YAY I got it!!! Here is my lil review, after three listens: Hey MusicMan, I enjoyed reading your review! I agree with you. Perfect & Your House blew me away. I like the new spin on Not The Doctor as well. By the way, for anyone who doesn't want to miss it Alanis is on David Letterman tonight!!!

Don't worry guys. It's really not that bad. I mean, if people want any of Alanis' past albums, all they have to do is go to another store. Not to mention, there is no such thing as bad publicity :) I agree. If the starbucks thing wasn't done, there would never be any mention of a new Alanis release. But people know that she has a CD at Starbucks and now that HMV has removed her products, it's another news story for the entertainment section of the newspaper. All this stuff is getting her CD noticed!

Any first week predictions? 60k? Chris I think it's sort of hard to predict, given it is only available at Starbucks for now. I think it would probably hit 60k if it was released at all retail outlets. I'm going to say around 20-25k for the first week.

NEW 'PILL' TO SWALLOW
Hi Keith,
I've been a big fan of Alanis Morissette since her "Jagged Little Pill" came out 10 years ago. Yesterday, I got her "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic" from Starbucks and it was great and different. My question is: Since all of the tracks for the "acoustic" version are identical to the original, will the number of copies sold for the acoustic version counts separately or be added to the 14.4 million that the original "Jagged Little Pill" had sold?
Thanks,
Sean
Hi Sean,
The new "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic" will not have its sales merged together with the original disc. It's really not the same album as the original, despite the fact that she is singing the same songs, albeit acoustically.
Because the "Acoustic" album is currently available exclusively at Starbucks, the title will only appear on Billboard's Top Comprehensive Albums chart, which lists all albums (both catalog and current) that are both available at all retailers, as well as those offered exclusively through certain sellers.
Until the availability of "Acoustic" expands to other retailers, it will not be eligible to chart on The Billboard 200.

I guess this guy was wrong?

Wow Chris, you really were on the money. Nice prediction.
I'm very excited about this. I can't believe it sold so well exclusively through Starbucks.
From Hits Daily Double:
"STAR POWER: Starbucks has just set a chain-wide record for one-week sales as they deliver 61k units the first week on Alanis Morissette. The highly controversial exclusive, not being made available to other retailers for six weeks, debuted #14 on the HITS Album chart..."

Also worth noting is the debut of Alanis Morissette's Starbucks-exclusive "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic" at No. 17 on Billboard's Top Comprehensive Albums chart. The Maverick/Warner Bros. set, which sold 56,000 copies through the Seattle-based coffee retailer's U.S. outlets, is not eligible to chart on The Billboard 200 unless it is generally available to all retailers. The Comprehensive chart, however, does include certain retailer-exclusive product as well as catalog titles. "Acoustic" will expand to other retailers outside of Starbucks on July 26.

Has anyone seen the adds for Alanis' VH1 special which airs this Thursday? Geez, she just looks weird with those blonde streaks and heavy make-up - almost like a hooker. Why has she suddenly started to glam herself up? Makes her music (which was defined by her rocker, bad-ass, angry bitch persona) seem worthless now. JMHO!

So wearing makeup can make one of the best cds ever worthless? RIght I dont know if you have been keeping up with Alanis, but she has changed a lot since the mid 90s. She has fallen in love and worked through a lot of her issues and that shows in her music. In her latest discs you can hear a lot more sensitivity in her selfdoubt rather than anger.

Alanis would be much less interesting if she was still a bitter angry rock-chick.

Well the reason I said it was worthless is because the album (JLP) made her career and for her to take on this really unneccessary endevour of giving each track, in its original order, the acoustic treatment --- I think she should have gone all the way and made it a more complete package by presenting the album in the persona that made the album a draw in the first place.
I appreciate change in all its forms, but for her to adopt this "I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar" image and approach (even in her most recent interviews) and then slut it up with heavy make up and all.... erm... irony much? Just my opinion.
I still like the Acoustic album though and look forward to July 26th!

I'm glad her acoustic album is doing well. It's too bad her new material hasn't been getting the response that the older material seems to be getting.

That makes no sense. The point of this record is to show how not just the songs, but Alanis as a person has evovled. It is a progression, not something for her to go back in time with. And slutting it up with make-up? I'm sure you just used the wrong choice of words and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...

Anyone watching? Kinda disappointing cos the whole thing is just a studio session. Was hoping for some tour footage etc to be spliced into the show...
It's turning out to be giant visual ad for the Acoustic album :(

It's turning out to be giant visual ad for the Acoustic album :( Yeah I watched it. It was a little disappointing because I would have liked to have seen her do "Your House" or "Perfect". It was okay though. I'm glad Vh1 is trying to give her exposure.

LOL! I bet everyone who wanted the album already bought it at Starbucks or downloaded it from a million and one sites that have it... What a foolish marketing idea IMO. The buzz has surely died down, especially with the tour more than half way through.
