I've listened to it a couple times now and love it. It's still very power-pop. If this is the direction she's going in, then I'm excited. The chorus is killer.

It may be faux-Avril, but it's really catchy. Kelly should be doing Pink'ish, soulful rock. By the way, this is Bloodshy and Avant? So versatile. It's actually Max Martin, Lukasz Gottwald and possibly Kelly.

she is really versatle with her voice. The song is cool......nothing special. Sounds like a Hillary Duff song though. The Djs seem to like it so it should be about top 5 at pop but she will need something stronger for her next single.

Sounds like a Hillary Duff song though. The difference between Hilary Duff and Kelly Clarkson is that Kelly can sing. Also, Kelly has incredible staying power. The only decent song Hilary has recorded was "Come Clean".

Wow....this is good.
But the chorus sounds SO much like Avril, it's unbelievable!

The only decent song Hilary has recorded was "Come Clean". no1 said Kelly and Hillary were alike so there was no need for a whole Kelly is better than Hillary speach. I said it sonds like a Hillary Duff sound and I said that becase it sounds juvinile and ultra poppy despite the forced rock edge the producers were going for. No1 said anything about staying power and all that other unnecessary fluff.

But the thing is...it doesn't sound forced to me. Breakaway was an obvious Avirl rip-off and extremely forced. This incoorporates those spacey keyboards that The Strokes and Something Cooperate use on their records while still having that blatantly pop chorus. And I didn't mean to offend you by the whole Hilary thing...they are both experimenting...but I think Kelly pulls it off so much better because she has incredible vocal talent.

Lyrics... maybe.
Here's the thing, We started out friends. It was cool, but it was all pretend. Yeah, yeah, since you've been gone. You're dedicated, You took the time. Wasn't long till I called you mine. Yeah, yeah, since you've been gone. And all you'd ever hear me say, Is how i'd picture me with you. That's all you'd ever hear me say... Chorus But since you've been gone, I can breathe for the first time. I'm so moving on, yeah yeah. Thanks to you, Now I get, what I want. Since you've been gone... How can I put it? You put me on? I even fell for that stupid love song. Yeah, yeah, since you've been gone. How come I never hear you say, "I just wanna be with you"? Guess you never felt that way... Chorus But since you've been gone, I can breathe for the first time. I'm so moving on, yeah yeah. Thanks to you, Now I get, I get what I want. Since you've been gone... Bridge You had your chance, You blew it. Out of sight, out of mind. Shut your mouth, I just can't take it, again, and again, and again.... Chorus Since you've been gone, (since you've been gone) I can breathe for the first time. I'm so moving on, yeah yeah. Thanks to you, Now I get, what I want. I can breathe for the first time. I'm so moving on, yeah yeah. Thanks to you, You should know that I get, I get what I want. Since you've been gone... Since you've been gone... Since you've been gone...

Pretty good song, though not as good as Breakaway. Don't really see the Avril Lavigne or the rock comparisons. It's not rock, and it doesn't suck like most of Avril's shit.

I haven't gotten a good listen to the song yet, but right now I'm really not liking it. It's disorganzied and it seems like Kelly's really straining her voice. This song is = to Take Me Away in quality right now.

Yeah... definately more upbeat than Avril's stuff... sounds a bit retros 80s pop to me. The more I listen to it... the better I think it is.

This song is so Avril-like!! This song will be a grower. Nothing like "Breakway" or her past singles. Decent song.

The beginning is very Hilary Duff.
Love it though, what an awesome song! I can't wait to hear the rest of her album.

Max Martin was involved in this? It kind of reminds me of his work on Nick Carter’s debut CD. (especially Blow Your Mind) I think I can actually hear Max singing background in the bridge.
I have loved every song Kelly Clarkson to date and this one is no different. This is so “in your face pop,” which is my favorite genre of music right now. The kids will eat it up and so will their parents. It might not be as memorable as “Breakaway,” but still a smash hit. :)

Yep, the song was written and produced by Max Martin and Lukasz Gottwald (the guitarist on SNL). Kelly co-wrote another track on the upcoming album with them, a song about her recent breakup called "Behind These Hazel Eyes."

MAX MARTIN! :o I highly doubted he would ever return! I thought Bloodshy & Avant were the producers of this song? I have to say this is really dissapointing. If I didn't know it was Kelly singing I would have guessed it was Avril. I don't like this one much at all but I guess it's a grower. I think this will go top 10, probably peaking at #6.

The song won the "battle" on Houston's KRBE 104. It beat out Jay-Z's new song with Linkin Park. ("Numb" instrumental with Jay's "Encore" lyrics and a little added singing from LP) It was the winner by almost 65% so I think it should be a decent hit for Kelly even though it hardly showcases her amazing voice!

Heres the thing - every song Kelly Clarkson has ever released has been different - VERY - VERY DIFFERENT. How different is "Since U Been Gone" from "The Trouble With Love IS?" and how different is "Breakaway" from "Miss Independent?" And how do you compare "A Moment Like This" to "Low?". On first listen to SUBG I heard the Avril-isms and missed Kellys own nuances - had brain-lock and missed the vocal power & range required in the chorus and bridge.
I left it alone for a while and went back to it this morning - burned a copy and blasted it in my wifes Range Rover on the way to work and it worked its magic on me. It has a simple message conveyed with enough energy to light a small city. The w-i-d-e vocal range doesn't hit you right away - probably 3 full octaves - I'll try to find out from a musician at work but this is definately NOT anbodys "Lite". Try singing the chorus in Kellys key - it's raw power can't be matched by many if any.
So my conclusion is its a headbanging kick ass Pop-Rock song with loads of energy that will make the top 5 easily. More importantly I think Kelly can do 100 times better than this. How awesome is that?

:o the CD version kicks ass! This song is a TOTAL SMASH….should be huge at radio. I was one of the first ones to say that Kelly Clarkson would become a staple artist at “Top 40” radio. Despite a few bumps along the way…I think I was right!
