interesting. just saw an ad for the Grammys on CBS. they named a few artists performing, including Carrie, and they played the track for BHC.

^ really? either that is because it's her trademark song now, or it means something. :)

But Dudley-- am I correct in saying that the Grammy people don't like people to do a song that has been done over and over again at other award shows? BHC has been done three times on awards shows now-- AMAs, CMTs, and CMAs. So I keep thinking that they will want something fresh and new from Carrie, to make it more of a "grammy moment"-- as neil portnow is fond of calling it. Just curious what you think. thanx. I'm not in these people's heads, obviously. But I actually think that Carrie performing BHC might be less of an issue this year than it was last year, simply because it's not like Carrie performed BHC at the most recent CMAs. That said, the Grammy producers do talk a lot about offering performances that you won't see anywhere else. So I think that if BHC is performed, it will be with a twist we haven't seen before; something to either put it into a thematic context for the show, or to convey some additional current relevance (given that it is a song off a 2005 album). interesting. just saw an ad for the Grammys on CBS. they named a few artists performing, including Carrie, and they played the track for BHC. If I recall correctly, the ABC promos of the CMAs were played to FotF, which led some to speculate that Carrie would perform it at the CMAs. I never took that speculation seriously, and I tend to think BHC was used in the commercial simply because it is a recognizable and popular song.

Can someone tell me where you all even got this idea that an artist can only perform nominated material? I haven't seen the rule, so I am just wondering. It may very well be the case, but I just haven't seen it stated by any news or Grammy source.
In general, it makes sense that artists perform nominated material in that they are usually nominated for current material. Carrie is a bit odd this year because she is nominated for old material and has a new project out. I can't really think of when that has happened before. Carrie is also odd because her current single wouldn't make for a good performance song, so I just have no idea how to predict what she will perform. I can see her doing a solo performance as well as a tribute performance, whether that means doing a medley or being involved in separate performances (remember a few years ago that Tim McGraw performed solo, did the southern rock tribute, and was a part of "Across The Universe"). I feel 100% sure she will do a song of her own in one form or another considering the controversy last year. Whether that song is "Before He Cheats" or not, we will find out.

She will NOT do one of her own songs at the grammys, unless it's in a medley that includes a tribute song. jmo

According to this website, People Mag to run a 4 edition special on Country Stars. Carrie will be on the cover March 10th issue. Thanks to sp1106 @ OFC for the alert! “The ideal man “doesn’t have to do a certain thing or be from a certain place. Just treat me like I’m normal. That’s my only rule.” - Carrie Underwood, in the first of four special People issues on country music, on newsstands Friday

Green Bay Press GazetteWOOT! I think it may have sold out in just a few hours. I remember looking at one of the venues just a few hours after they went onsale and was happy to see one with no pairs available. I think it was this Green Bay one. Even if it's a half-house set-up, it's still great! A big, loud, sold-out crowd is always fun and Carrie seems to feed of the energy. Most of the dates on her solo tour are actually sold out already. And to think she was afraid no one would show up.

And to think she was afraid no one would show up. someone on CF said she called one of the venues (van Andel in Grand Rapids Michigan) and carrie is having a half-house set up. thats a pretty big arena. looks like shes being quite conservative in terms of arena size. some of the venues are pretty small. i know one that i am going to holds 6,000

Carrie should have gone full arena as she is selling out the small venues in a day, and the large ones too, with upper levels cut off. So she could have totally sold more. But I don't blame her-- because if she had been too optomistic, maybe she wouldn't have sold enough- and it would have ended up like poor kelly clarkson having to cancel, and move to smaller venues.

Some Hearts Underwood, Carrie 11/15/2005 Arista Nashville 7 2/6/2008
I've never agreed with certifications based on shipments and this is a prime example of why. She's 768,182 away in actual sales and IMO it's very misleading to the general public who doesn't understand that the album hasn't actually SOLD (to the consumer) 7 million albums....but that's the system we've got so Carrie deserves congrats on this amazing mildstone.
about the Grammy's, I think Carrie deserves to sing one of her OWN songs!! she's a two time grammy winner and is again nominated for several awards.... she shouldn't be stuck doing covers of other people's music two years in a row...regardless of how honorable it might appear.

^ First of all, the general public doesn't pay attention to certs. The people who care about them are people who know how they work. Secondly, even though music clubs aren't what they used to be, they do still exist. So, Carrie's sales are higher than her actual Soundscan total. For all we know, she has sold 500k in music clubs. I read a report not too long ago that had music club sales still being up to 10% or more of sales.

In terms of her Grammy performance, I could see them joining "Before He Cheats" with a random song. Remember how Mary's "Be Without You" was joined with "Stay With Me" last year, and that song wasn't in tribute to anyone. Is there some other cheating song "BHC" would go well with?

What would be really cool-- is if someone random joined carrie on BHC to spice it up, and then carrie segued into Stand by your man or something.
I just wish we knew already! lol
Last year we knew ahead of time about san antonio rose and also the rascal flats duet..We knew about Life in the fast lane I think, and perhaps even desperado. Did the songs leak, or did we learn from teh rehearsals? I am just thinking someone will leak it soon.
Rehearsals likely started today or for sure tomorrow- since amy winehouse is set for rehearsal tomorrow (if she shows). So there should be some leaks soon hopefully.

^ ^ ^ I don't think we knew until 1-2 days before, though, right? We might have known she was doing a tribute earlier than that, but we know about the tributes this year already. Specific song selections don't usually come out until rehearsals start.
