Toni has embraced her loyal gay following for so long now so she might as well do a little something that they might be interested in. Let me share a story that some of you may know about that further shows her appreciation for the following. Back when she performed "Un-Break My Heart" at the Billboard awards wearing that sexy black outfit and then for the final big chorus she went into the Soul Solution & Hex Hector remix of it, her label reportedly went into a mad panic thinking she had destroyed her career! According to one of the members of Soul Solution in an interview, he says that Toni approached them about making a version of the remix so she could perform it, without the label's knowledge of course. Toni liked how it turned out and asked if there was something she could do to thank them, and they asked for tickets to the awards ceremony so they could see her perform it and she got them the tickets. Toni went out on the Vegas stage and gave that iconic performance. Her label people apparently had no idea she would approach the performance like that and had no idea what to do because they felt this performance might have alienated her core R&B fans (kind of like what we are discussing about the backlash Usher, Chris Brown, and Nicki Minaj are facing right now). But fortunately for Toni and the label, radio PDs were contacting the label about how to get that version so they could play it! They quickly produced a slow-to-fast version using the album version and the remix to send to the stations. It has been commercially released as a bonus on some of her singles during that album era. Dance remixes of Toni's songs became a regular thing after that. Oh wow, I didn't realize that I couldn't recall a dance remix for any of the (many) singles off her debut.

Is Toni Braxton joining Mariah on 'Idol'?Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey judging side-by-side on 'American Idol' Posted Wed, 2012-07-25 17:10 by admin "American Idol" might be making history by having not one, but two Black judges in its upcoming season. The most recent casting rumor has singer and reality star Toni Braxton taking the place of exiting judge Steven Tyler. If Toni joins the lineup alongside newly announced judge Mariah Carey, this will be the first time ever that there have been two Black women judging as regulars on the series. An insider who works for Simon Cowell claims producers were less than discreet when discussing the newest addition to the judging panel and plans to add Toni were overheard. The news has yet to be confirmed. “When I overheard the producers during a candid conversation regarding having two Black, female judges for the first in the history of the show, I almost jumped out of my skin,” the insider said in an email. "To add to what was already internal pandemonium, I overheard them say that Toni Braxton was replacing Steven Tyler.” Toni has hit the “Idol” stage before, having performed on the show before with season 5 winner Taylor Hicks, and now fans may get to see how she is when the tables are turned. Neither Fox, nor Toni, have commented on the rumors yet. www.s2smagazine.com/stories/2012/07/toni-braxton-joining-mariah-idolMan that would be awesome

That would so fabulous of them to do that but it's a little bit strange.
Black people have not been here for American Idol in years. The last like four or five winners of American Idol have been lame, white male pop-punk/country/rock/whatever the hell Lee DeWyze was singers and it's been made pretty clear in the last two years that the bulk of the voting viewers are probably tween girls who are clearly voting on gender-bias.
I'd obviously love for the show to break out of this funk but it seems like they'd be setting themselves up for disappointment by giving two R&B icons reign over the judging panel when the voting public clearly doesn't value that kind of sound.
But on another note, I'd LOVE to see Toni get into judging a talent show. Her latest musical efforts have only chipped away at her legacy and she's sort of made a comeback to relevance with the show with her sisters. She'd be such a sweetheart and it seems like that'd be a great way to make sure people remember Toni Braxton as an icon rather than a has-been.

This is a power play! Idol would be a GREAT move for her! and even if they only pay her $2 million, she wouldn't be broke anymore, lol. And she'd have a platform to promote herself. Her team better make this happen (if the rumor is true).

[INTERVIEW] Toni Braxton Talks New Movie RoleThe R&B diva makes a return to acting in children's film The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, and reveals what’s in store on the new season of “Braxton Family Values” July 26, 2012 By S. Tia Brown Pint-sized diva Toni Braxton unleashes her super-sized playful alter ego in The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure— and talks Season 2.5 of WE tv’s hit series, “The Braxton Family Values”. EBONY: The new season of “The Braxton Family Values” premieres August 16. What should we expect?Toni Braxton: Fun and family drama. A lot of honesty— sometimes too much. But it is important that people see how being family forces you to make it work. A lot of folks think our show is scripted, but nothing is fake. The problems we talk about and what we’re doing is actually happening in our lives. EBONY: Reality shows force you reveal all, including dating. Are you seeing anyone?TB: Nothing is going on. Dating is different when you get older. You’re not as trusting, or as eager to get back out there and expose yourself to someone. When you’re younger you meet a guy, he’s cute and you’re like, ‘lets go out’. When you’re older you think, ‘can I bring him around my kids?’, and you think negatively before you think positively. That’s not good. So I am trying to be optimistic. EBONY: You have a lot of projects coming out, most notably a kids movie called The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure. What made you go full kiddie? TB: I’m in love with kids stories and animation. We did it a couple of years ago, like 2009. It was a lot of fun. It’s from the makers of “Thomas the Train”. EBONY: Tell us about your character.TB: It’s Rosalie Rosebud. She’s such a diva. She’s a little bit of me— and every diva I know. She loves roses. They are everywhere in her life, on her clothes, sunglasses, purses. She has like 25 pieces of luggage. It’s for little kids, like preschoolers, who typically have to watch this stuff at home. They get to stand up and sing, dance, jump and shout. EBONY: How did you prepare for your role?TB: I didn’t. I just went into the little kid that I am, that we all are, some times. I just said I’m going to have fun with her. When you’re doing things for little kids you have to think big and over the top. It was like laughing at myself as a singer a little bit too. It was a lot of fun. She has a private plan; everything in her life has to be pink, she thinks that everyone around her works for her. EBONY: What’s next for you?TB: I’m shooting a Lifetime movie next month about interracial love; I am Christian and African American and my love interest is Caucasian and Jewish. I am really excited. My son Diesel is in the movie. It comes out in February. EBONY: Anything new with you music?TB: I am working on an album. Babyface and I our going to put out a project of just duets. It will have three or four covers, and the others are remakes. The album is called, Love Marriage Divorce, kind of like Eat Pray Love. A single will be out by the top of the year. EBONY: In the past you’ve opened up about our battle with Lupus. How are you feeling?TB: It’s good to be back at work. I’ve been feeling really good and I’ve had a few great weeks. My body has gotten used to the medication. I am very fortunate and blessed.

Come on... I don't mind a few covers. But please have at least 5-6 original songs. Babyface and Toni are magic together. Surely they could write some good songs together!!!!

Why would AI even want her? Seems random. Why did they want Jennifer Lopez or Steven Tyler? no1 gave 2 shits about either of them before idol. They already have 1 R&B diva on the panel so im sure they will probably get a country artist instead of Toni but i think she has credibility as a singer and has been active on reality tv for the last few years (dancing with stars and BFV) so the reality show public knows her well even though she hasnt had a hit in ages.

The weird polka dot pattern all over that dress is not cute. Looks like some gross stains.

Watch: Toni Braxton Stars in Children's Film The R&B songstress is featured in The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure.By Ricki Moss Posted: 08/24/2012 09:00 AM EDT Toni Braxton is taking a brief break from her family values to give the Oogieloves some heart. The R&B singer and reality star appears in The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, a children’s movie that tells the simple story of friendship in the backdrop of a surprise party and a big adventure. Here’s the adorable premise: One of the Oogieloves’ characters is planning a surprise party when another loses a magical balloon. It’s up to a colorful cast of characters, including Rosalie Rosebud, played by Braxton, to help them find their way. The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure also stars Cloris Leachman, Carey Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Jamie Pressly and Chazz Palminteri. Check out a sneak peak at Toni below in the film. The movie opens in theaters nationwide August 29.

Saw The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure Tuesday night and I actually thought it was good. It's definitely geared towards kids (especially with the repetition of songs/phrases) but it does teach some lessons/values along with some enjoyment. It almost felt like a movie musical, with the film broken up by sections due to the three characters meeting 'new' friends on their journey to recapture 5 golden balloons. As for the main reason I watched it, Toni Braxton was just AMAZING. She played the diva part very well, she looked luminous, and her song/segment was my favorite of the whole film. Aside from the song, she also had some lines before it, after it, and had a little part at the end of the film. While I did notice all the 'celebrities' in the film playing an exaggerated version of their characters (especially Cary Elwes' wobbling cowboy), it all added to the fun of everything. I wish the film had done better (box-office wise) but it was worth seeing in theaters. There ended up being only a Father/Daughter in the theater with me, but they left halfway through the film (right before Toni's segment too!), so it ended up just being me in the theater. Oh, there were also 4 adults who tried to sneak in, but they left after 5 minutes because I think they realized it wasn't playing the other movie ("Total Recall") that the "Oogieloves" was sharing the theater screen with. I did manage to record 80% of Toni's extended "Scratchy Scratchy Cough Cough" performance, as well as a little "shout-along" they did after it since I was alone in the theater.

I watched the Oogieloves clip above, and I feel like Toni's performance was inspired by Mariah.

www.tmz.com/2012/10/29/toni-braxton-bankruptcy-fraudulent-transfer/BANKRUPT TONI BRAXTON Accused of Fraudulently Giving $53K to HusbandToni Braxton fraudulently transferred $53,490 to her estranged husband in order to avoid paying back creditors in her bankruptcy case -- so says the trustee of Toni's bankruptcy estate. According to new docs filed in Toni's ongoing bankruptcy case, Toni's estranged husband Keri Lewis received the 5-figure sum after Toni's money was already earmarked to repay creditors. Now, the bankruptcy trustee is suing Lewis to get the money back -- much like John Mayer was sued for $465,000 following a giant Ponzi scheme collapse in Seattle. TMZ broke the story ... Toni filed for bankruptcy in 2010, claiming she owed between $10 million and $50 million in debts. A rep for Braxton tells TMZ, "All of the payments made to Lewis prior to Toni’s bankruptcy filing were appropriate transfers for reasonable and necessary personal and business expenses in the ordinary course of her business." The rep adds Toni will continue to provide the trustee whatever info is needed to address the allegation.
