www.usatoday.com/life/music/awards/grammys/2008-02-04-grammy-duets_N.htmAt 81, Tony Bennett is arguably the most high-profile duet partner in the music business, having teamed with stars as diverse as Barbra Streisand and Bono. He won his 14th Grammy last year for pairing with Stevie Wonder on a new version of For Once in My Life. He'll compete again for best pop collaboration at Sunday's Grammys (CBS, 8 p.m. ET/PT) — this time for Steppin' Out, an old Fred Astaire favorite performed with 27-year-old Christina Aguilera. They're up against Beyoncé and Shakira (Beautiful Liar), Robert Plant and Alison Krauss (Gone Gone Gone), Gwen Stefani and Akon (The Sweet Escape), and Timbaland with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake (Give It to Me). More power duos — Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson, R. Kelly and Usher, to name two — will vie in other categories, reflecting a strong year for celebrity pairings. The veteran crooner and the young diva recorded Steppin' Out for NBC's 2006 special Tony Bennett: An American Classic. The singers also performed it at the Emmys in September, by which time Aguilera, who gave birth to son Max Liron Bratman in January, was visibly pregnant. Aguilera recalls a greater physical challenge while taping Steppin' Out. "I was getting over the flu," she says. Bennett responded with flowers and a teddy bear. "He was so supportive and caring, such a gentleman. He has so much charisma, and brought all this energy and experience." Bennett was equally impressed. He had wanted youthful energy for the tune but was blown away by this "dainty, beautiful little girl who could belt out a song like Ethel Merman. She really reached the back of the house." She has done duets with artists ranging from Andrea Bocelli to Nelly, but "some are more special than others," says Aguilera, who wrote Bennett a letter of thanks. "It's all about give and take. There has to be a certain respect level so nobody outshines the other person." Adds Bennett: "There has to be contrast as well as chemistry. The two voices have to sound completely different and yet be compatible." A duet "is always a high-wire act," says Alan Light, programming director for Ovation's cable series Live From the Artists Den, especially "when dealing with names and voices as familiar" as those of the collaboration nominees. When the act succeeds, "it's an opportunity to bridge a generation gap," he says. "You can introduce an influential artist to a new audience and make an event out of it."

Why does amazon say "currently unavailable?" Probably because it's Bestbuy exculsive. Christina is not attending the Grammys according to someone who asked her at the signing.

Image of the day over at Jam! Music, a Canadian entertainment website. Anyway, WOW! That's probably the worst picture I've ever seen of Christina and I always thought Christina was the best looking singer to come out of the teen pop explosion of the late 90s. She looked SUPER in 'Dirrty' and even more HOT in 'Beautiful' but wow...! Trailer trash in that picture...! Lose the makeup and the beach balls on her chest....!

Well, she just had a baby...that may explain the massive boobage...but I agree she should lose all the makeup but she has always been that way

Motherhood leaves Christina Aguilera looking swell After giving birth to her son Max four weeks ago, Christina Aguilera rapidly regained her figure. But there was one area where her body received an impressive boost. The 27-year-old singer revealed her post-pregnancy bosom at her concert DVD launch in Los Angeles. Seemingly keen to show off her new assets, she spurned a nursing bra in favour of skimpy lingerie and a plunging neckline. The pop star made her first public appearance since welcoming her first child to promote the release of her new DVD set Back to Basics: Live and Down Under in LA yesterday. It appears she welcomed the change of scenery, with the star admitting: "I'm so going stir-crazy in the house." In a radio interview prior to the appearance, she gushed about her "incredible" son and said she is already inspired to write a new album. "This whole incredible thing that's taken part in my life, between the pregnancy and the birth, I've got so much to be inspired about and so much in my life to write about. "I've been brain-storming for the last nine months, actually. This next album will have a whole new me, so there's a lot to look forward to."

CLIVE DAVIS INVITATIONS OUT FOR GRAMMY PARTY: Annual event to be held Saturday in Beverly Hills
*J Records head Clive Davis has sent out invitations to his annual pre-Grammy dinner extravaganza and Fox411's Roger Friedman has a detailed description of it in his Monday column.
"The swanky black and gold square-shaped invitation has four pages of past dinner performers," Friedman wrote. "The book opens with Alicia Keys, and continues with such Davis stalwarts as Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart, Annie Lennox, Barry Manilow, Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson.
"But it’s the fourth page that’s most interesting. Diana Ross in the upper left hand corner. Rob Thomas and Carlos Santana are next to her. Below that pair is Kelly Clarkson, by herself. And to Clarkson’s left is the duo of Usher and Kanye West."
Other performers on the invite, according to Friedman, include Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige and Chaka Khan. "Not pictured, of course, is Justin Timberlake, who blew off performing at last year’s dinner with no notice after claiming he’d had the flu," notes Friedman.
The Davis event will be held at the Beverly Hilton this year on Saturday. Friedman adds: "As the invite says, 'Yes, The Entertainment Will Be Very Serious!'"

Hmmmm. I'm intrigued to find out what the "whole new me" will mean. Any guesses? Will motherhood play a part?

I'm hoping the album is like her "Ray Of Light" except in a different style of music than electronica-- but same mood and general subject matter as well as a similar image to it.
But Christina PLEASE put 2 to 3 commercial & radio-friendly tracks on the record to be able to send to radio as singles. You could definitely use a couple Top 5 pop radio hits and a chance at #1 with a your lead-off single would be good if RCA isn't stupid with the digital release this time around.

i thought she said she would do a dance record next.? futuristic? what happened to that? I think she was just "talking" when she made that comment because she hasn't said ANYTHING related to that since then. Who knows what she'll end up doing... I hate that she's always so tight lipped when it comes to this stuff.
