Perfect Day will be the second studio album released by German Eurodance act Cascada. It's worldwide release is due on December 5, 2007. It is set to feature a number of cover songs, most notably Avril Lavigne's Sk8er Boi, Pink's Just Like A Pill, Patti Smith's Because the Night and the country music song What Hurts the Most as well as two tracks, Endless Summer and I Will Believe It that were previously recorded by Natalie Horler and DJ Manian under the Siria name. :'( :o ??? >:( Album tracklisting: 01. What Hurts The Most (recently done by Rascal Flatts) 02. Runaway 03. Who Do You Think You Are 04. Because The Night (originally by Patti Smith) 05. I Will Believe It (recorded under the name Siria) 06. Perfect Day 07. What Do You Want From Me 08. Sk8er Boi (originally by Avril Lavigne) 09. Could It Be You 10. He's All That 11. Just Like A Pill (originally by Pink) 12. Endless Summer (recorded under the name Siria) 13. What Hurts The Most [Yanou's Candlelight Mix] SOURCE
I'm disappointed, but not surprised by the number of covers on this album. Natalie has a decent voice. Why not better utilize it? The inclusion of those Siria tracks doesn't help. Both of those Siria tracks have been previously on the Abercrombie & Fitch store playlists. The cover of "What Hurts The Most" is just okay. The vocals are great, but the hard "jump up" production under it just ruins it a little. The ballad/candlelight version will hopefully be much better.

WHY would anyone want to cover Sk8er Boi? And also it is too early to cover Just Like A Pill I think.

"What Hurts The Most" was also covered and made into a Dance song earlier this year by Lenny Bertoldo with a male vocalist named Lyle. His vocals are close enough to the Rascal Flatts ones. "Because The Night" was covered for the umpteenth time by Linda O as a Dance song earlier this year. The people behind Cascada also did a cover of Bryan Adams' "Heaven" in the same way DJ Sammy & Yanou did it in the early 2000's. They also covered the Dance song "Castles In The Sky" by Ian Van Dahl which was a pretty huge club/Dance radio hit in the early 2000's. There is also a cover of "Turn The Tide" by Sylver (EU) making the rounds now with a hideous vocodered male vocal.

The U.S. release of Perfect Day has been delayed until early 2008. According to John Parker from Robbins Entertainment, Cascada will be recording some different songs for the U.S. release and it may or may not feature as many covers as it does.
"What Hurts The Most" now has an adds date of 12/11.

Cascada's cover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas" was released today. Buy it here. Is this being released to radio? The reason I ask, is I want to buy the single, but would like to when it's most beneficial for the song. Thanks.

The reason I ask, is I want to buy the single, but would like to when it's most beneficial for the song. Thanks. It is being pushed to the Dance radio format. It is also on the current Promo Only Dance Radio CD (the December issue). I would suggest waiting a few weeks since it is most likely to get played during the month of December. wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/casclast.wma

I'm surprised KNGY hasn't spun this yet. Cascada's music doesn't test that well in the San Francisco market. Back when "Everytime We Touch" was a single, KNGY was the last station to add it and the first to drop it. Same with "Miracle." They only spun it for a while. I think they should play one of the import mixes that is not as hard and aggressive. The Fugitive or Riff & Rays ones would be perfect. House/electro-oriented ones tend to get played here. This sort of thing has happened with other songs that were huge national hits but got little to no support here. Greek popstar Anna Vissi's "Call Me" was huge in the clubs and on Dance radio all over the U.S. It got played in SF after all the stations had been playing it for months and months. They played a really crappy mix of it that just was the chorus and some blips and beeps. Due to public outcry (I actually was part of the reason, seriously), they dumped it. Is this still being released overseas before the new year? ??? The international release outside of the U.S. may still go as planned.

Are you sure "Perfect Day" isn't a cover of Hoku's song from a few years ago?

Listen to clips of the overseas release here: www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/292584-01.htmI just listened to them all. I listened to clips of the covers first. I found the "Just Like A Pill" one to be decent at best. The original Pink version cannot be topped. Same with "Sk8er Boi." I was never fond of the original, but Avril's original is still better than the cover. However, their "Because The Night" one is much better than the recent Linda O one. The vocals are much better. The Siria project tracks they included are quite good ("I Will Believe It" and "Endless Summer"). Remixes with different instrumentals were released late last year. Those were excellent reworkings. Are you sure "Perfect Day" isn't a cover of Hoku's song from a few years ago? It isn't. OMG, she is covering Hoku? :o She's not. Thankfully.

I'm glad to hear that quite a few of these are originals. (I think, anyway? At least I don't recognize them.) Hopefully they can use one of those as single #2.

I don't care if all of their songs have the same sound/are covers, they're all pop-y/dance-y and fun! I'm loving the album.

from the AATW website:
Perfect Day, the new album from international dance sensation Cascada has gone straight into the Album Chart at #12, a massive achievement at this time of year, selling 50,000 copies in its first week.
Not content with conquering the album charts, the new Cascada single What Hurts The Most has also gone in at #16 on the Singles Chart on downloads alone! The physical release is out this week with two CDs available - the Maxi CD featuring 7 mixes and the CD Single featuring Cascadas' version of Last Christmas, which has shot up the TV charts since the video got its first plays last week - if you haven't seen it yet click here to watch it right here on the website!

UGH!!!!! WHY ALL COVERS....OMG Natalie....you can do better than this, hun! :( Why, you ask?? Because every trance hit that has made the top 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 has been a cover tune. It is these hits alone that have given electronic dance fans the perception that trance is full of nothing but cheese. It is that perception alone that has given record companies like Robbins a bad name, even thought they turn out quite a few decent trance tunes as well (some of which I have in my collection). But let us consider the cheesy remakes: D.J. Sammy, Yanou and Do's "Heaven" (2001) was a remake of Bryan Adams' 1984 hit. If I'm not mistaken, it went to #8. DHT and Edmee's "Listen To Your Heart" (2005), a remake of Roxette's 1989 tune, went to #10, if I'm not mistaken. [Correct me if I am.] Cascada's 2005 hit "Everytime We Touch" was a remake of Maggie Reilly's 1992 tune. The remake went to #8 and went gold, and could be platinum by now. Real trance artists, like Tiësto, PvD and Armin van Buuren (the new king of DJs this year, as reported by DJmag), are routinely ignored. Paul had a tune 2 years ago, that was absolutely worthy of pop radio, while still staying true to what real trance is. The song was "The Other Side" (with Wayne Jackson).

Cascada's 2005 hit "Everytime We Touch" was a remake of Maggie Reilly's 1992 tune. The remake went to #8 and went gold, and could be platinum by now. Technically, they only used the chorus. The rest was new. That PVD track "The Other Side" is absolutely amazing. His music is a good balance of both accessibility and artistry. His last two singles "White Lies" (with Jessica Sutta of The Pussycat Dolls) and "Let Go" (with Rea Garvey) both had the feel of something that I could hear in a club, but also on Pop radio. The latter is a Dance/Rock track in its main version.
