Last I heard, this was just a rumor. If it's confirmed, that's really sad :( I thought they were such a neat couple. Not to mention, Alanis finally seemed truly happy.

Im hoping for angry bitter Alanis back (I know, Im mean) I want her to be happy, but she makes such good bitter music!! She wonβt regress and become that angry βYou Oughta Knowβ Alanis againβ¦sheβs come way too farβ¦but Iβm sure itβll lead to some interesting songs! Iβll bet when she sings YOK now itβll have a new meaning for her thoughβ¦I think it was hard for her to perform that when she was in such a good place with Ryanβ¦

I dont think anger is a regression-anyone can be angry. Maybe anger with more maturity this time around, but anger in itself is not a regression. Im thinking this may lead to more sad songs than angry.

Honestly, I'm not sure if Alanis can really do anything to impress me anymore. I know she's never top JLP and I think I've given up hoping that she releases an album that is near that in style. After 'So Called Chaos' found itself becoming my second favourite Alanis CD, I thought about how much better it would have been if it were a rock record and not a pop/rock album. And after her cover of 'Crazy' flopped for me, my interest continued to fall.

My interest has risen in her because So Called Chaos is one of her best cds for me-lyrically, on point, and showed a revival of what I think she is good at, even if it wasnt angry rock. If she releases cds on par with So Called Chaos for the next few cds, she will have no problem keeping my interest.

I thought it was her best since JLP except it really could have been a lot better.

Everyone compares everything she does against Jagged Little Pill which is unfair. JLP was a CD that turned into a phenomenon. You canβt repeat that no matter what you do. Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was really her f*ck you album. I think she did the honorable thing not trying to recreate the success of JLP and following her muse. That is a complex album that is not as radio friendly as othersβ¦it actually requires you to thinkβ¦but just as good. Under Rug Swept is truly a hidden masterpiece every bit as good as JLP!

Under Rug Swept is honestly her only cd that I dont find a "gem" All the others ones have various things that make them special and good-but URS was just really unimpressive to me. Bad me

I think all of her CDs have their moments. URS for example has 'Utopia' and 'Surrendering' and other tracks that I really have to be in the mood to listen to. SCC was a step up but it too has some gems. Even MTV has its gems. But unfortunately for Alanis, most of her stuff hasn't truly stood the test of time.

I honeslty love all of her albums. Some songs less than others, but her entire catalogue could be the soundtrack of many events in my life.
I really want a new album, and I know this event will inspire a few songs. Who knows what they'll be like. No one really knows WHY the two split yet.

Yeah, she said she's been writing and in the playbill for The Exonerated, it says she is "currently working on her new album." Also, Mike Elizonado (producer for Dr. Dre, Fiona Apple, and also produced Wunderkind from the Narnia soundtrack for Alanis) is said to be working on the next record with her. I forgot where I read that but I know it was an official source like billboard or mtv.com or somewhere along those lines.

I would love to see her work with Glen Ballard again. There is just a magic that happens when they are working together.
I just don't think Maverick is the place for her anymore. They always drop the ball on her promotion by the 2nd single. There is always this flurry of attention when she releases a new album, but they always wait way too long with the follow up single and they never get a momentum going...happened with Unsent (poor choice for a single though!!!), happened with Precious Illusions (that SHOULD have been a major Adult Top 40 hit!!!) and same with Eight Easy Steps.

I was never a big Alanis fan, but I heard her sing Utopia on one of the late night talk shows and I loved the song. Now I'm trying to decide whether to buy just that song or dl the whole album on line. It is available on URS and also on an itunes exclusive album where she talks in between tracks about the songs.

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie is underrated, in my opinion. I think it is my favorite album of hers.
Anyways, I was wondering; any news on an upcoming album?

Yes! I am hoping for a 2007 release...does that seem possible?
I love LOVE to see her live. Hopefully she will be in Michigan in 2007.

My favourite besides JLP is SCC.
I think 2007 seems likely since it has been almost three years since Alanis put out a new CD. Wow! It doesn't seem that long with her acoustic and GHs CD she put out since. It's weird to think that as of next summer, the same amount of time will have passed between JLP and SFIJ and SCC and the next CD.

JLP is my favorite album of all time and every album since has been downhill - SFIJ was fantastic, just not as good, URS was good and SCC was boring. Is she coming back with anything soon?

I think SCC was great but would have been better if it had a different producer. Those songs were meant to be rock songs, not pop/rock.
I'm kinda surprised that 'The Collection' sold as little as it did but then I think about it, it has a crappy tracklisting.

Way crappy tracklisting...it could have been a home-run if she would have stuck to the singles and not obsurd album tracks like 'Mercy' and 'Simple Together'...even minor radio hits like 'Unsent' or ''Precious Illusions' should have been on there...

I don't think "Unsent" should have been on it, it's not even a real "song". It's "So Pure" that I'm missing much from the CD... I believe those were the last figures confirmed by Ask Billboard, almost a year ago. I'm wondering how much her albums sell a week, especially Jagged Little Pill.

How is it not a "song"? Just because it doesn't have the convention verse chorus verse chorus? LOL!
imo, here are the songs they should have included!
-You Oughta Know (the hidden track version and NOT the track 2 version that's on JLP. That's one mistake they made!) -Hand In My Pocket -Ironic -You Learn -Head Over Feet -Uninvited -Thank U -Joining You -Unsent -So Pure (slightly edited radio remix) -Still -Hands Clean -Precious Illusions -Everything -Eight Easy Steps
Optionals: -Utopia -Surrendering -So Called Chaos -King Of Pain
And I guess 'That I Would Be Good' from the Unplugged CD even though I'm not a fan, lol. I was happy they included 'Princes Familiar' as that is my favourite from the unplugged CD so I'll say include it here too. 'Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love' is a pretty good song and Alanis' vocals on that are amazing! She's actually a good singer for songs like that. But it doesn't fit on this compilation. Otherwise, they might as well have included her dance/pop stuff from the early 90s.
All, a DVD with all of her videos (INCLUDING the live video for 'You Learn') should have been with it too.
And order of tracks matter too. LOL. The safest way is to order them chronologically but somehow, Sheryl Crow's 'Best Of' is amazing because of the tracks included AND the order they're in.
