I just did a Rate the Music project for this album. The songs tested were: "Hopeless," "Hold On," "Saving My Face," "If Only" and "Little Favours."
"Hopeless" is a folky pop song -- I really like how the lyric and melody fit together on this one -- Tunstall's delivery is perfect. I think my favorite line from the clip is "I find it's hopeless/Clinging to a feeling like a fish on a line."
"Hold On" will appeal to the people who liked "Black Horse & Cherry Tree," I think -- super-catchy instrumentation that makes you want to clap along. It's sort of a noir pop song. This would be my vote for lead single.
"Saving My Face" is a straight-up guitar pop song -- not Tunstall's best lyrically (at least not in the clip), but it's a decent album track.
"If Only" is a Coldplay-ish pop song melodically (the beat is "Clocks"-ish on the chorus). Not bad, but again, strikes me as an album track.
"Little Favours" is straightforward pop-rock. Not a huge fan of her phrasing on this one, and it sounds like something any number of British female rockers would sing. It's not bad, though.
Overall, the tracks seem a bit more produced than was Eye to the Telescope. "Hopeless" and "Hold On" are more distinctively KT Tunstall than the other tracks, I think. I'm looking forward to the album.

Can't wait! 'Eye To The Telescope' was my #1 CD of 2005 and 'Acoustic Extravaganza' is already a lock in my Top 10 for 2007!

Thanks so much for this! I really enjoyed the performance. I think "Hold On" was the right choice for lead single, given the choices. It has that catchy beat that's reminiscent of BH&CT, so hopefully that will help it on Hot AC, in addition to AAA. Hope this era is a success!

I don't know if I like the album cover. Looks too fake-futuristic whereas I always liked that KT was a guitar girl in an all natural world. LOL! Anyway, I'm quite liking the new single after only a few listens. It should sit well with her other FOUR #1 hits she has for me from the last record.

I don't know if I like the album cover that much, but I love "Hold On" and I'm really looking forward to this new era! Her last album was one of the best of 2006.

I'm listening to it right now and I really like on second listen. It's a slower album, some songs aren't as catchy as the ones from EttT, but the production, lyrics and vocal delivery are pitch perfect.
I'm surprised by the lack of buzz for the album though. The single isn't going nowhere at Hot AC and it's a very good song and this thread is completely dead.
For future singles, I'd love to see Funnyman and If Only released. White Bird and Beauty of Uncertainty are great great songs, but they're more album tracks, amazing album tracks.

According to PopJustice's forums, the album is quite good & contains a standout track called "I Don't Want You Now".

I like the album cover.
Makes her looks younger than her debut.

Really cool album. I didn't think I would like it more than her debut, but I like it just as much. Nice effort.
