Ah, getting high praise from Mike Nichols is high praise indeed. This show is the perfect type thing for Clay, since it is not only a musical but a comedy with lots of ad libs thrown in and not just a completely scripted play. It takes a sharp wit to be able to ad lib and heaven knows he has done that often enough is his shows and tours. Couldn't be a more perfect fit for a guy with a golden voice and comedic timing. Nice to see that people in the know, actually acknowledge the talent Clay has shown. Now I just have to figure out how and when to get to NY. <lol>
Also loved seeing and hearing about the double date to see his buddy Ruben at the state fair. Nice of him to blog about it before the show encouraging his fans in NC to come out and see his friend. Lots of people went to the show. Hope they got to spend some time together while Ruben was in NC beyond just the few minutes that Clay got to be backstage with him. Nice that the friendship is still so strong after all this time -- probably a lifetime friendship between 2 great guys.

Wow, Clay decided to do an impromptu moderated chat at his fan club at midnight on a Tuesday - and he has managed to get 570 some folks online within 1/2 hour - LOL. They are signing in so fast it is hard to see his responses to the questions that the moderators are releasing.
Lots of questions about the Spamalot role, and the upcoming Christmas in the heartland tour.
There were some technical difficulties and it was short - but it was fun while it lasted - LOL.
The message board had 1100 folks signed on to read his one small post in the Spamalot thread - LOL.

I'm glad Clay has a new gig. In the end, he will be a star with or without Clive Davis. I think TPTB will regret treating him so poorly. He deserves better. Hopefully, once his contract is up with RCA he can move on to bigger and brighter things. It's tragic what's happened to his recording career.
Go, CLAY! :)

Flove that description of Clay: "amazing," "glorious voice," "excellent comic actor," "master of character," "wide ranging talent," and "a star." Fans have always known that, but it is great to hear those words coming from someone of Nichols' stature. I'm so excited about this Spamalot role. It's a major role in an award-winning Broadway show, but so NOT the type of show or type of character most people would expect Clay to play. Just like Nichols said, Clay will surprise a lot of people with his comedic timing and acting in this show. Can't wait to see him!

Cute picture, and it's nice to see Clay enjoying Ruben's concert. Those two seem so different, yet they really do seem to like each other. Also, congrats to Clay on the Spamalot role! I imagine he'll need a lot of stamina and learn much, but I have no doubt that he'll do a great job. This seems like the perfect play for him -- funny, silly, irreverent -- just perfect. I got a kick out of the bolded part of this quote from antiMusic.com: (antiMusic) American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken has a new gig. And even bigger news for Claymates that have longed to see their musical deity in tights is that the new gig is on Broadway! Not any cheesy musical will do, Clive must not have been consulted because Clay actually landed a role with one of the few cool musicals- Monty Python's Spamalot.

Wonderful news about Clay especially the new publicist part. *g* If I lived in NC, I would have gone to see Ruben even if Clay had not planned to attend. Ruben is one of my all time favorites from AI.
Clay looks great in the picture of him at the concert. Congratulations on his starring role in Broadway. I doubt that I'll have the time to get away but will discuss this with my bf. He enjoys Clay and may figure out a way for us to see the show.

Fox.com has some cute clips of Clay on "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader." www.fox.com/areyousmarter/The first one is Clay singing the theme song with one of the girls, and then Clay snarking on Jeff about peanuts not growing on trees.

Ah I loved that article about Unicef that had so much Clay info in it. Guess it can also put to rest all the liars that kept saying how Clay takes advantage of them on expenses and things since it says they pay their own way. Gee 3 trips in 2 years. And the part about them seeking him out, just another lie being debunked by those who claim he asked them for the position. But then I think anyone with a brain knew that was all BS anyway and just haters trying to do their thing like they always do.
Loved the clips of AYSTAFG too. There was another one that popped up showing the interchange about the question of "true being the antonym of false" and his response to Jeff. Too funny and I hope that part stays in the show. I'm really looking forward to this show. He was so darn cute in the all the pictures we've seen and the clips. Plus of course he did such a great job of getting money for BAF. Love that he is so smart and doing so many great things.
Gee it's getting exciting with all that is going on -- the Sedaka show this week, the Las Vegas Skating show coming up. the AYSTAFG show coming up, a tour, Spamalot, and a new CD in the works -- which probably means a new tour next summer. The guy just never stops.
Plus I loved the latest blog with "teacher Clay" showing through again. He sure does keep things interesting with his talent, wit, charm and dedication to friends and things that matter so much to him.

Wow just Wow. I heard a poor quality version of Clay singing Solitaire recorded at Neal Sedaka's show last night and it was the best version of that song I've heard. Clay was sick but you could not tell it from his singing. This one's a keeper if we get a better quality version. Jaimie, Jaymes, Mary, Sean and Jesse were there. Jaimie often travels with Clay. Jaymes is his EP. Mary manages his shows but is also with him at many events. Sean and Jesse performed with Clay last summer. Sean is a drummer (rock) and Jesse plays piano and arranges the music. Throw in Jerome (body guard), Quiana (singer) and Angela (singer) and you have most of the crew for the Christmas show.

Wonder where that "fat guy" went? Ha ha Looks pretty darn thin to me. That performance was totally awesome. Sorry to know that he was sick, but you sure wouldn't know it from his singing. He's always amazing and never lets anyone down, even when he is sick. Also loved hearing all that David said too. He sure is a huge admirer of Clay's talent and a good friend as well. I was so glad Clay was there for Neil. Clay became special to Neil 4 years ago and obviously the friendship has never died. That is just so awesome how he makes and keeps such good friends who have such high standards in the industry. Loved also hearing that Clay and Connie were the ones to get the complete standing O's out of the entire show. Connie was amazing as well -- always loved her and that song is JUST HER -- always has been, much like Solitaire will always be Clay's from now on.
Now on to seeing AYSTAFG -- the promos are really cute. And soon the Las Vegas skating event. Hope we get some clack or a cellcert of that. It was a great surprise to get the cellcert of Sedaka's.

Manon20, thank you for that YouTube link. Unfortunately, it's been taken down, but I found some other links. I really like this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AomN3eRKdvkThat performance is damn near perfection!

That's Jamie with Clay. I don't know her last name. I don't know the extent of their relationship, but she is often with him at non-performance events and on dates like the Ruben concert.
She also travels with him on tours and concerts and often cuts his hair for him. She is a relative of his step-father.

Did anyone catch Clay's appearance last week on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? He did great, winning $300,000 for the Bubel-Aiken Foundation.

ha ha Yeah you know how those "kissing cousins" are. Sure holds down some of the speculation of all the late nights at his house and the traveling everywhere together, including vacation in Brazil. The 5th Grader episode was great. He was very entertaining but also showed that intelligence we all know is there. Shame he didn't get the $500,000 since he did know the answer but I don't blame him at all for stopping. As he said, that much money for the kids was just too much to risk. Some of the outtakes that didn't actually make the show were up for a while on a couple of sites. They were really cute, especially the "nut banter" with Jeff and singing with the little girl. Also how nice he was to all the kids at the end of the show. Maybe someday there will be another similiar type show he can do a celebrity for charity thing for -- that was great. He also spoke last week at Yale on educational ideas to some teachers. There was a good report on it by one of the Connecticut TV stations. Looked like the same jacket too. ha ha, he does recycle those clothes frequently. They guy has got some ridiculously huge shoulders for someone who is basically thin built. I kept comparing his size to Jeff on the show that night he was on -- they are both around 6', with Clay looking just an inch or two taller maybe than Jeff. But the difference in shoulder spans, and how Clay's look so straight across most times, instead of sloped like most guys. Now on to the skating show tonight and the tour starting soon.

She lives there too apparently just as Clay's brother did, and as Kristy did..who also accompanied him on trips too, he can't go alone. Kelly C. lives with her brother.he travels everywhere, I see no difference, both are considered family.
I think Clay constantly introduces her as HIS COUSIN because he knows his fans are desperate and stupid enough to try and hook him up with anyone near him, including someone whom he calls cousin, as in family!

joon, by way of reminder from the neighborhood mod, we don't do fanbase generalizations at Pulse. Your "desperate and stupid" remark is uncalled-for and inappropriate.
