"Trippin" and "Take This Ring" were stunning singles. They should have been huge.

Please was such a jam too. Too bad the label didn't promote it. It could've been HUGE!

Are you serious? That is her reason? That is bull. I mean I like Toni and all, but I'm sure she was contacting Arista saying "WTF? You don't want me at your label anymore?"
Doesn't sound like a Toni thing to do to just go with what she is hearing from one side.

Please was such a jam too. Too bad the label didn't promote it. It could've been HUGE! PREACH!!!!!! 'Please' remains to me one of the hottest songs ever and that video was on FIYAH! Toni so knows how to look sexy and get into that whole attitude and looks. I felt gutted to see it hanging inside the bubbling under for ages and never properly chartting :( It would have been BIG but vey BIG @ Urban radios if her label had promoted it well. That song is a JAM! "Trippin" and "Take This Ring" were stunning singles. They should have been huge. AGREED! Trippin' could have done for her career something like WBT did for Mariah (okay, in a smaller scale but it could ) That song is gorgeous And Take This Ring can be a very 'generic' Rich Harrison 'all about the horns' production but GOSH that song is HOT HOT HOT Has anyone seen her live? I mean dont be fooled by her 'New Years Eve' performance were she was hardly singing I mean her FLAMINGO show ones. She still got it, that woman KILLS IT! And aw, Take this ring live is HAWT! And great thread Blue Diamond NU TONI ERA!

She should go back to Clive and Arista. I share this same view. However I think Clive and his team are just really busy getting Whitney back in the bussiness... but there's always hope!

Yepm, Clive has to hold back Whitney's wig fro getting in her face while doing lines of coke. In other news... It would be great if Toni made a comeback.

It was foolish on Toni's part to sign an $18 million contract with Blackground! I know Barry was her manager and all but she should've known that they did not have that kind of money to support her. Had she released Libra under Arista, it would've easily went Platinum! That being said, Barry was extremely shady in dealing with Toni and I hope the courts get in her ass and she gets back all her money. I say she give LA or Clive and call and set up that new record deal so we can get us a new album!

I do think she kinda messed up when she left Arista. She should've gave them one more CD chance because whatever lack of promotion given, they have more clout and pull and success than Blackground Records for sure.

That's BS. The whole "He fooled me into thinking Arista didn't want me no more" story is lame. She is just trying to do damage control so she might have the option to
A) Crawl back to Arista/BMG under Clive Davis B) Crawl back to LA Reid at Island Def Jam (which is who was running Arista when she ran away)
I think she can forget either because Clive has enough R&B sirens (Monica, Fantasia and the dropped Deborah Cox) and LA Reid has Mariah, and Rhianna. She can forget it.

Maybe she should go to Umbrella Recordings
That company has Tweet, Patti LaBelle & Carl Thomas. They're "slogan" so to speak is to take artists who had past success but have been mismanaged by major record labels. It sounds right up Toni's alley, but none of their people have released any

I want to know two things, one what happend to toni braxton? all these years? and actually? her New Years Eve proformance really sucked. I'm Sorry but thats not the TB I remember, I am glad she didn't sing "Breathe Again," cause I love that song.
Hell her NYE proformance I think was so bad, I had more fun listining to Seacrest go on and on lol.

They also have the option to have their music released under their label or they can acquire distribution through a major label. Patti just released a gospel album and both Carl & Tweet are hard at work in the studio. Carl actually has a single on the Urban AC charts now called "Another You".

That “He fooled me…”excuse does sounds like bull. I used to be a huge Toni Braxton fan and I still like her, but I haven’t been fanatical over her since her Heat album. She went the hiphop route with her fourth album and I wasn’t feeling it. I’m always rooting for Toni and will still support her projects even though I’ve been disappointed with her last two efforts and her continuing to dress like an "old ho".

She can forget it. Well Toni has outsold everyone on the J Records roster except the newly added Whitney. And L.A. Reid made a majority of his money and success because of Toni who was the foundation of LaFace records. So I think she has a good chance of going back with L.A Reid or going to Clive.

well, when one record label stops any and all promotion every time she's at the BEGINNING of a pregnancy & the other just sucks...

But Toni hasn't been that hot of a comodity in 10 years with Secrets... No Toni was still pretty huge with sales, singles and Awards with the release of "The Heat." Her downfall started in 2002 with the release of "More than A Woman" due to her pregnancy and her labels decision not to promote. But I think her sales with that album and "libra" have been consistant and show that with 1 single she can push gold, so its pretty obvious that if she had full label support she can push platinum and double platinum.

In Vegas, they took pics of you sitting in a dark booth and tried to sell it to you after the show as a Toni souvenir. :-\

I used to be a huge Toni B fan an still like her, but I feel part of the reason she's lost her clout in the industry is because she's taken too long between projects and she doesn't do a lot of promotion herself. I also think she doesn't have the drive that is needed to survive in the music industry today. I was very surprised to see her at the New Year's thing. I didn't believe it was Toni at first because she hasn't been seen around at all and hasn't had music to promote in the last two years. If she spent more time promoting Libra or even More Than A Woman instead of complaining of how Beyonce and Jay-Z were stealing food from her kids' plates, or how so and so screwed her over in the past and how everyone hates her, she would get somewhere. You have to forget your past, give everything your full effort, and start afresh. You need to promote, maintain touch with your fanbase, be in the media in a positive light sporadically so you aren't forgotten, and find the right balance between beinginvolved in your project so it is a reflection of you and finding the right professional help / management / PR. You need to pretend like every project is your be-all end-all to just survive. Look at how much effort Christina put towards Back To Basics, or how creative Justin was with FutureSexLovesounds. I don't think she has the will power to pull a comeback, and frankly, I don't think whitney does either. Believe it or not, I think that of the people of that generation, Janet still has a chance because she hasn't disappeared completely and the girl works hard. If she gets too fat again tho and can't lose the wait, she's in for trouble as well.
Please and Hit The Freeway were both really hot tracks IMO... with the right promotion, they would have been a smash. I do agree that Blackground was largely to blame, but she should have been smarter signing on to a smaller label and she was also partly to blame for the poor promotion. If Blackground or whoever got her a NYE spot this year, they could have done it when she released Libra. She was probably too lazy, and was probably inspired by Mariah, Janet and others coming back to think she could just release something and go coasting up the charts. I mean especially since she claimed she got screwed the first time around by LaFace and was "broke". If she was blaming LaFace and Arista for her previous woes, why didn't she shop smartly as a veteran in the industry? I mean look how smartly Mariah played her cards... She got $56 mil just from Glitter, and still managed to sign a lucrative deal with Def Jam.
I love Toni, but she needs to smarten up a bit, and realize that no LA Reid-like manager will come and turn her into a superstar again. She has the power to do it, but needs to find the right team and give it 100% of her committment. She has a family now, and I get the sense that she is a very good, nurturing mother from what I've read. Her top priority is really elsewhere and I sense that she's moreso in the industry still for the money. Her heart is in the wrong place, and she's not making her moves like her survival depended on it.
I think if she gets the $10m, she might just fade away. It would be great to see her make a comeback since I do like her quite a bit, but I just don't think it will happen, unless she gets really lucky.
