I doubt clive will let her release a country record anytime soon. I think the reason why she hired Reba's husband as her manager is because he is someone she can trust and she said she wants people she can trust to work with her.

go HOW I FEEL!!!! she just needs 1 big hit. i rather they pull out SOBER asap!.. the record is still new and fresh now, she needs a hit ASAP!

I think they should just keep Sober as the single and see how itll do in a couple of weeks. because its not like its going down, its going up. but some of you wanna get rid of this song so fast and release HIF. that'll just create more confusion and when everyone realizes Sober wasnt finished the add dates for HIF get pushed and then everyone says its a flop like they did with Sober. and this album hasnt flopped. since when is selling 500,000 copies in 3 weeks a flop? Sometimes I dont understand people. oh and sober is picking up spins and new stations. confusion? lol .. sober is only on 20+ stations so far .... and no big market station at all .. the only confusion is that why kelly hasnt had a radio hit on this era. the longer they wait to release HIF, the faster CD sales will fall . she needs 1 big hit on radio to open the door for her other less radio friendly song. look at pink, sure she's recovered on US radio now.. but the CD could've sold so much more in the US with the right single order.

Judas..is so underated i think its a really good song... and about Kelly going country...EWWW HELL NO {vomit vomit vomit} Heh. I'm not a huge fan of country music, and this was actually kinda my opinion for a while until she started singing country (CMA's/Giant's/ect.), and I saw that she sounded fantastic singing country. But I am actually more interested in the 'bluesy/acoustic" aspect she's been talking about then the country part.

I think the direction she is talking about is songs that are acoustic an folksy. One song that comes to mind for me is The One That Got Away by P!nk. Others are Maybe and Yeah. Songs like those are what I think she is talking about when saying country/bluesy/acoustic/folksy.

Judas..is so underated i think its a really good song... and about Kelly going country...EWWW HELL NO {vomit vomit vomit} Judas is fast becoming one of my favorites on the album. It's a great song! I don't like country music, I kind of hate it, but I've heard Country Kelly because she usually sings at least one country song per tour. On her mini-tour (very first tour 2003) she sang "Somewhere Other than the Night" (Garth Brooks) www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zDlpHsMe5o, Independent Tour "Why Haven't I Heard from You" (Reba) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh1W5iEw9KQ, Hazel Eyes Tour "I'm Moving On" (Rascal Flatts) www.youtube.com/watch?v=S14vqxEm4iY. She sounded so great on all of these songs. Kind of made me like country and she sounded like she was meant for this kind of music. Just like she sounds like she was meant for Pop and Rock and bluesy stuff. I'm starting to look forward to a country/rock/blues album. Especially if it's Bonnie Raitt'ish.

I love that she's writing writing writing!
I loved Country before I ever even knew who Kelly was so the idea of her putting out a country album makes me giddy! Now if only she'd put out an alternative rock album and contemporary christian, she'd have hit all my favorite genres!

I assume the songs are ones not included on My December. The two co-writers on "Did you" were also part of "yeah" and 'Don't waste your time"

^^ I disagree. One of the best things about the song is exactly the fact that there is no chorus after the bridge. It works really well IMO and is very refreshing.

Kelly is definitely going to go folk in the future. I really think that is where her interest is at the moment. And didn't she say Ray Lamontage and Patty Griffin were her biggest inspirations?

Didnt Kelly say she will make whatever record RCA wants her to make for her next album? Yes, she did say that- I think that was the plan but I don't know what Clive will want to do now- he might not want to work with her anymore- that "80" comment could not possibly have made him happy.

yeah, cuz until then I think he had convinced himself he was still in his 30s and now he's completely screwed LOL...
Seriously, I think at this point Kelly's gonna do what Kelly wants to do Clive and Co be damned. I think she'd be quite content to just sit around until her contract expires touring with new music in small venues. IMO Kelly has built enough of a fanbase at this point that an album every two or so years isn't really necessary. I think Kelly loves performing for her fans much more than she does fighting with the label and I think the sales of My December have shown her that she defintely has a loyal core fanbase on which to draw on for a tour. I mean almost 500K in three weeks? She could easily tour 4-5K seat venues without a problem for the immediate future and just introduce her music that way to fans. Hell they are so good at capturing media it would get to the masses via the internet and Kelly could just bypass the CD market altogether LOL wouldn't that piss Clive and Co off....
and before anyone jumps on me, I'm only half serious. I think Kelly should keep making CDs.

HIF starts climbing the charts and Sober goes down the charts. Thats gonna take a while. because Sober gets bigger everyday(even if its still 20+ stations playing it. It gains like 8 new spins). So your gonna waste the same amount of time just to make sure you have 1 hit when you could possibly have 2. i would take that risk since this era is already messed up anyways.

They haven't released HIF it's just everyone and their dog second guessing the choice of Sober. It's really no wonder Kelly's singles have struggled this era since her fans all want different ones. Sober is the single, if you want Kelly to have succcess on the radio this era, request the song that's available instead of moaning about which song you'd like to see released.
HIF isn't being released as far as I can tell so all this talk of dump sober and make way for HIF isn't productive and the truth is, it would take weeks for HIF to catch on whereas Sober IS catching on NOW.

Ok, I know everybody likes HIF, but I think we need to settle down. Didn't anybody learn anything from NA? Kelly's songs do not smash fast. She's not going to get a #1 in less than a month. Why can't we just be patient. HIF would still be just as big of a hit in October. Especially if the sales start to slow like so many urging for a new single suggest.
And even if they did switch the single, there's no guarantee HIF would be a hit. It's catchy enough, but it would probably lead to confusion from the radio's side, much like NA and Sober did. Fans will split their requests, some stations will continue to back Sober and not HIF, and both songs will suffer.
October or so really isn't that long, people. Just give Sober a shot.
