Sent out to radio today, goes for adds on March 17th.
As I said in the upcoming singles thread, there are at least four other songs that I would have rather had as the second single. I was really hoping for "She's So California" or "Like It's A Bad Thing." I'm not crazy about "Learning How To Bend" right now, but it will probably grow on me.

^those would have been my top 2 picks also. for some reason i knew this would be his next single though. hopefully this grows on me as much as "Watching Airplanes" did

I would have preferred Half of My Mistakes, but I assume we will get a third single at some point. She's So Cali would also have been a good choice. But this one's not a horrible choice at all. I would expect it to make the top 5 and who knows, maybe go farther, building on WA's big success.

It's too bad the studio version of Like It's A Bad Thing doesn't capture the fun of it live - it's a great live song. Half Of My Mistakes is about the only thing on the CD that sounds like a country song, so for that reason, it would be nice to have it released as a single.
But the best song on the CD actually isn't on it - his label released an "extra" song on itunes called Memory On The Run and that's my favorite...

I'm not too sure what I've said about what to release next. I honestly change my mind a lot with this album. I think every song on the album is good and most are single worthy.
But at the moment, I'm satisfied with this choice. I love his vocal performance in this one and when he sings "how to let youuuuuu in" in the chorus. He seems to give it all he has. But then, he's always been good at that and giving emotion in his music.

Well said, it's hard to go wrong when there aren't any real bad songs. I personally would have picked Half Of My Mistakes, but as Zazie said, there should be a third single. I also like She's So California, as well as Yesterday's Rain. Learning How To Bend wasn't initially my favorite, but it very well may grow on me.

I'm pretty sure I've heard "She's So California" before on my radio station here in Vancouver. I know it wasn't Gary Allan singing it and I think it was a Canadian artist that was singing it. Not sure who though.

There are definately better choices on the album, led by "Like It's A Bad Thing," but I can live with this. I've always loved it when an artist can hit the high notes like that.

I'm just excited to get a second single. I love so many songs on this CD. I think this is a good choice. It's a bit different for him, I think, so I will be curious to see how it fares.

She's So California on Living Hard was written by Gary Allan, Jon Randall and Jaimie Hanna, so I don't think it would be the same one previously recorded.
While I like Learning How to Bend...I will have to wait and see how it sounds on radio...Half of My Mistakes seems like a better choice.

I like this, but it would not have been my choice. "We Touched The Sun" or "Half Of My Mistakes" are better singles, I think, but this should still go top 20 at the very least.
"She's So California" by Adam Gregory is a completely different song than the one that Gary recorded.

XM played "Like it's A Bad Thing" the other day and I got it saved to listen to whenever. I LOVE THAT SONG!!!! I also like Learning How To Bend and hope it does well. Gary is becoming one of my favorite artist fairly quickly although he has been out for quite a while.

While not a major fan of country music (but do listen to a few artist her and there), I do love Gary Allan and think this is a good follow up single. I believe with other poster about other songs posted. But I'm thinking the label wanted to put out a slower song and then follow that (the 3rd single) with a faster song. Kinda get more life out of the CD.
Just me thinking

Not to take the thread off topic, I have an Express RC. It's amazing!!!! You can save ten songs to listen to them anytime. Pause, fast foward, rewind. Full color screen that splits with your favorites or with all the channelswhen you want it to.
Sorry again, just answering the question. By the way I am loving this song more with every listen. Now if he will just release Like It's Bad Thing at sometime I will be VERY HAPPY!

Pretty good. 40 weeks from now it'll hit top 10 (hopefully). I wouldn't be suprised if it stalled around #12 or 13 though.

Hopefully it'll be top 10 sooner than 40 weeks! I really like this song and hope it becomes another hit for Gary.

The more I hear this, the more I love this. It's helping me move on from WA. I love that little guitar in the intro/outro. Reminds me of a Pat Green song.

I'm actually shocked at how well this song is starting. Normally, it takes forever and a day for his songs to catch on. His songs normally look dead as heck before they take off. Maybe this is a good sign, not only for this song but for the future?!?! MAN, one can only hope that this man gets what he deserves, STILL one of the most underrated artists out there.

I am thrilled to see this song doing so well. I hope it is as you say and is the start of this man's career skyrocketing! He soooo deserves it :)

He might soon be back to where he was after the singles from See If I Care -- he had 2 #1's from that album, following up on his first #1, Man to Man (from Alright Guy). Once his wife died, I don't think his career was his biggest priority for quite a while.
But now he's... well, I'm sure he's not "back to normal" but I do think his career is back on track. One more big hit, and I think he'll have a nice long run of chart success.

Finally found this on page 4 so it must not be a big topic. I have been a Gary Allan fan for years and it is great to see this song doing so good. It has to be one of (if not) the fastest climbers of his career. Now, if the awards shows would finally get a clue and see what a talent he is then maybe they would let him perform.
