremely disrespectful. Even if Clay had agreed to the concert, one artists never puts out a press release involving another artist without notifying the other artist and getting his approval. It's just not done. This was even worse. Clay never even agreed to the tour, so Kim flat out lied to Billboard and used Clay's and Ruben's names to attract publicity for herself. That's not something you do to someone who is supposed to be your friend. As for Clay's coattails, well, at least they're long enough to allow him to headline concerts when he wants, with full orchestras even, without ever having to cancel an entire tour due to poor sales.

It's just sad to see Kim being so desperate... :'(
On the other hand, she probably didn't read latest Boxscore:
Clay Aiken Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall Fort Myers, Fla. Aug. 16, 2007 $50,518 869 / 1,200 1 / 0 $72, $42 Fantasma Productions/in-house
Coattail? IDK... ???

Well considering her typical draw runs approx 300 folks at $10 each - that probably looks pretty good to her. Of course - most of the venues on Clay's most recent tour did better than that one, but frankly it is amazing that Clay is about to start his 8th headlining tour (in November) with no radio support at all.
Kim has had . . . um . . . zero headlining tours.

Every Artist has their soft markets, even Clay.
Here are some other Official Figures-
I know that he played the Hard Rock in Orlando and it was sold out.
I attended 3 Concerts in California..one was sold out, one only had a couple of empty seats, and the last one had around 3,000 people attending. I believe one Venue in Ohio had around 10,000 people there...unfortunately not all Venues report to Pollstar.
Not bad for a guy with no radio play and very little promotion for these Concerts. There was a bunch of confusion when Kim announced this, as Clay had told fans that he was working to get out the next CD early in 2008, so he could do Tour next Summer. (Solo Tour)
Clay was really adamant, in his Blog, that neither him nor anyone on his team ever agreed to what Kim is telling people.

Kim Locke's dirty PR stunt worked. Her rumored tour was all over the radio yesterday as well as in Billboard and all over the net with not one authorized comment from Ruben or Clay. You think if she was touring by herself she would get the coverage for her new CD that she got with Curb's unethical press release?
I love how Clay's well wishers pop in here to post the concert with the worst attendance figures but seem to skip over the ones that were well attended and the ones that were sold out.

wow and Kim strikes back with a statement of her own: kimberleylockeweb.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=37Thursday, 13 September 2007 I just wanted to clarify that recently during an interview regarding my "Christmas" album will Billboard, I was asked about any fellow Idols that I may speak with. I mentioned that I had spoken with only Clay and Ruben because I do try my best to keep in touch with them. I went on to say in that interview that I had spoken with them about a reunion concert tour idea and that Ruben and Clay were game for it because they told me they were. In fact, in my last conversation with Clay he suggested that my manager and agents contact his. They did. And they have spoken. And in telling Billboard we were "in talks" and "Now it's up to our agents and managers to book it," I was being truthful in the information that I had received. I told Billboard I was "hopeful" that the tour would come together. (That didn't get printed.) In no way did I imply that we were all committed to this tour idea. So contrary to Clay feeling "unfortunate," that the story "found it's way to the press unauthorized," it was not "unauthorized." It was put out there my me, who conceived the touring idea and called my friends for their involvement. If Clay had chosen to return my phone calls over the last two months, he would perhaps not feel as "unfortunate," and he would have been made aware that I mentioned it to Billboard. I want to thank the fans of Clay and Ruben and my own who were positive and supportive of this idea, which again, was just an idea. It will now be put to rest.

Clay has said that the album will be Original Songs...or he won't do it. At one M&G he said he had gotten two songs approved and let fans listen to one demo he liked. From what they could hear, it sounded uptempo. (he played it off his iPhone so the volume was low). He has also said he has hired a Grammy Award Winning Producer and is going for a new Sound with this CD. His recent Blog he said he was in NYC with one of his background singers, so chances are good he is in the Studio recording. I sure hope he makes his goal of having the album out early in 2008....cause I really want a Summer Tour! It really is all about me. So hopefully he continues to hold Cover Happy Clive at bay.

This was a fun summer with Clay on Tour. I am looking forward to the upcoming events through December and cannot wait for the new CD.
Kim will have to live with her own actions and her reasons for doing what she did. All Clay did was to state that he will not tour. What is up with Kim anyway. She slammed Britney for her VMA performance too. Does she have a new CD out soon or something?
My life is so full (work, family, friends, school), I do not have much time to follow my favorites especially Clay and hope he comes close to my area for Christmas.

It was just an idea? From the Billboard piece, she certainly made it sound like it was a done deal with only the booking of the venues left to do.

I feel sorry for Kim that she feels she has to use her friends, Ruben and Clay, to get attention.
16,000 albums sold in 4 months, on a major label is not good. The label can help her with radio play, but they can't make people buy the CD. She will get a temporary sales bump, and I hope it is worth it to her.
On the bright side, she only needs to sell 984,000 copies to reach platinum status.

Even someone who thinks Clay's career has gone down the tubes (which it hasn't) can't deny that he gets more than his share of press coverage. The media is anxious to cover anything and everything about him. I don't think Kim really expected to tour with him, she was riding his media coattails, and it worked great for her. Let's see if album sales improve.

Yeah the concert numbers that get reported are always pretty funny. I have seen "sold outs" listed for a bunch of artists' shows where in truth the size of the venue capacity was cut down to show as the exact number they sold, instead of how many were really available. I do know that of the shows I went to, several were sold out. Columbus was the largest crowd they have had for a show, adding over 300 tables alone when they normally do 150. Plus the lawn was covered as far as you see -- estimates were over 10,000. The Asheville show was a sellout with people still looking for tickets weeks before the show. The Cary show was sold out in the front section and the lawn was almost completely filled as well and it holds about 6000 altogether. And the day of the show was a record setting 104 degrees. No doubt some people didn't attend even though they had tickets, like 2 people near me who had family who couldn't deal with the heat and humity. The Knoxville show was also almost a sell out of over 2000+ seats. I think 3 of the 4 Florida shows were sellouts or close to it. But yeah, let's show one of the few that didn't have full attendance. Funny stuff.
I don't see how anyone can think someone who has made over $30 million in touring in 3 years is not doing really well. As said that is 7 headlining tours, not counting the AI2 tour where a majority of each show were reported in the reviews as being there for Clay. He is getting ready for the 8th tour and ticket sales are already going quickly. I'm not at all worried about his "star" not shining or burning out. Even without radio support, he does great tours, never cancels even a show let alone a tour as many artists have done in the past. Plus as always his TV appearances have larger audiences and requests than they can seat and get really good ratings.
The deal with Kim was ridiculous. I could never see Clay doing a tour like that as I think once was enough. He has his own show and his own people, who are more than enough to have his audiences excited and thrilled. It is known that his fans don't want opening acts, so why would they ever want to co-star a show. Having A & Q with him is more than enough to add a little variety to the show and to give him a break if he feels he needs it. Besides they are both amazing singers, why would he need another female who isn't any better. I used to like KLo a lot and bought her CDs, but some of her career moves have really been pretty disappointing in the last year or two. Trying to pressure or manipulate Clay and Ruben into a tour was stupid and crass. And if Clay hadn't returned her calls for 2 months, duh -- wouldn't that maybe tell you something. That apparently the friendship had issues or problems -- or that maybe the last time contact was made it ended badly and he was moving past it. I can't imagine not talking to someone, leaving messages, not hearing back, and yet still assuming they would want to tour with you when they never they would to start with. So yeah, I see desperation or using and her acknowledging she put it out there without permission from Ruben and Clay was pretty low. Seems Clay was nice in choosing to say "unfortunate" instead of what it really was.

As a fan, I've never had a problem with opening acts for Clay. Kelly, Cherie and William Joseph were quite good. I ended up buying Cherie's CD after seeing her and it is a great listen.

I really don't understand Kim's delusional thinking that Clay would agree to Co-headline with her. Reality is she has sold 16,000 copies of her current album, she plays small Clubs, and is rarely seen on TV Shows to Promote her CD. Clay is very generous to his friends and promote them all over the place, but I don't know that he would agree to something that would be harmful to his career.
Now Kim may want to look backward and try to reclaim that AI magic...although I think the magic of AI 2 was Clay and Ruben...not Clay, Ruben, and Kim. Clay and Ruben have no need to look backward.
But yeah, that sure was a lot of details for Tour, that she gave to Billboard.....for a Tour that wasn't agreed to by all the parties. And shouldn't a Tour announcement come from all involved?
Well I sure hope the PR she got for that was worth screwing over a friend to get.
If a guy doesn't return your calls for 2 months, you would think that would give you a clue. I know he talked to Kelly during the Tour....so he was returning some calls. Kelly even attended his LA Concert. I think the only Concert that Kim ever attended, was LA during the IT, when she was promoting her album and she sang on stage with Clay. Clay, good friend that he was, has attended a Kim Concert and didn't want any recognition that he was in the audience.
I know Clay has seen Fantasia in The Color Purple, Diana DeGarmo in Hairspray, Vanessa Oliverez in a Play in Toronto, Ruben, Kelly. He even supports people that weren't even in his season.
So what's next? A Kelly Clarkson/Justin Guarini Co-Headlining Tour?

Count me as one who was relieved that the proposed Reunion Tour was just a figment of someone's imagination....I thought Clay's blog stating as much was quite forthright without being harsh. He certainly chose to point the finger at the media rather than at the one who floated the story to Billboard.
I agree that Clay has always been very generous in his support of his co-Idol alums.
It is hard to picture when Clay would have time to do such a tour anyway....with a Christmas tour and hopefully an album release in the spring followed by a summer tour in support of the CD, that doesn't leave much wiggle room.

Dear Friends,
As the House Manager of the Community Arts Center, I am so pleased to welcome Clay Aiken and his fans back to our beautiful venue. The entire staff of the CAC had such a wonderful experience with not only Mr. Aiken, but with his wonderful Claymates and Claymaniacs last year. I believe that myself and the rest of the staff were moved not only by his talent, but his kind and loving nature. Not only is he an very talented artist, but a gentleman as well!
We really hope to see all of you again at the Community Arts Center on December 15, 2007. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns!
Best Wishes,
Lara Collins Breon
House Manager blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=73679048&blogID=313303896There was a report that Clay attended his 10th year HS reunion....hope so....If he did I bet he had a great time. So sad about his "Aunt" Joan dying. I have heard she was a mighty fine lady and, of course, we know from his book that they were close. Waiting not so paciently for word on who the next album's producer is. *taps foot*
