"Warmth" was disgusting. EVERY critic bashed her for thos enasty songs. The sex songs are soooo 1993 its not even funny. She definately needs to let it go.

For fun I will do 20 Y.O next.
1. 20 (Intro) 2. So Excited (Ft Khia) 3. Show Me 4. Get It Out Me 5. Do It 2 Me
6. This Body
7. 20 Pt.2 (Interlude) 8. With U 9. Call On Me (With Nelly)
10. 20 Pt.3 (Interlude)
11. Daybreak 12. Enjoy
13. 20 Pt.4 (Interlude) 14. Take Care
15. Love 2 Love
16. 20 Pt.5 (Outro) 17. Roll Wit Chu (Bonus Track)
18. Days Go By (Bonus Track)
- Change the extremely stupid album title - Change the horrible fan covers and real cover - Cut the lame Outros, Talks, Interludes - they suck now - So Excited should have been the first single and no Khia, she is a joke. - Call On Me probably shouldnt have seen a release. Its too 2002. - More Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis! - More Promotion - The promised tour would be nice. - Some of the tracks are REALLY horrible! -

I agree on almost all of your points, but I don't wouldn't necessarily want her to work more with J & L. IMO she should get more different producers this time around, of course with quality songs.
Also, I really think there were no singles on "20 Y.O.", at least not at her usual level. And that "Damita Jo" isn't as bad as it seems. Once you axe the sex-songs, of course... :)

I'm curious how Janet's mini-show went last night in Nassau, Bahamas. Can't wait to hear the details....

Ugh, I can't stand "Warmth" and "Moist". Two of the worst songs she's EVER done.
And as far as 20 Y.O. goes, I would have released "Enjoy", "Do It 2 Me", "Take Care", and possibly "Get It Out Me". "Call On Me" and "So Excited" would've never seen the light of day.

As for Janet's last 2 albums. I personally love the melody to "Moist." One of the more beautiful tunes Janet has written. Damita Jo could have done SO MUCH BETTER. I just think that Virgin/Janet went into a tail spin following the Wardrobe Malfunction which doomed this record. To me, as an album, it is far superior to AFY and 20C.S. Singles I would have chosen:
1) All Nite |Don't Stop| 2) SloLove 3) My Baby 4) Like You Don't Love Me / Thinkin' 'Bout My Ex (I Adore BOTH of these songs) 5) I Want You / Just A Little While (I really like this track and is great "pop" Janet)
As for 20 Copies Sold, I really tried to make it something it wasn't. Crap On Me should be considered the lowest point of Janet's career. When I heard that song I couldn't believe how bad it was. The rumored Jam & Lewis tracks that saw the axe because of the Midget should have never been cut...and I have never heard them!
1) Get It Out Me (this is one of Janet's finest moments in recent years) 2) Show Me (S. H. O-me...me!!!) 3) Enjoy 4) Days Go By

News from Nassau.....
Janet Jackson At the grand opening of The Cove Atlantis on Paradise Island, resort magnate Sol Kerzner welcomed John Travolta and Kelly Preston, Lindsay Lohan, Sean Puffy Combs, Liv Tyler, Rob Lowe, America Ferrera and thousands of other bold faced names to help Janet Jackson inaugurate his $1 billion venture. Jackson brought down the house with Rhythm Nation, What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty, That's The Way Love Goes & All for You and closed with a never-before-seen fireworks display by Grucci that lit up the 171 acre resort.

Agreed on "Warmth" and "Moist"- those tracks are soooooo dreary and go absolutely nowhere. Same with something like "Would U Mind."
BTW- 20 Y.O. stands at 640,200 and change in the USA- weekly sales down to 526.

How would this have helped sales of 20 Y.O.? She did first-week performances as it was.
There was no helping that abum, based on the material it contained.

Nothing on "20 YO" was any worse than anything thats topping the charts right now. Her lack of promo after the albums release and lack of pop airplay hurt her more than anything. She had the urban market covered but failed to tap the mainstream audiences properly. And yes she should have done more live promotional performances like this one. She should have even done some major club dates in major cities. She had a total of about 4-5 televised performances for that whole era. Thats not nearly enough especially when u have people like Fergie, Beyonce, Nelly F., Gwen Stefani and others performing at every televised event, show, award show and gig possible. Those few performances are just isnt going to cut it for Janet, especialy when u built your career and sold most of your albums because of your visual artistry.

Janet needs to be back in the spotlight. I agree that she's become timid since the Superbowl incident, but that's not her. She's a strong ass woman who needs to start performing her butt off and recording again!
I don't think I'll ever get over the last three years, ESPECIALLY the 20 Y.O. period. Singles released too fast, poor promotion and then giving up. A year has almost passed, yet it seems like that album never happened. Shame. Damita Jo too suffered and deserved more sales. At least that's sold 1 million. But 20 Y.O. at 640k? :( People underestimate her vocal ability. Listening to songs like Lonely, Because of Love, Come Back to Me and I Get Lonely, heck even in Busta Rhymes' What's It Gonna Be, you hear good vocals. Put emphasis on that rather than whispering or dancing and lip-synching.
She won't get screwed this time.

20 YO was too average for her in the end imo. That with a questionable promo tour aimed at pretty much only her urban fans led to it being overlooked. Imo, Daybreak was a highlight on the album and should have been a single.
As for Warmth, as cwilson758 said, the melody itself is great. I'd just tweak it to make it less obscene. Her sexual side always came out best when she was being sensual instead of pornographic. Same goes for Would You Mind, I like the production on it.

Yea, SAY IT, I have heard what's out today, but let's not lump Janet in with all that, because her history shows that she's BETTER than most of that. The problem too is age (unfortunately, which is an issue in the USA). That, coupled with Janet being near nekkid everytime you turned around, and other things, made it difficult for this last album to do much of anything, at radio or retail. Another big problem is JD- she should not work with him, period- he works well with others, but not with Janet (and the material supports that). It's rarely a good idea for couples to work together on projects. You'll get the rare gems like those of Fleetwood Mac (where the relationship problems helped inform the work), but that ain't the case with JJ/JD, obviously.
"Call on Me" did very well at urban radio (accounting for the bulk of its No. 9 airplay peak, along with some rhythimc). But, "So Excited" didn't get anybody excited- in the USA or outside of it.

The promo was good from the beginning but JD thinking that a Nelly/ Janet Collabo would be the selling point of the album is what went wrong. Also hyping up So Excited by adding Khia was just a bad decision too. With Oprah she should have did Daybreak along with Nasty because it would've grasp that crowd instead of something so dirty as So Excited. She should've released something really upbeat like Show Me or Get It Out Me as the first single than tried something like With U or another upbeat like Do It To Me which would've been perfect. Than release classic Janet with Daybreak or Enjoy and than the tour should've proceeded. Janet just got lost in the mix after awhile. If she would've released her album in the summer it would've been perfect for her.
