This is #1 on the Real Time Tracker at the moment, although I don't know how much trust I put in that thing after the last several weeks.

wow really? that is great, but i don't see how it can be in front of Brad, Keith, and Keith. maybe he has gotten a sudden boost because his album came out today? i really hope this can snag at least one week at #1.

So can someone PLEASE tell me WHY this song is doing so well? Rarely does a deserving song make it this far.....
But really, he is on an indie label that no one has heard of. "That's All I'll Ever Need" (the first single, I thought) completely bombed. He's not that big to begin with, not very well known at all.
So then..... HOW has this been so successful?
EDIT: Just wanted to clarify that I love this song and am extremely happy that it has done so well. It just makes no sense to me how country radio is so picky. Why this song? Why did they choose this particular one to play the heck out of?

Why did they choose this particular one to play the heck out of? My guess is that flukes happen every now and then. Jack Ingram with "Wherever You Are". Emerson Drive with "Moments". Heartland with "I Loved Her First". Number One hits for acts who were largely unheard of, and on labels that had never even had a Top 40 hit before (or in Jack's and E-D's case, the first chart single for each label — Heartland was the second chart single for Lofton Creek, as Keith Bryant was first. Bet you forgot about him). Sometimes a song, I guess, just has that unusual combo of being radio friendly, popular among fans, and just a little bit left of center. It's part of what made big hits out of five-minute ballads like "Strawberry Wine" and "Stay", and of totally non-country acts having hits, like "All Summer Long" and "Who Says You Can't Go Home". Country radio is indeed fickle at times, and I doubt we'll ever figure out why some songs do what they do on the charts.

It must be so frustrating for artists to pick single after single and try to compete with everybody else on the charts. There's A LOT of competition on the charts, especially right now.

Valory Music has been pretty agressive with their artists and even though they kinda are an indie label, the headmaster is Scott Borchetta, from Big Machine (Taylor Swift's). Jimmy has been touring all over the stations across USA (as did Jewel, who is also on Valory) and the song has really connected with the DJs.

Justin Moore is also on Valory. "Back That Thing Up" is currently top 50 on AllAccess. Jewel has also had 2 hits on Valory. so i think radio must somewhat respect the label.

This song has it in the bag. I think the chances are 70/25/5.
70% chance that Jimmy has the #1 spot. (This is based on his consistently strong gains.)
25% chance that Keith Anderson has the #1 spot. (This is based on the fact that Urban has less spins and AIs than this song, and this song is ahead of Jimmy.)
5% chance that Keith Urban keeps the #1 spot. (This is based on the FACT that Urban has around 200 more mediabase points than Anderson and around 270 more than Wayne.)

Keith Urban has more AI's than Keith Anderson and Jimmy Wayne. i would give him way more than 25% and Keith Anderson way less than that. Anderson has less AI's than Jimmy and only 65 more spins.
Jimmy is about 0.45 AI's away from Urban but has 30 more spins than him. i bet Jimmy will be #1 on AllAccess/Mediabase by tomorrow. especially if the top 3 all have similar gains/losses to today.

Hahahaha, I just realized how much different mediabase and All Access are. Sorry, I was basing my information of off the mediabase charts (not the All Access mediabase).

i think it is AMAZING!
Where You're Going I Will I'll Be That I Didn't Come Here To Lose Kerosene Kid True Believer Brighter Days
are all outstanding songs (IMO). the only 2 i don't love are
One On One No Good For Me
i also like the originals of "I Love You This Much" and "Stay Gone" much better than the new ones.

I love this new album as well. I can't pick a bad song. I have enjoyed listening to it since Tuesday. The only complaint I have is that it not even remotely country. But I'm ok with that, it's still good music.

And, for the first time in its run, it has the #1 spin bullet, leading #2 Kid Rock by 100 spins.

I am so glad this made it to the top. He has such an interesting story. One thing that seems to bother me a bit is that he has a lot of songs that seem to draw towards the sympathy end of the spectrum. The songs are good if not great but it's like he's banging in the fact that he had a rough life. I know counrty music is all about life experiences and all but it does seem to get old. Overall though I do love the cd and think there will be a couple more big hits.
Another small complaint was leaving off That's All I'll Ever Need. I know it flopped but I really loved it. It was already in the can so it couldn't have cost anything just to add it.

The problem with adding a song to a record that had already been released and did not do so well is that it puts your record one more single closer to being done. Look at Josh Gracin's new record...by including Favorite State of Mind and I Keep Coming Back...that puts Unbelieveable as the fourth single off that record. Which pretty much means that the record is done after this single peaks and it has only been out for a few months. Same with Keith Anderson...although I love Sunday Morning In America...including that and his version of Lost In This Moment...it just makes things complicated.
At least Jimmy starts fresh...he has a whole record of singles to choose from with no limitations.

I don't see why the number of singles released prior to album release should have an effect on the total number of singles released. The point of singles are to promote albums to make money. So really, those singles released before the album that do bad at radio could actually not be counted towards the total number.
If an artist were to release 3 singles off an album and have the album come out on the fourth single, would that mean the artist would be done with that album only 20-40 weeks after it's release? (In most circumstances,) No, they'd more than likely release singles off the album for 1.5-2 years after its released.
I'm usually in favor of including songs such as "That's All I'll Ever Need," "Sunday Morning In America," those 2 Josh Gracin songs, etc., especially when I am a fan of the artist, because those singles pretty much count as pre-album promotion. They don't count towards the 1.5-2 year period after the album is released, but they garner a fanbase who may not have been there before said single, and therefore a fanbase which is more likely to buy the album.

Do I believe you now, Jimmy? Now that you've finally gotten a #1, when before this song charted I thought your career was done? Absolutely.
