It's leaked...its brilliant...Glenn Ballard is a genius...Alanis needs to work with him on a new album. I felt bad downloading it, but I couldn't resist. For sure I'm going to be at Starbucks opening day, no doubt. I absolutely LOVE it. OMG to Perfect & Your House......I love the whole thing.

After listening to the whole album some more, I still really really like Not The Doctor and Your House. :) The rest just make me want to listen to their original track.

Wow I love the entire album. Listened to every song once through and loved it - some of the tracks were more superiour than the originals, dare I say.
I'm gonna buy this album on the first day for sure. I really liked All I Really Want, You Learn, Perfect, Right Through You, You Oughta Know (of course) and Your House.

I saw Alanis Morrisette on Cribs last night, she seemed really down-to-earth and didn't seem materialistic at all.

That's a bit expensive. Hopefully, it will cost less at a regular store.

Yeah sheesh, I was hoping for like 11.99! Man.. I see Circuit City selling this for $9.99. I'll wait for them to get it. And I think they may lower the price of all the other Alanis albums to $9.99 for a few weeks so Alanis fans can fill in their collections.

Anyone catch Alanis on 20/20?? It was a decent interview. They got it wrong and said she's released two follow ups to JLP rather than 3 but *shrug* oh well. Over all very nice though. Alanis is really funny. I wish people could see her humorous side! Not many people saw Feast On Scraps... she is HILARIOUS.

I cringed a little when they said she released 2 albums after JLP. Overall it was a cool interview. She looked really good too. About her humorous side, you know she is going to be on a show called "We're with the Band" on Comedy Central starting this Fall? www.maverick.com/alanis/quicktime/wwtb/

I saw Alainis live last Saturday and it was a great show. It is interesting to see Alanis perform her classic songs with an acoustic band. Here is a review of the show.
Morissette chills out
When the seething, sexually charged vitriol of Alanis Morissette's seismic single "You Oughta Know" -- the acid-drenched cri de coeur of an abandoned lover -- connected resoundingly with record buyers a decade ago, it catapulted the 21-year old, unknown-on-these-shores Canadian into the pop stratosphere.
And despite the fact that the now 30-times-platinum, Grammy-winning album that spawned it, "Jagged Little Pill," generated a string of subsequent hits (including the sweetly doting "Head Over Feet" and melodious if mistitled "Ironic") that didn't all register on the rage-o-meter, Morissette was forever typecast as the new-model Angry Young Woman.
Yet it was a radically different "You Oughta Know" that climaxed Morissette's two-hour performance Saturday night at the Auditorium Theatre, packed with ardent fans who'd also enthusiastically received a genial opening set from singer-songwriter Jason Mraz. The hiply dressed (leather pants and platinum-streaked locks), relaxed, rich-voiced Morissette took the lavishly decorated stage with a slick six-piece band, four days into her 10th anniversary "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour."
The 28-city jaunt pushes her newest album, "Jagged Little Pill (Acoustic)," released Monday exclusively in Starbucks stores around the country, 10 years to the date of the original's debut. An acoustic song-by-song retooling of Morissette and co-composer/producer Glen Ballard's masterwork, the album casts her classics in a more atmospheric, contemplative light.
In concert, one did rather miss the deliciously unhinged air of a tune like "All I Really Want" in its plush new setting. But "You Oughta Know" 's makeover was a revelation: It laid bare Morissette's anguish, not her anger, and your heart broke right along with hers.

I agree about All I Really Want. This is one song that should NEVER have strings in it. It reminds me of those awful string-quartet tribute albums.

YAY I got it!!! Here is my lil review, after three listens:
All I Really Want - AHHH LOVE the strings. Some people said they didn't sound good, I love it. And her vocals at the end, mmmm. They aren't as screechy as the original and they have a power to them that wasn't there before. And it's very nice to hear the audible end parts.
You Oughta Know - I was worried after the clip but I like it! Has lots of power, and again, the screechyness is gone and the production has lost it's high end (Tori will be pleased) The song is now more of a cooling anger rather than venom spewing.
Perfect - OH. My. GODDDDDDD. The highlight, no doubt. This was THE song that benefited from this new treatment, mainly because her voice sounds so damn good. The piano is heartbreaking and her voice makes me melt. I seriously almost cried in the car when she did the bridge. The end with the last "CRYYYYYYIIINNNNNNNNGGG" note is just.. amazing.
Hand In My Pocket - I still love this new version. It's so laid back and the nostalgia it gives me is unbelievable.
Right Through You - Another KICK ASS intro with strings. I love love love it. The electric, grunge rock feel to it is gone but I still like it a lot.
Forgiven - Powerful vocals, guitar is very subtle but this is a song that is just much better loud.
You Learn - Very similar to Unplugged but her vocals are again much more powerful.
Head Over Feet - I think someone mentioned that this sounds like Joni Mitchell? They're so right. The piano intro should have ALWAYS been there.. it's beautiful. But mixed with the acoustic guitar, this sounds like a Joni song.
Mary Jane - a;gjskldgja;sdklgjasl;dkfrigma' YESSSSS. The piano, a brilliant touch.. her new and improved voice makes the song sound powerful but also gives it a different kind of sadness. Another highlight, and the end... with the big vocals... God, I love this woman.
Ironic - Sounds very similar to the original, minus the loud, driving chorus. I like it though, but after hearing this song acoustic SO many times, it all kind of blends together. Again, very similar to Unplugged.
Not The Doctor - I have always been in LOVE with the slower version. It gives the song such a darker feel, and I'm so glad they imortalized it in the studio. This is probably my third favorite from the album, just because it's so much different from the original that it automatically stands out. I love how she'll sing the songs all deep and sing one word high... like "wounded BEAT and"
Wake Up - This song is very acoustic already, but wow, with the new vocals it is just so much better. I can't believe how much better her voice sounds. It doesn't have the acid it use to, it has power and control and elegance and grace. I too wish she would have said, "Get the hell out of here" like she's been known to do when she does this song acoustic. But the strings add a lot to the song.
Your House - BLEW ME AWAY. The instrumentation is exactly how I pictured the song with music. It almost gives the song a new melody. I think because of the lyrical content, it is better suited to be sung accapella. BUT, at the same time, the new instruments really breathe new life into it.
OVERALL: I am so pleased with this, more than I even thought I would be. It brings me back to when I would just sit and LISTEN to the original Jagged Little Pill and taken in what she was saying, the way her voice would crack, the roaring guitars, the dirty drum loops... this is the perfect "tip of the hat" to an amazing piece of art that will forever be known as one of the best female albums of all time.

HILL OF BEANS: A music retailer in Alanis Morissette’s home country of Canada has pulled all of her albums from its shelves to protest the arrangement her label, Maverick, struck with Starbucks, giving the coffee giant exclusive rights to sell a new, acoustic version of her 1995 smash, Jagged Little Pill for six weeks. HMV Canada yanked all of Morissette’s music yesterday, when Starbucks’ six-week exclusivity period began. (6/14a)

Don't worry guys. It's really not that bad. I mean, if people want any of Alanis' past albums, all they have to do is go to another store. Not to mention, there is no such thing as bad publicity :)
