Kelly lets talk about sex. ;) Staying Alive sat down with chart topper - and American Idol- Kelly Clarkson and had a chat about, yep, you guessed it, sex. Q. What advice would you give to young people to protect themselves against HIV and other STIs?A. The biggest key is to, without sounding like a mom/dad, but abstinence or safe sex. Sex is fun but there’s a responsibility with it too; pregnancy, STIs. I was taught in school.. and it scared me! I didn’t wanna have sex again…ever! Make sure you’re in a relationship you want to be in, you know your partner, you know their history. It kills me that something that can be prevented, isn’t and millions are affected by it. Q. How would you encourage people to get tested, there are so many people who just don’t want to know, how would you change that?A.That’s absurd! Having sex and not getting tested! Nowadays, more and more people are promiscuous, no ways am I hatin’ that - but take responsibility and get tested, make sure you’re healthy, you’re not spreading something around. My friend got it through someone cheating on her. You have to be careful, even in a relationship, it’s not fair. You need to look out for everyone, not just yourself. Q. Do you think the media can do more?A. Artists, music, everyone wants to help but you need to educate yourself, tell people. Stats show there are millions in Africa with AIDS and HIV, don’t just give them condoms, tell them, teach them, things like if you take a virgin you can’t get it, it’s absurd. Education doesn’t cost, not that much anyway, we need to tell people. Q. Women with low self esteem find it hard to say ‘you have to use a condom’, what would you tell them?A. Ok, first, if you’re being sexually active and your partner’s not, that means they’ve not been safe with anyone else they’ve been with, so now you’re getting that, which is just stupid, they don’t love you, and maybe I’m just old fashioned but why sleep with someone you don’t see yourself being with or who you want to spend the rest of your life with? And even if you are that way…be smart! Don’t be an idiot! In Africa they have less education, in America, its everywhere, MTV, news, campaigns everywhere, there’s no excuse, no reason not to be safe. I’d gladly punch someone who says they’re not! I know I sound like a mom, but I’m 25, I’m young, I’m just saying, be responsible. Q. What advice would you give to someone who's self destructive and doesn’t care about their body?
A. A lot is down to confidence and insecurities… to grow up in a stable environment, not everyone’s that lucky. But you know what feels good and what feels bad inside. If you’re that insecure, you’re not gonna find yourself through sex, it’s designed to have children! For breeding!! So you’re not gonna find yourself there. You need friends and family around you, people tell me it’s cheesy but it’s never cheesy to build someone’s confidence or morale because that’s where too young a people fall prey to being sexually active. I sound so old saying this but there are kids having sex, I wasn’t even kissing boys when i was a kid! They’re too young to handle the emotional stress. Q. What advice would you give to a teen thinking of having sex? ‘Older sister’ type advice?A. Fiest I’d say think again, think about it. It’s a highly emotional thing, the most intimate you can be with someone…someone’s going to get hurt. And for a youngster, they just want to experience it, they’ve seen what it’s all about in the magazines and the movies…but there’s a lot of responsibility with it, especially for women with pregnancy and STIs. For men and women, you need someone you love and trust - you have because no idea where everyone’s been, because you don’t want it! People throw around the word love and sexuality, we’ve cheapened it. So, I’d probably give them a lecture! It’s so emotionally taxing won’t know til you’re there, so you’ll might as well learn from others’ mistakes. It’s a sad thing. www.staying-alive.org/en/latest/other_links/kelly_clarkson

Haha @ HDD predicting #9 and she's still top 5 - eat it suckers, she don't need a top 10 radio smash to sell well! MADE my week right there! Lol @ Giggawho changing her name to Clive Davis - am I the only one nervous about that? Didnt Kelly say she will make whatever record RCA wants her to make for her next album? She meant writter/producer like. I.E. She probably wont be the writter of 100% of her songs and the co-excecutive of her next album and get a Dr. Luke / Max Martin like producer. Judas..is so underated i think its a really good song... and about Kelly going country...EWWW HELL NO {vomit vomit vomit} yes JUDAS is so good ... catchy hooks!!!! i wish she would have sing the chorus one more time after the bridge, it would make a cool single IMO HIGHLY underrated, one of my favorite songs - hell I think it would be a good single as is but it won't happen. Lol Ruru - well I'm hoping its more acoustic / light rock-blues than pure Country. Regardless it will probably be happier tracks than MD, which is understandable since she's in a different/better place than she was when she wrote MD. Lol @ Breeding, that's so John Garabedian

Ok, I know everybody likes HIF, but I think we need to settle down. Didn't anybody learn anything from NA? Kelly's songs do not smash fast. She's not going to get a #1 in less than a month. Why can't we just be patient. HIF would still be just as big of a hit in October. Especially if the sales start to slow like so many urging for a new single suggest. And even if they did switch the single, there's no guarantee HIF would be a hit. It's catchy enough, but it would probably lead to confusion from the radio's side, much like NA and Sober did. Fans will split their requests, some stations will continue to back Sober and not HIF, and both songs will suffer. October or so really isn't that long, people. Just give Sober a shot. i already tried saying that but some people just dont listen.

Whatever happened to the Stripped sessions? Wasn't it on that promo list that leaked a few months ago? And the MSN Control Room sessions?

Speaking of "Judas", have all of you seen the Nissan Live Sets performance of it? OMG, it's a great vocal! One of the backup singers, I think her name is Jill, is REALLY good. Check it out and give your opinion, ok. :) After watching it, my opinion is that it would make a great single, eventually. music.yahoo.com/promo-31904706

She said her next album is a lot happier. Maybe "Did You" is on it, lol. This girl desperately needs to put out some upbeat, hopeful music. One of the big reasons for the backlash among many against Kelly this era is that MD is so dark and joyless. Kelly is 24/25 years old and she's already singing about her "December." I'd hate to see what she's like when she turns 65. And please, you Kelly fans who exist on here just to defend her like your lives depended on it, don't bother telling me all the reasons why I'm wrong, or a "hater," or whatever. I love the girl and dislike the album. For those of us who can walk and chew gum at the same time, the two frames of mind can co-exist. There's exactly one song I really like on the whole MD album, and that's 'Be Still.'

I think if you backed off saying things like "YOU Kelly fans" people may be less aggressive with you. And thats not like...a warning but more like advice. It comes off kind of condescending. And I disagree that MD is dark and joyless. In fact, I find most of the songs not to be depressing. But...I guess Im a freak. I was also confused about why everyone declared Stripped by Christina a dark, joyless, depressing cd. Breaking it down track by track more songs on that cd are wildly uplifting/upbeat versus depressing. But, its not a Christina thread

I'm just happy that this album came out and that it's selling decently. It's important for Kelly to release this album, and I think everyone needs to respect that since Kelly is an artist.

Yeah i know MD is alot darker then BA, but everyone makes out that BA was some upbeat happy album. In some respects, it was, starting with the title song. And even though several of the songs were about painful themes, musically the sound was joyful. However, the reason I said Kelly desperately needs to put out a more upbeat album next time is because so much of what she's done on both BA and MD is essentially the same theme, with MD being a darker continuation of that theme. Believe me or not, doesn't matter. But I know a number of people who aren't buying MD because they see it as joyless.

I don't find either of them dark. I think if someone finds MD dark they need to get out of butterfly rainbow happy bunny land. Haunted & Hole don't sound 'dark' to me anymore, they sound like happy songs.

Thank you for your advice which, since you are a mod, I will have to take under consideration. Please let me make a request of you, however. Please consider the entire phrase, not just one piece of it. The entire phrase is "you Kelly fans who exist on here just to defend her like your lives depended on it." In other words, I was referring to a particular type of individual, not all Kelly fans, of which I am one. If you check my posting history, you'll see that I only post on Kelly threads here. I'm crazy about the girl. But I'm deeply disappointed in MD.

I know that in the past I have come across as really b***hy because of word choice and sometimes its as little as saying actually instead of I believe or something. Example Actually, the sky is blue I believe the sky is blue. People get annoyed at #1. #2 not so much! I think you have a lot of good points and valid observations (even if I disagree) but I think people are put off by some of those phrases. But, I am wildly offtopic and there are no rules against rhetorical devices that sound condescending lmao.

Have you read any of the posts in the previous four boards? I think this was answered at least twenty times +. Opinions were given, yes. Usually the gist of the answer is that it's important because Kelly wanted to do it, to "grow as an artist." My question went to exploring (1) why sosickofluvsongs thought it was important, since that is who I was responding to, and (2) why is it important in an objective sense rather than in the very subjective sense of Kelly "growing as an artist." Or, for that matter, in the hedonistic sense of it's important because Kelly wanted to do it. At various times in our lives, we all want to do things that are not wise and not good for us.

What you are essentially saying is, this is what I have to say - don't disagree with me or you are a mindless fan, and the only reason a person would like the album is if they were in fact that. Bravo.
