^^ Britney might get up there. HDD is projecting her at 400k right now but it might spike up over the weekend like it did for Carrie. I thought HDD was predicting 350 only for britney. I don't think she will come close to carrie's numbers-- even if HDD underestimated her, as they did carrie. Most of her die hards were out in droves on day one. But after the die hards buy their albums, I can't see that many people buying.

By comparison, Kelly Clarkson, Underwood’s closest AI competitor, sold 291,000 copies when My December debuted in June. Country’s Gary Allan took the third spot, while System of a Down’s Serj Tankian’s first solo album Elect the Dead scored fourth with 65,998 copies.

DOes anyone know if Carrie was in Dallas tonight? ANy interviews? KSCS Dallas looks to have her scheduled for a morning appearance in studio. I didn't see anything on the website of KTYS (which is the other main Dallas country radio station), but I also didn't look that hard. Good gracious, she's hot! :o Ok it was reported by HDD that this week's sales so far (Monday and Tuesday) totaled 49k. Thanks! Just for clarity's sake, it is actually Billboard reporting this based on the Soundscan Building Chart. With such a big opening week, I'm expecting a 2nd week dropoff in the vicinity of 65%, but would love for CR to fare better than that. Thanks to fischbone for the new radio interview links! The US99 one was an especial hoot! One thing I picked up from the K102 interview (during the discussion of designers) is that Carrie seems to plan on going to the AMAs. I'm really liking these extended interviews. I also have to say I quite liked Carrie's comment about getting flowers to Self. I would have taken her for the kind of old-fashioned girl who likes and even expects flowers from dates, so what she said surprised and intrigued me. I respect her answer a lot.

Had to go trick-or-treating and am just listening to the K102 interview now...
LOL at the double standard for men and women in the looks department in the music industry... "goofy-looking"! She certainly chooses her words carefully :)
ETA: sbp, you're gonna like this. Carrie thinks there's no way she can win FVOTY against Reba :)

^^^I've seen alot of posts about Reba being the favorite for FVOTY. I guess her duet with Kelly got her the nomination. If she does win, I know Carrie will be honored to have another Okie win it. She justs doesn't have a jealous or envious side. I know this for sure, we won't see any "WHAT's" from her. lol

blogs.usatoday.com/listenup/2007/10/half-a-million-.html?loc=interstitialskipTwo and a half years after her American Idol coronation, Carrie Underwood's star is undimmed. Her second album, Carnival Ride, sold 527,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That made it ...
> The top debut week for a female singer so far this year.
> The second-biggest debut week for an Idol (next to Clay Aiken's 613,000 for Measure of a Man).
> Her first No. 1 (first album Some Hearts entered the Billboard chart at No. 2 with 315,000 copies sold).
> Nearly five times as big as this week's No. 2 album, Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, which sold 112,000 in its first week. (Underwood nearly outsold the rest of the top 10, which totaled just north of 600,000.)
Speaking of the rest of the top 10, it features two more debuts at Nos. 3 and 4, Gary Allan's Living Hard and System of a Down singer Serj Tankian's Elect the Dead at No. 4, followed by Josh Groban, the debut of Coheed & Cambria's No World for Tomorrow, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, the debut of Seether's Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, and High School Musical 2.
More riveting chart details follow. <Snip>

Santa Clara University CR ReviewSophomore album 'Carnival Ride' deserves praiseEven country skeptics can enjoy upbeat new CD from Underwood
Carrie Underwood has managed to avoid the sophomore slump with her new album, "Carnival Ride," released on Oct. 23, by following age-old advice: Don't fix something that's not broken.
Underwood has followed the same format as her tremendously successful first album, "Some Hearts," which sold over 6 million copies in the U.S. and won her two Grammy Awards. "Some Hearts" even outsold Kelly Clarkson to become the best selling artist from American Idol.
The first single off "Carnival Ride," "So Small," a song about how all obstacles in life shrink in comparison to the overarching importance of love, has reached No. 4 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and is just one of the single-worthy possible pop-crossover songs on this album.
Perhaps Underwood is hoping to achieve the same multi-genre success she enjoyed with "Before He Cheats" with "Last Name," a song off the new album in which a woman gets very drunk and marries in Las Vegas, but wakes up not even knowing her last name.
Her music sounds like country-pop -- songs that could easily be played on pop stations, but still have the twang that makes them country.
Most of the songs are upbeat, feel good music with mostly wholesome themes and a few emotional ballads that showcase Underwood's voice and remind everyone why she won American Idol.
It is this versatility that makes Underwood's music palatable to a wide audience, including those that do not particularly like country. Even non-Underwood fans may enjoy "Carnival Ride" if they are in the mood for something light.
Most songs on "Carnival Ride" are about love, particularly young love. The songs are mostly positive and optimistic, except for a few power ballads that explore the sad aspects of unrequited love, like "I Know You Won't," and a song about a loved one who dies, "Just a Dream." But whatever their content, these slow songs show off Underwood's amazing singing ability.
The album gets its name from the last track on the album called "Wheel of the World," which is about -- not surprisingly -- love igniting and flickering out.
The second verse is quoted both on the album jacket and Underwood's official Web site: "God put us here on this carnival ride, we close our eyes never knowing where it'll take us next."
Underwood also keeps a little bit of sass in this album with the song "More Boys I Meet," which chronicles a young woman's dating life with the hook, "the more boys I meet, the more I love my dog."
Underwood has come a long way from the day she first walked into the American Idol open auditions. Even Simon Cowell can't dispute that she has found a recipe for success and proved she can cook it up again and again.
Underwood did take a little more creative license on this album, co-writing four of the songs, but thankfully hasn't tried to change her sound.
Fans that loved "Some Hearts" can expect more of the same with "Carnival Ride."

So apparently Carrie is even slowly winning over this past hater. Sturgis JournalThe Farr Side: Underwood beginning to go overI cringed when Simon Cowell said Carrie Underwood would become the biggest-selling American Idol, especially knowing he's not a country music fan.
I liked her, but I wasn't blown away by her performances. I still feel that way, although my opinion is changing.
It seemed "American Idol" was grooming her to be the winner of Season 4. That didn't sit well with me, because Bo Bice and Vonzell Solomon were clearly better performers. Bice and Solomon gave show-stopping numbers week after week, when Underwood wasn't always spot-on.
I guess that's the beauty of the show, but I always held the opinion she'd need a lot of guidance if she was going to make it.
I'm pleased with Underwood's success, guidance included. Her debut album, "Some Hearts," was the kind of album any new artist would be thrilled to have recorded. I say "thrilled," because Underwood was given some incredible songs.
With 4 No. 1 singles, "Some Hearts" exceeded my expectations.
Songs like "Jesus, Take The Wheel," "Wasted," and "Don't Forget To Remember Me" were almost guaranteed hits and I believe would have been no matter who recorded them. That's simply because they're excellent songs.
Underwood had the benefit of crossover appeal from the get-go because of her "American Idol" fan-base. The show typically finds pop singers, but her appeal transcended both genres.
Her biggest crossover hit "Before He Cheats" made her an even bigger success story, although the song's destructive nature made this insurance agent cringe all over again. I had visions of mounting vehicle vandalism claims across the country after I saw the video.
The last two years for Underwood could be compared to being on a carnival ride, which is the main reason she titled her sophomore set "Carnival Ride."
The hype over the new album is unprecedented, but it goes with the territory. Artists who do extremely well right out of the gate often feel the increased pressure to live up to the first album. It's not an easy feat, although Underwood has an excellent group of people working with her.
The album should follow in the footsteps of "Some Hearts," but it's clearly not a pop record whereas the first teetered on the fence. "Carnival Ride" has more twang, which could go either way with fans. I would have veered away from that, but that's just my thinking. It's contemporary country, but not of the same caliber as other mainstream country crossover divas like Faith, Shania and Martina.
The album opens with the foot-stomper "Flat On The Floor," but the CD doesn't seem to stomp too much after that. From there, it's mostly ballads, four of which she co-wrote, including the first single, "So Small."
Other co-penned tracks include "All-American Girl," "Crazy Dreams," and "Last Name."
I'm happy to see Underwood took a more active role on this project, particularly the songwriting. She shows promise, plus it helps to give her some credibility as an artist and not just another talent show winner.
Underwood has some big shoes to fill, her own. She has won just about every country music award imaginable. I'd even go out on a limb and say had she sported a mustache, she might have even took home the male awards, too.
"Carnival Ride" is a decent follow-up to her mega-selling "Some Hearts."

I didn't see anything on the website of KTYS (which is the other main Dallas country radio station), but I also didn't look that hard. Well there is another Dallas station KPLX. ETA: sbp, you're gonna like this. Carrie thinks there's no way she can win FVOTY against Reba :) Too cute. I know Carrie would be genuinely happy whether it is Reba or Martina (or, of course, herself) who wins. It will be interesting to see if Reba gets the sentimental vote. She was nominated in 2004 (almost 10 years after her last nomination) and didn't win. I, of course, would love for Reba to win even though I acknowledge that during the eligibility period, her stats don't stack up to Carrie's and, to a lesser extent, Martina's. It's all about timing. The voters tend to have short-term memories. As the nominations were being voted on, Carrie's album was winding down and new music from Reba was starting up. Plus, they may want to make up for the period between 1988 and 1995 when Reba was clearly the frontrunner and at the peak of her career but never won. Oh well, should be fun. In my book, you can't go wrong with either Carrie, Martina or Reba. (If Alison or Miranda win, that WILL be a shocker.)

Billboard Chart Beat: 'RIDE' TO THE TOP: Given its multi-platinum success, the number of hit singles included within and its lengthy chart run, it's difficult to believe that "Some Hearts" by Carrie Underwood has never spent even one week in pole position on The Billboard 200. And yet, the highest rank this debut album ever achieved was No. 2, its position the week it entered the chart on Dec. 3, 2005. This week, the album rebounds 81-60 in its 102nd week on the tally. At the same time, Underwood's second album, "Carnival Ride" (Arista), is a new entry at No. 1. That's just part of the good news for Underwood on the current crop of charts. The first single from her new CD, "So Small," moves into the top three on Hot Country Songs. That means all of the songs from Underwood's first two albums that have been actively promoted to radio as singles have made the top three. On the Hot 100, "So Small" is suddenly big again, as it rockets 36-20. That almost matches its peak position of No. 17, achieved the week of Sept. 15. Meanwhile, "Before He Cheats" continues to rebound, moving 40-37 in its 61st chart week. It is now just two weeks away from becoming the longest-running Hot 100 entry of this century and it is now in fourth place among the longest-running Hot 100 songs of all time. The top four: 69 weeks: "How Do I Live," LeAnn Rimes (1997) 65 weeks: "You Were Meant for Me" / "Foolish Games," Jewel (1997) 62 weeks: "You and Me," Lifehouse (2005) 61 weeks: "Before He Cheats," Carrie Underwood (2007) Over on Top Country Albums, Underwood's "Carnival Ride" also debuts at No. 1. This is the second chart-topper for Carrie on this survey; "Some Hearts" has spent 27 weeks in the penthouse and is still high on the list. This week, it earns Greatest Gainer honors and a backward bullet as it moves 12-13.

There's also supposed to be an interview with KKBQ in Houston today? I don't know what time. KKBQ: Wow, I am seriously impressed with Carrie's stamina. She's been flying all around the US since last week and 3 times a day with these radio station listening parties. No wonder when she gets home to Checotah, she's 'out' on the living room carpet!

Hey guys, I know Carrie has appearances scheduled today in Houston and I believe Dallas, does anyone know if she has a third appearance scheduled somewhere today??? I also know she has appearances scheduled for tomorrow (Nov @) in Tampa and Atlanta. I need to find out if there is a third city or appearance for tomorrow or also what time both the Tampa and Atlanta appearances are if anyone knows. On a side note, does anyone have the link to the interview in Chicago where she mentions she has three flights a day??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
