Stars Come Out for In Our Bedroom After the WarSeptember 25, the clouds will lift, and Stars will return. That's the day In Our Bedroom After the War, the band's fourth album, will be released on the Arts & Crafts imprint in North America. The Canadian firestarters' fourth full-length disc, and follow-up to 2004's excellent Set Yourself on Fire, was recorded at Vancouver's Warehouse Studios and mixed by Wincing the Night Away producer Joe Chiccarelli. It will be released on CD, as a digital download, and a double-LP. Check out the lovely Bedroom track "The Night Starts Here" by clicking on the link below! In other Stars news, Amy Millan's got herself a few summer dates left, and "Bill Badger" himself Torquil Campbell and his Memphis side-thing recently got A Little Place in the Wilderness on U.S. shelves. The band have a few tour dates themselves in September, with more promised in North America and Europe throughout the fall. In Our Bedroom After the War: 01 The Beginning After the End 02 The Night Starts Here 03 Take Me to the Riot 04 My Favourite Book 05 Midnight Coward 06 The Ghost of Genova Heights 07 Personal 08 Barricade 09 Window Bird 10 Life 2: the Unhappy Ending 11 b***hes in Tokyo 12 Today Will Be Better, I Swear! 13 In Our Bedroom After the War Stars: 09-06 Grand Rapids, MI - Calvin College Fine Arts Center 09-08 Montreal, Quebec - Osheaga Festival 09-09 Toronto, Ontario - Virgin Festival MP3: Stars: The Night Starts Here---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I've heard some of their stuff and I liked it enough to be interested about this new record. "The Night Starts Here" isn't extraordinarily good IMO, though.

I loved "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" and "The Big Fight" from their last CD. If there's anything like those two on this album, I want it!!

Stars Battle Leaks by Releasing Digital Bedroom Today! It was a little over a week ago that the first peek behind the door of In Our Bedroom After the War, the latest from ethereal indie-poppers Stars, made its way onto the internet. You might've glanced at the tracklist, perhaps nabbed new jam "The Night Starts Here" on Forkcast, and sighed wistfully, wishing away the hours between now and September 25. But when Stars are involved, seems wishes sometimes come true. In an Arts & Crafts posting directed to "friends, fans and supporters of Stars," the band and label explain that the final mix of In Our Bedroom After the War was delivered Friday, July 6, but that, through the process of getting the CD to journalists and radio stations, "inevitably someone will leak the album." Though they don't exactly condemn the leak process, they're not really happy about the monetary losses involved, and, "as such, [they] are making the new Stars album available for download today." That's right: Stars' In Our Bedroom After the War is, as of today, available (legally) via digital retailers (including A&C's own online shop). It's like a glimpse into the future... now! "It's our hope," Stars and A&C write, "that given a clear, legal alternative to downloading music for free, you will choose to support the creators." Well played, guys. Well played, indeed. The real album (in CD and double-LP form) will still hit shelves September 25, though by then, you'll hardly have much need for a lyric sheet, willya? Thanks to several readers (who we have to assume are bumpin' War all legal-like at present) for the tip. In other Stars news, that trio of tour dates they have scheduled aren't going anywhere. Four Stars for generosity: 09-06 Grand Rapids, MI - Calvin College Fine Arts Center 09-08 Montreal, Quebec - Osheaga Festival 09-09 Toronto, Ontario - Virgin Festival

Stars Ready To Rock The 'Bedroom'July 18, 2007, 11:05 AM ET Michael D. Ayers, N.Y. Ever conscious of their live show, Canadian indie rockers Stars tried to capture that sound on their new album, "In Our Bedroom After the War," which is out now digitally and will arrive Sept. 25 at traditional retail via Arts & Crafts. The set was recorded in Vancouver over a six-week period this spring, with the band routinely logging 12- to 15-hour days in the studio. "One of the consistent thing people tell us is that our live show is pretty different than our records," Stars vocalist Amy Millan tells Billboard.com. "We wanted to bring the explosiveness from the live show to the record. We were in the room together when this was recorded, rather than recording all our parts separately." Stars gained prominence in North America with 2005's breakout "Set Yourself on Fire," the success of which afforded the band some new studio tricks. "I think we have many more tools for this record. We put more money into buying and renting instruments." Millan says. "I think it sounds more raw, but there is still the gloss that I think we search for." Currently, the band is in Toronto shooting the video for lead single "Take Me To the Riot." They'll head out for three gigs in early September, before launching a U.S. tour Oct. 17 in Burlington, Vt. This trek encompasses some of the band's biggest headlining shows to date, including stops at New York's Town Hall and Stubbs' BBQ in Austin, Tx. "We got a taste of big rooms when we opened for Death Cab For Cutie," Millan says. "We're pretty large personalities, so we're excited for larger rooms."

Video for "Take Me to the Riot", which peaked at #71 on the Hot Canadian Digital Singles: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Zyo00nGzqUThe digital edition of the album charted on Billboard's Top Digital Albums: it entered at #22, rising to #20 in the second week before falling off. I guess their anti-leak strategy has worked out fine.

I think the physical release of the album next month will put them on the charts. Not on a superstar level of course, but a solid debut around #80 on the Billboard 200 is granted IMO.

Interesting! And scary! I'm not familiar with their material but I saw them in concert last year and they put on a really good show so I definitely plan on checking this album out!

"Fixed" is the first single from the album, and will be released digitally on 4/20. You can hear it at the link and grab it for free (as in, e-mail address) from the band's website. I like it a lot. stereogum.com/328772/stars-fixed/mp3s/
